Doesn't the Science Officer have to use their action to provide that, like how a Captain has to choose who they want to give their Encourage bonus to? I thought that the Science Officer had patched the engines this round so I couldn't use that specific bonus (not that it would have helped that lousy dice roll anyway).

Pretty sure it's a free +2 whenever so long as it's only 2 per round. Also I made it as clear as I could that I targeted their weapon system.

Not sure how to declare my action much better than spelling it out with roll, action, and skill/insight bonuses. But open to suggestions if it's still unclear.

The bonuses listed in the Modifiers row of the ship stats are freely available. You don't need an action to use them. So the pilot will always get a +1 on their rolls. Sci Officer (or anyone else using the computer, but I don't think anyone else does in the basic rules) gets a +2 if they are using the computer.

The "+1 to any two checks per round" can be used by anyone, including the pilot or Science Officer. The crew just has to decide which tasks need those +1's, and that's situational each round.

The computer bonus can be applied to any combat roll: "In general, an ICM adds a flat circumstance bonus to one or more starship combat checks, decided just before the check is attempted." Core Rule Book p. 297.

It doesn't have to be using the computer skill. It could be a gunnery check, an engineering roll, etc. I think it could even apply to the Captain's actions, since they are part of combat.
