@Vayelan, sounds like we're ready to take off. OOC, do we have a plan for how Aaron is getting introduced to the party?

Aaron Sarris |

To clarify, the reason i am not buffing everyone with heroism or other spells now is that i don't have a clear idea of the scope of the valley and travel speed yet. Were it to take us hours to find anything worthwhile, all his 10 minute/level buffs like heroism would have expired. If Aaron only buffs himself initially he would lose only two spellslots were that to happen.

I just wanted to let you know thanks much for your efforts, we appreciate it.

Okay. Sorry for the delay. A strong bout of stomach illness jumped from the daycare into our household, so the past week has been very messy, both figuratively and literally.
Anyhow, I've updated the encounter map. The gray clouds represent the fog that covers the valley, with the non-magical equivalent of a Fog Cloud spell. You can hear the ogres somewhere within the fog, busying themselves among this part of the abandoned encampment.
You can adjust your starting positions on the map and roll initiative.

Thorek Ironspark |

Glad you're feeling better Vayelan! Hope the missus and the little ones didn't have too hard a time

Thorek Ironspark |

Everyone doing okay? We've been on a slow patch lately :/

Daria the Healer |

Daria is fine. Just waiting to see what is in the box...

Aaron Sarris |

Hey everyone,
I unfortunately have some bad news. As some of you know, I was recently promoted a few times at work in relatively quick succession. As such, my writing time has suffered greatly. I held off on this the longest time to see if it would improve, thinking it might just be me having to get used to things in the new positions, but it hasn't and is expected to get busier rather than cool down. As such, I am more or less forced to drop from at least a number of campaigns I was in. I ultimately decided to withdraw from this one as the newest one as well. I'm very sorry for this, as I know the group of writers is excellent. However, I can't pay the bills with PBP, sadly. I wish you all the best of luck and fun.
Kind regards,
Trevor/Aaron

Grenwold Houtvester |

Sorry to hear that Aaron.
@Vayelan, I’m happy to reconfigure my PC to take over trapfinding/disabling if you’d like. It’s only minor changes. Please let me know!

Thorek Ironspark |

Hey Vayelan,
I'm sorry that real life has been giving you a hard time, I wish the best for you and yours. The world's really messy and messed up right now.
I would hate to see the game die after all this time, but I'll defer to the rest of the group's preferences.

Hi, I’ve been a bit busy, but I agree with Thorek for my part. I’d be happy to keep playing. I certainly have tried enough times - so many I almost think this module is cursed for me!
If we can find another GM it would be great.

Grenwold Houtvester |

That’s fine with me. If you have no objections, I’ll make some changes to my PC to be able to do the trapfinding role alone.
So far you’ve been a good GM, and I was having fun, so I’d hate to lose you.

Daria the Healer |

I’d be happy to keep playing too. Just let me know if I need to adjust anything as we move forward.

Thorek Ironspark |

I would very much like this campaign not to wither on the vine--if you think you have the bandwidth to keep going, Vayelan, I'm happy to keep going with you at the helm. But I don't want you to feel like you have to keep going for our sakes if life's getting busy.

Grenwold Houtvester |

I’m happy to make minor adjustments in order to facilitate all the trapfinding/scouting but if you want to look for an arcane support it might be good. Iirc troops are really only vulnerable to aoes (I don’t know how much they'll come up again, though). I have a few myself but considering they’re sort of tertiary to my “build” there isn’t much.

Sorry to go back on my word, but I don't think I can continue, after all.
There have been some more significant changes in my life, and I'll actually be retiring from running games here on the forums.
I can leave the campaign active if you guys would like to search for a new GM.
Thank you all for playing.

Sorry to hear that, but life happens to us all. Thanks for the years of fun gaming!

Thorek Ironspark |

Thank you for running games for us for all this time! Wishing you the best, Vayelan.
@party, I realize our momentum on this campaign has been quite low for a while now, but do we want to try to recruit a new GM and see if we can renew it?

Thorek Ironspark |

I'm happy to make a post asking about a new GM, if anyone else is still interested. Could I get some confirmation either way, friends?

Daria the Healer |

I would be good with a reinvigorated campaign or a graceful end, though I prefer to keep going if possible given the new people who have joined us and not gotten to do much yet. How much of the AP is left?

Grenwold Houtvester |

I think a little less than half. I'll be happy to keep playing if we can find another GM, and as I said, I can reconfigure my PC to fully serve the scout role easily so we don't have to find anyone else.

Thorek Ironspark |

Longshadow is Book 3 (I know the general outline since I'd intended to run it for an IRL table) so we're right at the start of Book 4.
I'll put a feeler out in the Recruitment channel and see what we see

We have an offer! I don't remember if I've ever gamed with Spazmodeus before, but feel free to check out the thread. :)

I checked it out, no objections. Thanks for working on this.
I'm going to assume pre-emptively that I'll rebuild around solo-scouting and trapfinding.

Daria the Healer |

I'd be happy with Spazmodeus! I could also adjust Daria if needed for the continuing campaign--I know many DM's have different adjudications on wild shape and may or may not want Herbalism to be in play.

Hi guys....hello again BG!
I'm not going to upset the balance you guys have been running with, it seems to have worked so far.
Feel free to re-gig , re-build as needed.
Looks like your Herbalism is just crafting re-skinned. I don't see anything wrong with it...yet :)
I'll be reading over the gameplay and discussion over the next week. Maybe looking to startup again by the end of next week, if all goes well.

Has anyone heard from Lily recently? last post from her was early December

If Lily doesn't show back up, do we want to recruit another character here before we get started again? Probably the most convenient time to do so.

Thorek Ironspark |

There was that gent who popped into the Recruitment thread to offer a dwarf archer. @Daria he said y'all had played together before, what do you think?

From what I recall, he was an active, team player. Would be good in my opinion. Here is his alias from the game we played in: https://paizo.com/people/SnorriScionOfTharnhammer

A dwarf might make sense from a roleplaying perspective as well.

Hey guys
Request to take over the campaign has been sent. Though I don't hold out hope for a quick resolution. I've been trying to take over another campaign for the last few months...4 emails later....nothing done. so it may be a wait and see.
I've caught up on the gameplay and just need to do some more reading of the AP itself before starting back up.
I'll send an PM to our new dwarf friend and work on figuring out his introduction. That'll give us Grenwold, Daria, Thorek and the new guy. And maybe Lily if they ever returns.
On another matter, just a heads up on how I'll be running things. Mainly for keep the waiting on a post for a roll to a minimum.
I'll roll initative for everyone, I'll spoiler knowledge/perception results that are applicable. I'll even roll saving throws while in combat where appropriate to keep things moving.
The previous GM used a system of If xx hits you, you take 33 damage
I'll be figuring that all out and providing descriptive text , such as The orc smashes Kordeck with his huge sword. 33 damage
Also, I'll be adding a status block to the bottom of each combat post, like this:
Stat Tracker
Global Condition: |Party Condition:
Thordek HP: 75/75 - AC: 20/14/16 Status:
Grenwold: HP: 54(+4)/54 - AC: 18/12/15 Status:
Daria HP: 59/59 - AC: 23/21/13 Status: paralyzedNPCs:
Montster HP : -108? AC: 23 status : prone
This way , it helps me and you, keep track of hp, status conditions etc.
And you can see if I miss anything :)The npc block will provide a count of damage dealt. a ? means that there might be some damage resistance going on. The AC will show the lowest hit roll to hit that monster or Npc. And of course status will show any current conditions or spell effects etc that are in effect.
that's it for now. Now, back to my reading!

My PC has that much or so, since I joined relatively recently. I’m not sure if the others.
Note: I still have to adjust things to take that trapfinder roll completely. Unfortunately I got bedridden in the middle of last week and lost access to my desktop until my injury heals. I can manually update it without HL but it’ll take a bit of extra work, so please bear with me regarding traps until then.

Javell DeLeon |

Hello all! And thanks for having me! I appreciate it.
Real quick, @Grenwold: My guy is a Ranger who is going to take the Trapper archetype that can deal with traps exactly like the Rogue.
That way, you don't have to worry about traps.
What do you think?
(Unless, you just want to that is. Which is fine too. Just thought I'd throw that out there for you. Unsure if you're doing it because you want to or you feel you need to, so that's why I threw that out there).

Javell DeLeon |

Dorrin This is the guy I'll be running but I'm going to be making some changes.
So the mechanics aren't 100% spot on at all, but it's pretty much the gist of him.

Thorek Ironspark |

I just tallied up the items and Thorek appears to have ~122,000gp of items. The big culprit looks to be the Bracers of Sworn Vengeance which is 25k by itself. I'm happy to just EDIT THE UNIVERSE and drop some items to get to the correct loot balance.

Well, I have some modularly boosted bonuses to stealth and perception, and other tricks like increased movement speed and flight, that make my PC and his companion pretty good at scouting, but if you want to do it instead I could avoid those changes.

No! Heck no! Don't do that. What you got, you got. It makes no difference to me. I don't really care one way or another. Me personally, I'd hate to come in here with WBL and you all were sitting at, like, 50,000g or something. That would make me feel guilty.
No, this works perfect. I've got no issues with you all being over the WBL. I just didn't want any of y'all to be under it and me WAY over y'all. That actually makes me feel a ton of relief.
Don't dare drop anything, please. All good here. *thumbs up*
(This goes for everyone, by the way). :)

Heck yeah! I'll do it. I've already got it implemented. No worries at all. I actually prefer it over Skirmisher. I just got to get it on his sheet. It's taken me a bit longer than I thought it would, but I'll get it there. Probably be tomorrow, though.
And that freaking Elk is awesome! So freaking cool.
