Survival in a world beset by magic and evil takes more than a lucky roll of the dice. Pathfinder Player Core 2 significantly expands options available to Pathfinder players, giving them the edge to take on any adventure. This 320-page hardcover rulebook remasters 8 classes from Pathfinder Second Edition, providing everything you need to create a wide array of new characters, ready to take on the world. It also includes more than 40 archetypes, expanded ancestries, and tons of feats, spells, and alchemical items to provide a near-endless array of exciting options for every Pathfinder character! The ideal character option resource for players looking to move beyond the Pathfinder Player Core.

Pathfinder Player Core 2 is the fourth core rulebook for the fully remastered Pathfinder Second Edition RPG! These rules are compatible with previous Pathfinder Second Edition rulebooks, incorporating comprehensive errata and rules updates and some of the best additions from later books into new, easier-to-access volumes with new presentations inspired by years of player feedback. Along with the Player Core, GM Core, and Monster Core, these books provide a new foundation for the future of tabletop gaming!

Pathfinder Player Core 2 includes:

  • Eight fully detailed classes, including the alchemist, barbarian, champion, investigator, monk, oracle, sorcerer, and swashbuckler, each containing multiple character paths, multiclassing options, and dozens of feats!
  • Expanded ancestry options include the catfolk, gnoll, hobgoblin, kobold, lizardfolk, ratfolk, and tengu, alongside three versatile heritages—the dhampir, duskwalker, and an all-new heritage debuting in this volume!
  • More than 40 archetypes, allowing you to further customize your character’s story and abilities. Turn your hero into an aerial acrobat, a high-riding cavalier, a treacherous pirate, and so much more!
  • Spells, alchemical items, and magic items to round out the new classes and to provide some new tricks to the classes from Pathfinder Player Core.
  • Fully integrated errata from the first 4 years of Pathfinder Second Edition, including a revised alchemist, champion, and oracle!
  • Published under the new Open RPG Creative (ORC) license, giving players and Game Masters even more freedom for making their own creations based on Pathfinder Second Edition.

Note: This product is part of the Pathfinder Rulebook Subscription.

Since it's that time of the year I'll write a letter with my wishes for the player core 2 to Old Mage Jatembe:

- hope to see 3 tenets for the champion: holy, unholy and neither (also maybe a new cause based on keeping the balance?)
- draconic bloodline for the sorcerer that lets you choose one between all four traditions (since the new dragons are tied to them)
- elemental bloodline that gives different spells based on the element chosen (like the genie one does)
- mysteries that grant some more spells to the oracle repertoire and not only 1 cantrip.

Bonus point: magus with both class and spell DCs that scale up to master (like ranger, monk and champion do)

Since I don't want to open an entire thread about it on the main forum, here's mine: Automatic increases to the areas for the Champion's Reaction (i.e. upgrades to 20' at lvl 5, 25' at lvl 10, 30' at level 15, 35' at level 20), because opponents tend to get bigger at higher levels and it's stupid that the feature just stops working when a gargantuan opponent uses its superior reach.

Can't see dragon in cover, so this one might not be final.

For those not knowing if they are seeing the final cover or not: The placeholder had red spine and have Seela, Seoni, Fumbus, and Sajan, taking most of the cover space.
The final one had a green spine, and an orangish dragon (Seoni transformed into a conspirator dragon) riden by fumbus, while Jirelle is carried by the dragon by holding on Seoni's staff. They are flying toward a horned cyclop preparing to throw a big boulder.

Thank you for the explanation of the cover, I appreciate it.

Will the Player Core 2 also have the rules, so that a player doesn't need to have both this book and Player Core 1 with them to play a class from Player Core 2?

It won't. The original "Advanced Player's Guide" was about 50 pages less, and had 4 classes less. Assuming a similar amount of content density/diversity on the 270ish pages APG had, these 50 "new" pages won't be enough for that PLUS the extra classes and ancestries (gnolls, hobgoblins, and lizardfolks were not part of the APG back then).

They also need space for reintroducing alchemical items here, that were completely removed from the first core.

Sorry if i am being silly. What is the difference between Player Core and Player core 2?

Despite the title, Player Core 2 doesn't contain the core rules required for play. Rather, it contains additional classes, races, feats, etc. useful to people who already have Player Core.

In short, if you're looking to get into the game, you need Player Core.

Or use Archives of Nethys which will, hopefully soon, be updated with all the content of the new Remaster books. It's both free and official.

Hoping that PC2 and the new Beastiary will also release with sketch covers! I was able to pick up PC1 and GMC from my local game store with the sketch cover and absolutely love the aesthetic!

We will have hobby retail exclusive sketch hardcovers for the Pathfinder rulebook line into the foreseeable future, including Monster Core, Player Core 2 and Howl of the Wild.

Will this book have a rewrite of the Captivator archetype? Captivating minds would like to know. :) If not, are there plans to errata it for a 2nd level entrance rather than 4th?

Will the Red Mantis be in here by chance?

Thanks

Tom

Interesting that there's only eight classes detailed. Are Cleric and Wizard no longer viable options for future material anymore?

Player Core classes got their feats and subclasses from the CRB and the APG, plus a few new feats, all merged into 1 book. Player Core 2 will do the same thing with their 8 classes, as well as have the archetypes from the APG in there as well.

Cleric and Wizard are detailed in Player Core 1, which is already out.

There were twelve classes in the CRB, and four more in the APG. Those sixteen classes have been/are being remastered, eight in Player Core 1 and eight in Player Core 2.

I wonder if Synesthesia will finally make the ORC jump in this book...

All signs point to no... because it will be printed in Prey For Death, the first Remastered adventure, where the PCs will play as Red Mantis Assassins forced to clear their names. The page just came up today, and James Jacobs confirmed that the archetype will be there.

Should do, three months after this comes out.

Something I’m wondering.

PC1 didn’t have Specific Familiars (which was odd, I thought that would’ve been the place to put it so that all familiars rules are in the same place).

And it isn’t mentioned at all in PC2. Which would mean, Specific Familiars are no longer core rules.

Did Paizo just remove Specific Familiars from Pathfinder 2e?

(Which is odd, because I thought Specific Familiars were a beautiful, elegant, and balanced design method.)

Specific familiars were introduced in the APG. Check out its product page and you'll see there is no mention of them there!

This is a big book, if something isnt mention in the small product blurb that doesn't mean it's "removed"!

Good to know! Thanks!

Yeah, this started after the recent second system upgrade (at least, it did for me), & clearing cookies/cache doesn't seem to fix anything (& it's on both desktop & mobile versions for me)...

:(

Hopefully this'll be addressed.

I've flagged* both your & my posts to bring this to the attention of the moderator(s), who may be in a better position to let the relevant team know about this issue. (Sorry in advance for the off topic & extra work...)

Carry on,

Has there been any indication what sorcerer bloodlines will be included?

We are not in the preview phase for this book yet, still waiting for the Monster Core to be released first. Maybe go ask Luis on his Twitch streams.

Draconic might change a lot, depending on how they do it... It *might* become a "tradition wildcard" bloodline, where the specific type of dragon would decide your tradition, as new "main" Dragons are not only "arcane" anymore, but split across the 4 traditions.

It might even be split into 4 bloodlines!

If anything has really quirked me about the new Sorcerer, it's that your bloodline fixes the type of magic you can use. I'd rather have it be a player choice to have the flavor of a specific bloodline with whatever magic list you want to use.

I think this is something they are doing for all hardcovers moving forward as an incentive for gaming stores.

Michael Sayre is currently on stream right now with TheBadLuckGamer, and just spoiled a really cool thing from Player Core 2, and will also be in conjunction with the errata with Guns & Gears: The Dual Weapon Warrior's Dual Weapon Reload is changing from a bespoke action to a rider effect, where whenever you would Interact to Reload, you can Reload 2 weapons (one in each hand). And the rider will apply to all of the cool special Gunslinger reloads.

This is gonna be SO good for Pistolero Gunslingers! Cannot wait!

And now Mike Sayre spoiled something else! A new 20th level capstone feat for Monks! Focused for grappling builds. And it's called "God Breaker"!

SO FRICKIN' COOOOOOOOOOL!!!

Mike Sayre on Discord corrected himself, and I'll copy/paste what he said exactly.

"To clarify, I misspoke in the way I described that. DWR doesn't add additional action compression, it's just no longer a bespoke action. So when you're using two weapons you can do all your cool reload stuff including reloading a weapon in either hand with your gunslinger reloads, but you're not reloading both weapons with a single action on all your other reload abilities."
