Out of curiosity was this at 1st level? I'm curious

skillpoint wise they are pretty close

the talents and mods set them a bit apart though...just not at level 1

but technically if the mech goes drone he can hack/repair 2 things at once

will do, and good to hear

Going it alone is difficult. This Game is 1000 times better, played with a decent group.

Come be a part of something in the wilds of the North. Something that is not yet huge, where you can have a lerge impact. A bastion of law, order, comaraderie, great times, and some actual organization. We are welcoming and friendly.

Get geared. We have top notch crafting and a terrific variety of local resouces.

Get Your Achievements. We have pretty regular activities for monster bashing, Gathering, Escalation trimming, and exploring.

Great trained. We have friendly and experienced players that can show you a few tips and tricks.

We are looking for pro social people that know the difference between what is right and wrong, not just what is allowed by the system and what is not.

Take a look. Come hang out with us for a day or two. See if you like what we are doing and where we are heading.

you forgot to add "The ONLY Stronghold in the north" =P

...well other than Forgeholm but I consider that more of a Mountain Fortress ;)

Yeah, like when I ran up and realized my I was bugged and my attacks weren't working that one time... I gpunked the hell out of there and relogged to fix it.

wow, way to poke the bear ;)

but not at all the towers that were attacked, the aggressor still has the advantage of picking which tower

edit didnt see doc's post when i wrote

wasnt talking about tanking tier2 in particular just tanking in general
with the new mechanic

Goblin Squad Member

has anyone tested whether or not the utilities with the provoking keywords counteract the new changes to some degree when you are trying to tank for a group?

Yes. Having some of the stuff, before you level past it, would be nice.

At least when it involves gear that would be used. Collectables like the Daily Deals, I can wait for, I suppose. :)

i thought there were usable weapons in the daily deals?

if so i know that would help out some ppl not wanting to go all bubba clubba on dem mobs

Goblin Squad Member

ok thanks

Goblin Squad Member

Has anyone in alpha put together a list of keywords associated with specific items and skills for crossreference?

Cheatle's OP has a link in the 3rd sentence, it should link you to a small image template that you would just need to save and edit to create the design

K, was prolly my mind altering my memory on me. I just kinda see the permanent thing causing alot of requests for changes due to user error and whatnot. Also, with the paying extra money each month for another character to gain xp beyond what the account originally had, would be a bit less time consuming and complicated programming-wise if it was all on toggles.

Question:
Did they say what the permanent selection process of the twin would be yet Or are they still working on it with the DT's not coming in til shortly after beginning of EE?

Edit: Wow i type slow so many got in while i was typing

Goblin Squad Member

TEO Cheatle wrote:

Totally disagree with you on that one Valkenr.

If you want more than just one character logged in you should buy time for them, or at least buy an extra character slot.

Also, they have mentioned more than once that you can't play your main/DT at the same time. You have to log in with either one or the other.

I think I remember (of course i have horrible memory) reading that you will be able to select which character is the Main getting xp and the twin that gets xp. Would that mean by turning off the twins xp he is no longer considered a twin and may log in with the main until such time as you turn his twin XP back on?

saying he doesnt like the complete balance goal in battlegrounds means he enjoys battlegrounds?

As we relaunch our charter, we wanted to share some of our recent decisions as a settlement, and also make an appeal to like-community members:

1. Our commitment to independence. We have not currently signed up with either the Northern Coalition or the Roseblood Accord because we feel that one shouldn't have to join one group or another to feel like they can compete. We will forge our own path and our own destiny.

2. Our inclusion of 1-step companies and members. We would like to invite LN and NG players and members to consider joining, knowing that we plan to provide clerical training across the full alignment corner: LN/LG/NG. We also want to have POIs with Shrines dedicated to multiple good/lawful gods: we have members committed to building a shrine to Sarenrae, and want to to find members who will operate a POI to Abadar.

3. Innkeepers and Manor Lords wanted! We have existing companies committed to shrines and watchtowers, but seek diversity in POI management. We would gladly welcome and fully support a company that seeks to run their own POI in such a category.

4. Crafters and Gatherers wanted! We hope there are players who are as excited about building and supporting a settlement as others are about defending it! We need mighty smiths and artificers: ring-makers and dweomer-crafters. We need intrepid explorers willing to brave the wilderness to bring back the exotic (and quotidian) materials that will arm, guard, and grow a mighty fortress of righteousness and honor.

We need strong, committed individual players who want a safe, supportive place to make their mark. We need enthusiastic companies who have a take-charge attitude and want to run POIs. If you find any of this resonant and compelling, please consider joining our settlement, and walk the narrowest road.

Righteous valor, justice, and honor; the hardest road

I think there should be a mechanism to indicate that you are hostile towards another PC, and if that PC doesn't leave the immediate area in a reasonably short period of time you will be able to strike at them without penalty (and vice versa). You don't want to let bandits walk right up to you before you try to drive them off. This effect probably has to be tied to another action like caravaning or harvesting so people don't just use it as a free gank enabler. And it probably should only apply in Wilderness hexes.
Yes, it would work both ways. Your harvester should be able to tell someone approaching him--presumably to warn him off--to back off, or else. Bluffing, or mutual bluffing, is Meaningful Human Interaction.

"This effect probably has to be tied to another action like caravaning or harvesting so people don't just use it as a free gank enabler."

I interpret that as saying you must be harvesting nearby or in a caravan or some such action to envoke this. So if I'm just sitting there hitting rocks and sending you nasty PMs you can't come run me off. However I actually could run you off since I'm the one harvesting.

And when the group your taunting actually has a Harvester or Caravan type guy who can do this, your plan hits a wall

Goblin Squad Member

i would still say the Tier 3 mobs have their way with said newb gatherer

your examples pretty much describe how the hexes already are

The point is if I want to go harvest a Starfall hex you have to be at war with me to do anything about it.

From all reports in the alpha low rep characters are penalized so quickly they become unplayable in relatively short order.

This basically means I can make an unaffiliated alt and start go hitting starfall hexes prettymuch risk free. With SAD's being relegated to a factional mechanic I'm prettymuch entirely safe unless I join the merchant faction.

That doesn't sound very dangerous or contested to me. It sounds like part of the growing PFO forum culture that wants everything handed to it on a silver platter without having to risk anything to get ahead.

Except for the tier 3 mobs vs your lone gatherer with most likely low combat skills. Before the response of bringing more people with, if your not "lone" then you're not really unaffiliated

Goblin Squad Member

so its a future implementation that doesnt have a defined start as of yet

So basically at the start of EE SAD is either in with no faction req or it has the faction reqs which means its pretty much out due to lack of carrots to go with the stick

thanks BL i left that thread a bit before that part because it didnt seem like it was going anywhere

sorry for the sidetrack

Goblin Squad Member

can someone clarify the Merchant/Raider faction thing? Does that mean you cant be sad or sad unless you join a merchant or bandit faction? that just doesnt seem to make sense

"The obvious upside is it creates slightly more dangerous zones where players seeking both violence and profit can go. A huge upside to this is that when PvPers are occupied fighting over super valuable resources in star metal hexes they are less likely to be hanging around other areas trying to game the reputation system. They have better things to do. So it's good for both the PvPers and those wishing to avoid it."
~ Andius

So they wont be gaming the rep system in other places because it will be pre-gamed in the ffa hex?
edit to insert -- > that doesnt seem like an upside

Goblin Squad Member

giving people a reason to SAD you
I thought that was why the mechanic was put in in the first place?

Goblin Squad Member

could be refering to the decay rate that destroys a percentage of a harvestor's goods when he is killed or that the pvp will chase some away?

Goblin Squad Member

mmmm...chicken....tastes like kobold

Goblin Squad Member

i also thought that there was a post somewhere that there will be 100(i think that was the number) tier 1 nodes per 1 teir 2 node and about the same ratio in the amount of tier 2 nodes compared to tier 3 nodes.
so if i remember correctly 10100 nodes that are not tier 3(starmetal) nodes for every 1 that is....it seems a bit rare already

Goblin Squad Member

and with the "minimum viable population" what would the effect in the tower phase be if escalations did in fact overrun the town?

just wondering that even if they still own the settlement, is it really still owned if mobs are walking the streets and pitching tents outside the alehouse?

EDIT: also how far can they take over a tower hex or a tower for that matter?
