I know this is a popular American meme, but it is as blatantly unfair as it is patently untrue. There's probably not an army on the planet that has done as well as the French over the years, your own included. This said by an Brit on the 199th anniversary of Waterloo, one of our proudest moments because we (with a lot of help from Dutch, Belgian and German troops) finally managed to defeat Napoleon.

[Bad Chekhov Impression]Ecktually, defeating Napolean was a Russian inwention.[/Bad Chekhov Impression]

But seriously, the "u" thing is dumb. You're just jealous because we're improving the language you goofed up. ;)

It really only appears dumb to people who don't try to pronounce it properly.

And watch it. We move like monks in the night*

* Canadians - Knew how to find the Whitehouse at night even before GPS

Utter lunacy. Monks don't have blindsight. You're thinking of evil, evil grimlocks.

Grimlocks, Monks, Canadians, what's in a name, as long as we understand each other.

Awesome! Free maple syrup!

Mmm, mmm. Looks like barbeque kobold marinaded in maple syrup for supper tonight.

One might go so far as to make Kobold Kalbi

Kobolds taste bad. It's Golarion canon.

Cheap shot racism is cheap shot racism, no matter who it is directed at, or how funny it's supposed to be. If someone had said the same about US forces there'd be 101 angry posts about it by now (and quite right too). Please don't.

I have heard of Napoleon. He, himself, wasn't French, though. Look it up.

It's okay. The same army that kicked the French out of Vietnam also kicked us out of Vietnam. We failed to the same armies.

I'm Canadian, not Golarion

Canadian, Golarion...just names, am I right?

I'm well aware he wasn't born French thanks, Virgil, though the man himself claimed he was French many times. And the hundreds of thousands of men with him were too. And one man (well, ok there were a few other foreigners in charge too from time to time) out of a long list stretching from Martel to LeClerc doesn't really change much, really.

I appreciate that you didn't make the comment with malice, but it's such an oft repeated and ill thought out fallacy that it really grates. Sorry for jumping on your case - it's a bit of a bête noire for me.

Nobody likes Napoleon birthers, Virgil.

You can eat dirt with enough BBQ sauce.

I actually learned a lot of my best French jokes from watching Brit comedy from the 70s, 80s, and 90s growing up. Moreso than anything we do here in the US. I think it was Rowan Atkinson who actually has a song called, "That's Why I Hate the French".

Goblin Squad Member

Of course, I only have 2 French jokes.

...I noticed that you used red and blue. Nice touch for what I think you mean to accomplish. Why is Roseblood blue? Are we Jedi-like or do we act like Democrats? Roseblood denotes red...twice...

I chose to keep it simple with primary colors and there was already a lot of green and yellow on the map. <Here> is the map with roseblood as red if that would suit it better. It really doesn't matter unless the Northern Coalition wants to be red as well.

The Northern Coalition and Roseblood Accord are groups of settlements that have their own threads on this forum. Keeping track of settlements who join a group of settlements via a list on the forums is much easier than keeping track of specific individual members from a large internet community and which specific settlements they have joined. I also doubt it would be completely accurate.

The purple auras were created to help me keep the map updated from week to week. When I update the map, I highlight which settlements are no longer the same to help me not miss any changes when I update the names. I decided to go ahead and leave it in this week.

I created my map because I don't like the Goblinworks map. Having others find it helpful is a bonus.

Now... time for haiku:

The roseblood is red
The coalition is blue
Next week's will be too

If everyone joins the RB, do we all become red and NC becomes purple?
Only half of Talonguard is in the RB, can we be pink?

That is the extent of my colorful questioning.

P.S. Please take these comments in good color theory fun, and try not to find hidden meanings.

Oh, so they are. I hadn't refreshed the page.

I'd appreciate if they were on the legend for clarity, though.

The two hidden (and obviously intentional) messages seem to be related. Interesting find.

sorry to further derail by feeding the Kobold, but I'm fond of it

Cleaver, I'm only a (part time) end user of the English language, not representing the inventors or assignees. My concern for the quality of processed language products is purely selfish and not to be confused with national pride.

National pride though compels me to say that mentioning the silly Imperial systems was a thoughless move of you, as I happen to live in the first country to officially adopt metric.

..

Maybe that would make better factions in the game than alignment? metric vs imperial?

IMPERIAL KICKS ASS!

My motivations are fluid, ambiguous, and probably just geared to piss someone off.

Also, om nom nom. Thanks for this tasty kalbi.

Of course, by that definition, they aren't native either, because they traveled via a series of island hopping from the pacific prior to the last ice age. (At least, that's the current theory. The land bridge theory is soooooo 5 years ago.)

But if you also go by that line of thinking, the French aren't even truly French. Because most current Europeans came from a tribe of humans that originated in Northern Asia. What are believed to be the original Europeans were pushed out by these invading tribes and ended up along the coast in the Iberian Peninsula in what is now known as Portugal.

Or, at least, that's what an anthropology major told me over a pint.

Have the southeastern settlements who have established a non-aggression pact given that organization a public name? I mean, we could call them the Southeastern Extraordinarily Polite Yobbos Non-Aggression Pact (SEEPY NAP), which would amuse me and make me want a cuddly blanket, but they should really have a chance to name themselves if they want to.
