I didn't go that route because I didn't want to pay a monthly fee, but I can see why others might choose to do so.

Good point.

I also started with a server on AWS but decided to switch to Forge. Sure, you pay a charge, but you also get additional functions like easy user management

Wow, quite some activity in the thread :-)

I absolutely recommend using Foundry both for virtual and for running maps in person - it's simply ways better than Roll20.

I really hope Paizo will officially support Foundry with the Adventure Paths in the future.

Hi there,
are there any infos if existing and/or future adventure paths will be released for Foundry VTT?

Made in Dungeondraft - mostly 200px grids unless otherwise specified. I'll keep adding maps to these Imgur posts

thanks a lot for your work guys, it really pushed my AoA forward!!! I have a question, hope you can help. I'm trying to use those maps on roll20 but I can't align them properly with the grid. Any suggestion on the page settings to use? thanks again!!!!

My general tips for getting a map well aligned in roll20:

1. Count the dimensions of the map's grid (eg: how many squares wide and high it is). Crop out partial grid spaces if necessary.

2. Make a map in roll20 that is the same dimensions.

3. Upload your map, put it on the map layer, right click it. Select "advanced, set dimensions".

4. Set the dimensions of your map to the dimensions you noted earlier.

5. The map should now be exactly the right size. Move it around a bit to make sure that all of it is visible, and your map's grid should be perfectly aligned with the one in roll20.

Thanks Tochmy and ToiletSloth, it helped a lot! I also realized there is a "align to grid" feature in advanced submenu. It doesn't works perfectly but it helps.

Thanks MSAbaddon for your maps (which I am using) and for your suggestion. We are veteran in-person players but we are new to VTTs so we are experiencing the free version of Roll20. But I'll take your suggestion on Foundry.

ENJOY THE GAME ;)

You're welcome :-)

Since roll20 was mentioned.

If you play online or use a VTT to run in-person games you should give Foundry VTT a try - it surpassed roll20 in nearly every aspect.

Awesome.

If you take suggestions for other maps to do, I think people could use 1 or 2 "dense jungle map" for random encounters on the Cult of Cinder adventure. There is a lack of that kind of maps in general (all the maps are situated in a clear in the jungle). It could be used for things like the Kishi encounter, random encounters with patrols, etc.

This comes form experience, I had to look on the web for maps for "dense jungle" but didn´t find one that I liked, so I had to improvise a bit with some assets.

I don't know how dense you want the jungle to be, but you can try the Jungle Clearing 1, Jungle Clearing 2 and Swamp maps I created.

THANK YOU MSAbaddon for saving my hide! I am working 60 hours a week from home on my job and it is killing me. The only saving me is our now weekly Age of Ashes campaign. Each Saturday night, this group of 8 friends with 35 years of gaming experience gathers to play through this pandemic. I don't have time to create maps or to really learn Roll20. If it wasn't for this message board and your amazing map work, I would be LOST! This community is amazing. I am grateful and humbled by you all!

I'm glad you like the maps and that they help you keeping your RPG group active :-)

Aratorin wrote:

Bonded Animal is a trap. Don't do it. You're going to invest a bunch of downtime Bonding with the Animal and Training it, and it's going to die horribly the first time it gets near a combat, because level appropriate animals are weaker than PCs, and they don't level, so they get even worse over time.

Yes, theoretically your Level 1 PC could Bond with a T-Rex, but that would involve finding a T-Rex, which is going to start Hostile, and then not only surviving an encounter with it, but also somehow improving its Attitude from Hostile to at least Indifferent in order to be able to prevent it from eating you while you attempt to Bond with it.

What - in your opinion - are Level appropriate animals dir e.g. a lvl6 Party? Can't be a Lvl6 creatures, because that is extremely powerful compared to the characters.

Hi,
can anyone clarify the rules for the feats Bonded Animal, Train Animal and for animals (not animal companions) in general?

Bonded Animal:
Is this feat supposed to work on any animal of the beastiary or only on the few entries in the Equipment-->Animals section of the Player's Handbook? Since it has a flat DC20 check - given the fitting environment, sufficient downtime and some lucky rolls a e.g. lvl1 character could possibly befriend a T-Rex (yes, I know, a DM would rather have the chracter instantly been eaten by the T-Rex, my question is, if it's possible at all)

Train Animal:
Ok, our Lvl1 character just got his own T-Rex. Can he use all of his abilities using command an animal (Trample, Swallow Whole) or does he have to teach the T-Rex those tricks using Train Animal. If he does not have to teach them, what actually is the function of Train Animal's "Teach new Actions"?

Animals in general:
The biggest of all questions: Is the T-Rex frightened 4 and fleeing as soon as a battle begins (meaning at Lvl1 he flees from spiders and rats...)? There is a rule about that, but it is located in the Equipment-->Animals section followed by a rather short list of buyable animals. Does the rule only apply to those animals or to all animals in general?

Overall, the animal rules are quite confusing. If every anmal can be a bonded animal, every character with nature gets a significant boost in power at the cost of just 1 skill feat due to the fact, that a creature of the same level easily overpowers melee characters in termns of atk-bonus and damage. With the launch of beasiary 2 end of may there will be even more animals available on every level.

I just finished the spell cards for all level 1 spells.

Please let me know if you find any errors on the cards.

All cards are one-sided and fit into regular Magic card sleeves. So aside from the cards' initial color coding (green being cantrips, gray being normal spells, red becoming focus spells and perhaps blue becoming separate cards for polymorph forms) you can use sleeves with colored backs to separate the different spell levels.

Hope you enjoy using the cards.

Level 1 Spells

Hi,
I used Magic Set Editor and an edited version of the Ander Style for DnD4 to create spellcards for all Cantrips currently available, making separate cards for heightened versions as well. Feel free to use them.

Unfortunately MSE screwed up card order during the export process, so you have to do some searching if you're looking for a specific spell :-)
