The Most IN-sane Character Concept You Never Got To Play (and Shouldn't)

Come on, admit it.

I know that you have at least one completely bananas, game breaking character concept you wanted to play in the organized campaign but you didn't because it you know deep in your heart it was completely bat-s#+& and there's no way anyone would, could, or should let you play it.

For me, I had this crazy idea for a Chaotic-Evil Fire Giant Prince who steals a treasured crown from some adventurers and tries to wear it on his finger like a ring, only to discover it's actually a Helm of Opposite Alignment and suddenly becomes Lawful-Good.

Another idea was for a zombie who has some how maintained his personality behind the grave and is trying to hide the fact that he's a rotting corpse from his fellow Pathfinders...but he keeps hearing the voice of the Lich that raised him in his head.

Neither of those two ideas are possible, nor should they be, but I know I'm not alone. Like 90 percent of this hobby is about creativity so It's hard to color inside the lines some time. I wanna hear the most insane character concept you've ever come up with, the less appropriate for organized Play the better.

I had this crazy idea for a ratfolk cavalier riding a dire rat who was like Don Quixote... Attacking windmills and really tall people.

Silver Crusade 1/5

I wanted to play this CG drow noble ranger...

Sovereign Court

Gunslinger/Summoner who uses siege weapons mounted on his eidolon, if that's even possible, or merely uses his eidolon as his siege helper. Sadly all the siege weapon rules aren't PFS legal. :P

Yes, yes...MORE INSANITY! MORE!

I have been giving way to much thought on how to make a Chosen One Paladin that is basically Sailor Moon. After all, Smite Evil can be used with ranged weapons. I have checked.

2/5 ****

I have this dream of a monk who's actually fun to play and able to contribute to fights and do cool things past 6th level.

I have this dream of a rogue who can't be replaced with "Summon Monster N" for opening doors and removing traps.

I have this burning desire to play a full BAB melee martial and not be outclassed by the pets and eidolons when they get pounce.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

THAT...that is completely outlandish!

I had a couple of really good Drow character ideas. I had this great "Reformed Drow/Ex-Spoiled Princess" idea I wanted to run with.

One thing that struck me as odd was that in the new DnD, they added Drow to the "Racial Variations" of Base Class Elves, bringing this cookie jar everyone wants to open a little closer to the bottom shelf where little fat kids can open and stuff their faces.

And as long as we're on the subject of DnD, I always wanted to play the "reformed Mind Flayer" concept from Exalted Deeds.

Mad fool.

One more from me: I wanted to play a Vishkanya assassin, like really bad. Just a sneaky, poisonous bastard.

Cy the younger. Dwarven Magus that throws an electrified hedgehog into combat.

Soon...

we're running a non-PFS emerald spire that I'm playing an android spell-killer inquisitor of brigh, but my GM won't let me have a bazooka. it sucks.

Pun-Pun. It'd be fun to actually run him to the "level of ascension" and explore how his partymembers react.

To be a member of an all half-celestial party with mythic tiers.

Then again, when I want over the top, I play superhero RPGs. PCs that are bulletproof, fly, and can juggle cars are considered typical. You want outlandish back story? A typical superhero origin story is wildly outlandish (survive a nuclear blast? Bitten by a genetically modified weasel? Is actually a living star that has taken human form? You get the idea).

Sczarni 3/5

I wanted to play a half-orc totem skald that turned into an octopus... so that I might hum dubstep and enrage everyone into electrically-charged flight with my awful music skills.

1/5

I statted out a Gnome Cleric of Dispater, he had selective dazing channels from level 1 with a 20 charisma. Decided it would be no fun for the other players and just never registered it.

Owl animorporph wizard, druid, celestial rider (prc) with leadership.
Paladin/?? Mystic Theurge.
Half-dragon troll fighter (with potions of resist fire.)

The mystic brourge.

Bloodrager Primalist and dual cursed oracle with lame and legalistic curse ( or your choice ). Go into Rage Prophet. Now you can use arcane and divine spells, wands, scrolls. He is a scholar cursed by an ancient spirit of extreme bro rage that overtakes him in times of stress. Eventually he can call upon this spirit to directly aid him.

He is as useful off the field as he is on the field, where he can frontline damage brawl.

Bro.

I actually built a PFS-legal character concept similar to this in a random thread asking about Summoner multiclassing. Check it out.

Some of these are so wrong and yet feel so right.

A druid w a pair of squid on his back firing him around like a jet pack.

Why can't we do something simple... like a ghost rogue... 7d6 from ghost touch attack, and then add in sneak attack, invisibility, intangiblity... its not really that insane, but it is mean

Grand Lodge 4/5

Shadow Rogue, maybe? If the sneak attack also does Strength damage....

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I wanted to do a Shackleborn Fiendflayer umm...gimp who wears a gag and communicates by carving messages upon his flesh until his maste...uh, herald is available.

Yeah, I'm saving this for Rappan Athuk or something, I guess

Sovereign Court 4/5

For a brief moment I had an elf oracle who had the hearing curse (deaf), and I also made her mute.

She sucked in every way possible. And to your next question, yes.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

It worked in textual form though. Reminded me of some kind of Fallout dialogue. IIRC, there was a mute companion in one of the games and one had to use various skills to understand her communication.

I had the idea for a catfolk beastmaster druid with a pride of lions at her beck and call. She would be the Lion Queen! =^.^=

Grand Lodge

Always thought a Medusa riding a Gorgan would be pretty nasty. I realize this would never be possible as a PC it would make one vicious BBEG.

I like the idea of a good medusa who wears a helmet that basically works like a hooded lantern. She can see fine through the snakes, but can open up the face mask to turn enemies to stone if things get out of hand.

So, I was GMing On Sharrowsmith's Trail this weekend, and got mugged by a character concept during a dinner break.

Gnome Riftwarden cultist of Black Butterfly. metamagic-reduction traits to make silent still prestidigitation something that he can do any time, any where.

Fully bleached (for no mechanical benefit). uses the prestidigitation to pass as "normal" gnome coloration.

until it's time to be the Buterfly's Sting. Then the war paint comes on and you get the purely blacked out angry gnome casty.

I haven't figured out how to make the mechanics fun at the table, but the concept got me terrible glares from Farrindor...

In 3.5 I had a wizard with a cat familiar I had permanently polymorphed into a halfling. Got him a riding cat. When sh*t got real, "(tenser's)transformation" on my halfling familiar.

I'm still looking for the option to be an intelligent flying sword that projects the illusion of a wielder.

I had a cursed sword in another game... my character was the sword, and the person who picked me up became my equipment... It was hilarious... in one fight, my wielder (an old man) was unable to beat a young, strong, swordsman. I had my puppet throw the sword to his opponent (Who didn't know the sword was cursed/intelligent) the poor fool caught it.

This is so stupid/brilliant.

Zamphyr the Dhampyr, flautist without peer!

2/5

A dire half dragon half giant fey barbarian. Would have roughly 5 int and over 30 str and con at barbarian level 1.

Shadow Lodge

Nymph Oracle of Nature/Mystery cultist of Arshea, for charisma to AC three times.

I wanted to play a Monk of the Empty Hand sunder specialist using a prestige-purchased Adamantine Wayfinder as his primary weapon as soon as I had the PP to afford it.

So, start the game and immediately ascend? Pun-Pun's level of ascension is 1.

Anyway, for something more on-topic, there's my Flurry of Bows character idea. Monk of the Empty Hand that chucks longbows at people.

1/5

Alchemist with all the discoveries spent in tentacles.

Dark Archive 4/5

Dwarven Drunken Master/Witch with Prehensile Hair/alchemist third arm

2 hands for fighting, extra hand and hair for ale and dwarven spirits..

Wheres the Keg? (this was a group laugh at 3am at a con last weekend)

Sovereign Court 2/5

A ninja called Shotaro the Magnificent who had a 39 to Disarm, and a Glove of Storage.

He'd disarm someone's weapon, retract it into his glove, yell "TADA!!!", then vanish as a swift action.

I have 2

4th Level Death Machine:
Urban Barbarian 2, Claw Rage Power
Fighter 2
Berserker of the Society Trait

Weapon Finesse, Risky Striker (B), Piranha Strike (B), Extra Rage

Ring of Seven Lovely Colors and Agile Amulet of Mighty Fists

Assume Dex 20 at lvl 4, 14 Con 14 Wis 9 Cha.

Rage +4 Dex and claws 18 rounds per day (4 + Con base, 2 from lvl 2 barb, 3 from trait, 6 from feat, 1 from barbarian chew)

Claw/Claw/Bite + 13/+13/+13 to hit (+4 Bab + 9 Dex + 2 Size - 2 piranha strike (-1 AC from Risky Striker))

Damage is 1d3 + 17 (+ 9 dex, +4 piranha strike, +4 risky striker)

AC is 22 (Base 10, + 9 dex +2 size + 1 natural armor - 1 risky striker +1 deflection from ring) can have a wizard drop mage armor on you for more. A level of martial artist monk would pump your ac by 3 (2 from wis, 1 from dodge feat)

I grapple you with my mind:
Tetori Monk 1, Whitehaired Witch 2, Kensai Magus X focused on hair. Basically you start with high intelligence and dex, by level 4 you can grapple with your hair using Int for CMB and damage, with Arcane Accuracy you can use your Int to hit when you aren't grappling. Between Crab familiar and Magus exploits you can get your grappling mod to be insane esp. with Final Embrace feat.

3/5

I haven't had a chance to play my 20th-level aristocrat yet. That would be pretty sweet.

Totally stealing this.

A druid with fast empathy that uses wild empathy to get through the dungeon with the power of bellyrubs, making friends with animals, vermin, magical beasts and even oozes.

Oh wait...

Elf armed with musket. Quite possible in game Age of Wonders 3. Good fun :)
