GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
This is an adopted table from GM Joseph Rauel's Kingmaker
☄. *. ⋆ About GM Ventiine’s Kingmaker ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Kingmaker requires a lot of bookkeeping. This lengthy post will outline how I will run things. I am looking for players who communicate, are organized, and have patience.
Character Build (Required for submission)
➢ This is Pathfinder First Edition.
➢ 20 Point Buy.
➢ Hit Points are determined PFS style. (Max at first level, average +1 for all subsequent levels.)
➢ Average class starting gold.
➢ Use Unchained versions when applicable.
➢ 2 Traits (At least one from the Kingmaker Player's Guide.)
➢ 2 Background/Adventurer Skills. (Use the AONPRD list *here.*)
➢ Favored Class Bonus when applicable. (Extra skill point or health point)
➢ No Evil Alignments. (Controlling or communication with the dead is fine.)
➢ Players each get 1 Hero Point. (For use on self, familiar, or animal companion.)
➢ Additional information under the General Campaign Q&A spoiler.
Character And Player Background (Required for submission)
You may private message me your answers if you don’t want to answer them here.
① A brief description of your character’s appearance.
② Describe at least one family member, friend, or mentor of your character. (I will make them an NPC in the world. You may make or assist with the stat block if you like.)
③ Why do you (the player) want to play Kingmaker PbP?
④ What is your comfort level with Google Sheets, managing a Loot sheet, and Kingdom Sheets?
⑤ OPTIONAL FOR A BONUS 500 STARTING GOLD (In addition to your average class starting wealth.) Go through the steps of the very first Kingdom Turn Sequence and one Kingdom Turn Sequence after. You will start with 50 build points. Please look at the Campaign Info tab spoiler “Guinea Pig Kingdom Sheet” for additional info. Private message me with the link to your work and a brief explanation of what you did. Just try your best.
➢ Any extra information on how you might progress your character is appreciated.
➢ Organize your information neatly in a post or profile so it’s easy for me to read.
➢ Play a class you know or feel comfortable learning. I don’t mind answering occasional questions but I will have a lot of bookkeeping to keep track of.
Experience. This is my second time GMing on the Paizo forums. My first game was Ruins of Azlant (Books 1-3) The purpose of GMing half of the Ruins of Azlant AP was to 1) see if I could do it, 2) get a feeling of what it takes to GM PbP
Motivation. My motivation for this campaign is to experience the Kingmaker AP, make friends, and have fun with worldbuilding. Leshys likely to be included.
Preparation. I created slides and other materials to digest the story. As we progress, I will pull from these Master Copies to blank shared documents. The blank shared documents will be linked at the top.
Please note: these are not intended for sale or redistribution. These were made with love specifically for my table. When my table concludes, they will be deleted. (This goes for my Azlant game as well.)
Kinship. I’m a pretty direct person, but I never have malicious intent. If I hurt your feelings please tell me. I don’t want you to have a bad day due to a silly misunderstanding. I expect everyone to come to the table with a teamwork-oriented outlook.
Final Notes.
1. I appreciate people taking the time to put quotation marks and bold formatting around speech. I think it makes reading easier and more fluid.
2. Include links to other online discussions when asking me for a ruling. When in doubt, go for build options that have answers. I will already have a lot of bookkeeping.
➢ We are following the Kingmaker Pathfinder 1e Adventure Path books 1-6 story.
➢ This Adventure Path starts at level 1 and ends with the party leveling from 16 to 17.
➢ Pathfinder Kingmaker is a sandbox campaign.
➢ You will level up at story checkpoints.
➢ I will try to adjust enemies to match APL.
➢ We will be using Pathfinder 1e Kingdom Building rules.
➢ We will be using Pathfinder 1e Mass Combat rules.
➢ You do not need to keep track of weight or rations unless you want to.
➢ Players may craft items or have a profession(s). See the Campaign Info tab for additional info.
➢ No Multiclassing. (Not my cup of tea.)
➢ No Prestige Classes. (I’m not familiar enough with it.)
➢ No Third-Party Sources. (Try to use aonprd.)
➢ No Elephant in the Room feat taxes. (Not my cup of tea.)
➢ No Tech Themes or Guns. This is a “traditional” fantasy game.
➢ No Summoners.
➢ Absolutely No Stealing for other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.)
➢ Absolutely No CCing other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.)
➢ Absolutely No Injuring other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.)
➢ I will be using Google Slides for combat maps so it’ll be easier if you have a computer.
➢ I don’t plan on intentionally missing any written combat encounters. (I think I’ve only missed 2 in my Azlant game.)
➢ CR will remain the same for 4-5 players. I will add +1 CR with 6 players.
➢ My goal is to post once or twice a day. This includes Discussion posts.
➢ Try to post once a day if you can. Discussion posts count.
➢ I require a minimum of two players in agreement to progress to another hex/room/place.
➢ Players will be responsible for managing loot.
➢ I love players who help out other players with rules questions, linking their sources.
➢ I like it when players hyperlink spells and such on their character sheet.
➢ I use prd/Nethy’s and Paizo’s books for rules clarification.
➢ I tend to avoid d20pfsrd because I have found discrepancies in the past.
➢ The party will be given a wand of cure light wounds with 50 charges at the start.
➢ Tweaks are absolutely fine until the submission deadline.
➢ I don’t want to kill your character, but monsters/certain NPCs do.
➢ I am only running one Kingmaker table with 5-6 players.
➢ I anticipate Kingmaker taking two to five years.
➢ If I make a mistake during combat, please tell me. Preferably with aonprd sources linked.
➢ If you read this far, you may have a third trait if you type owlbear on your recruitment post.
➢ When I post about a new area, I will post some, but not all, related skill rolls in spoilers. It’s the honor system. I don’t care if you look, but please don’t let it impact your character’s knowledge.
➢ I will try to pick players with varying levels of Pathfinder and PbP experience.
➢ If you are new to the forums, I recommend taking a look at Doomed Hero’s PbP Guide or some of Painlord’s guides. They articulate a lot of good points and I try to follow their tenants myself.
➢ I expect everyone to be respectful of one another. Sometimes tone is difficult to read in text, so over-communicate and use emojis when in doubt.
✓ I will roll Initiative and Perception checks for combat to help keep a steady pace.
✓ I will spoiler most Skill rolls when a new area is revealed to help keep a steady pace.
✓ I will be including links to images on posts for a more immersive feel.
✓ I created six visual “storybooks” (one for each book) in Google Slides that I will unveil for immersion as we progress.
✓ I have a hex map of each book (that uses hexes) I will update with each new quest area.
✓ I have a comprehensive hex map of the Stolen Lands that I will keep updated.
✓ I will keep a running list of NPCs and links to first encounter posts.
✓ I will keep a running "Master Copy" tab of loot on the Loot sheet.
✓ I will roll checks for the Kingdom Turn Sequence and maintain the Kingdom Sheet.
✓ I will provide occasional recaps with links to previous recaps.
① Players will try to post once a day unless on vacation/sick/hiatus. I understand life happens.
② Players will keep track of their current AC and HP. (In case I make a mistake.)
③ Players will keep track of personal gear, ammo, and spell durations. This includes bonuses to hit and damage rolls.
④ Players will move their icons on combat maps.
⑤ Players will be responsible for managing personal loot and communicating what loot they want.
⑥ Players will communicate how they want their kingdom to develop.
⑦ Players will communicate extended absences so we don’t worry about you!
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ If You Have Additional Time * ˚ ✦
I recommend looking at the Campaign Tab where I have outlined several “How we are handling” sections on post formatting, combat, party loot, crafting, professions, kingdom building, mass combat, and purchasing limits.
Thanks!

@Angus thanks for asking, but I think my initial Discussion post is already asking a lot of you all. I like cavaliers. I actually played a mounted paladin build which was similar to a cavalier in the tabletop Wrath of the Righteous. My feats were: Power Attack, Mounted Combat, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Furious Focus, (and at 9 the GM let me homebrew Monsterous Mount Mastery to replace Loyalty as my Tier 2 Mythic power.) I rode a horse, then swapped to a griffon at level 9.
Let's set the character deadline for Monday, August 21st. If we need more or less time we can revisit that arbitrary date.
I will open the Gameplay between Saturday, August 19 - Monday, August 21st. This is because I want to make sure I know who all the players at the table are going to be.
Angus Elphinstone |
I've got Angus and Harbinger's numbers updated, I'm still working on the items purchased. I'm working on the "steps of the very first Kingdom Turn Sequence and one Kingdom Turn Sequence after."
The 500 gp. will allow me to keep armor for harbinger (the original build had max on gold so I could afford armor for him)
August 21st sounds great. Again, we really appreciate you picking the game up. Do you perchance use Discord for quicker discussions? It's very similar to GMEuan's 'Slack' account, just different.
Rhiann Sokol |
Thanks for setting up the new thread. I'll repost what I did in the ither one.
I've updated Rhiann (also switched her preferred weapon and fighting style, and updated her backstory). Her father and sister are both potential NPC options, and I've included a stat block for her sister that can come into play later.
I'm probably planning on her taking leadership later on anyway, so Larelle (her younger sister) may be her cohort in that respect (she'd likely send for her family to come to the newly formed kingdom once that happens).
As far as character progression, probably taking feats to enhance the use of her fauchard, including improving combat maneuvers and attacks of opportunity, with Weapon trick likely being my level 2 feat to provide options using her reach weapon up close, as well as better options for tripping.

Both included in character sheet
③ Why do you (the player) want to play Kingmaker PbP?
The idea of settling an area, adventuring and building a kingdom with others as a cooperative effort is appealing.
④ What is your comfort level with Google Sheets, managing a Loot sheet, and Kingdom Sheets?
I quite often end up being the one managing loot in games I'm in, and I'm willing to give the Kingdom sheets a shot

@Angus, I do have Discord. My original handle is Ventiine#9252. I think it's just Ventiine now.
@Rhiann, thank you for the repost! Yes, the Leadership feat definitely fits with his Aventure Path! Go for it!
I have invited Ever_Anon's gnome bard, Lucky Bignoodle, to the table. Welcome!
This weekend I'll take a close look at everyone's characters and see where we are with attendance. Hopefully, it won't be too big of an owlbear.
Angus Elphinstone |
@Angus, I do have Discord. My original handle is Ventiine#9252. I think it's just Ventiine now.
Do we want a discord channel for this game? We had one for the other game, I think it makes things a little easier.
edit: I'm still working on the Kingdom builder thing, is there a due date on that?
Rhiann Sokol |
Welcome Lucky!
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |

@Angus, we could start a Discord channel if you all want. Let's wait until more people chime in.
For the Kingdom Turn Sequence, try to have it done by the time we start posting in the Gameplay thread. Depending on what you buy, it may impact gameplay.
Alyssa Feuilindë |
I'd like to give a warm welcome to Lucky!
I think I have updated Alyssa in line with your build rules, but please say if there's anything I should change.
You can find my answers to the Character and Player background questions below:
① A brief description of your character’s appearance.
Included in the character profile.
② Describe at least one family member, friend, or mentor of your character. (I will make them an NPC in the world. You may make or assist with the stat block if you like.)
There's a description of Nadyra in the profile as well, and a paragraph about Alyssa's father, who she does not know but who could also be an important NPC to her. As I said in the other thread, I can leave the details up to you, or I can develop him further as well if you prefer.
③ Why do you (the player) want to play Kingmaker PbP?
The idea of having the characters come together in establishing and running a kingdom is interesting. And after having started two games with Alyssa already, I really wanted to be able to play her out.
④ What is your comfort level with Google Sheets, managing a Loot sheet, and Kingdom Sheets?
I have been using Google Sheets to handle loot in some of the games I'm in.
➢ Any extra information on how you might progress your character is appreciated.
Don't have any specific build plans laid out already, besides trying to focus a bit on compulsion spells to make the most out of the Fey Bloodline Arcana, but I have yet to plan out my spell known progression to see what I can get and when.
With regards to creating a Discord channel for the game, I agree with Angus that it makes things a little easier, and we were all already using one for the previous game.
Lucky Bignoodle |
Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind me joining. (I was really attached to Lucky after building her for the initial recruitment, so when I saw the table was resetting with a new GM I asked Ventiine to consider adding Lucky if there was room. They kindly agreed.)
Lucky's a bard that doesn't get Inspire Courage. Her archetype instead grants allies abilities from the fey template. Standouts include energy resistance, spell resistance, 10ft per level teleportation, and invisibility. The downside is they last for only one round and can't be maintained like normal performances. The Lingering Performance feat does extend them, but I haven't been able to find a solid ruling on how that affects the invisibility/teleportation abilities. I don't think it would do anything since those aren't "bonuses," but I will ask for a GM ruling on that one.
Combat role: I see Lucky as a caster bard but originally planned to take some archery feats to help tide her over until she gets more spells per day. However I wouldn't get Precise Shot until level 3 which means the first two levels would be tricky. My other thought for these early levels is to grab a whip, the helpful trait, and focus on aiding people who actually do damage. Would people be okay with that or would it feel like she's not pulling her weight?
I like using Discord for games. My handle's EverAnon there too.
Rhiann Sokol |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Not everyone needs to be combat oriented directly, so as far as I'm concerned any impact on outcome, be it buffing, being backup healer (bards can use cure wands), using the whip to aid or ranged attacks, it's all still pulling your weight.
One thing to consider is with small size and a strength penalty, would taking the ranged attack approach be worth it compared to your other options?
Angus Elphinstone |
Ventiine, Thank you for being willing to run an AP, we players really appreciate it.
However, after a very busy weekend where I felt like I was not able to keep up with posting and everything else going on. I realized I probably have enough games on my plate. Due to that, I feel I need removing Angus from the reboot of Kingmaker.
Again, thank you for running the game, good luck and good gaming all.
Rhiann Sokol |
Sorry to see you go Angus, but I definitely understand.
GM Ventine, that puts us at 4 players. Good to go with that or do you want to recruit a 5th?
Lucky Bignoodle |
Sorry I won't get the chance to play with you Angus. I hope things calm down for you.
After thinking about it I am going to switch to the whip/aid build. Archery requires more feats than I'm willing to spend for something I don't see as her primary role.
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
@Angus, thanks for your sincerity! Happy gaming! :)
@Rhiann I would like to recruit two. We can start out with six and people will probably drop as time goes on.
@Lucky, I've never tried a whip bard. My bard went heavy into archery feats and paired with her inspiration she did really well. Play what you're passionate about and we can help you at the table if one or two things need to be tweaked or swapped out. For example, when rounding out the party, we assessed my bard should take the trait that gave her the Disable Device skill. It was a last-minute swap that helped us in a big way as a team.
I'm going to ask my Azlant table now.
DBH |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I'm in GM_Ventiine's Ruins of Azlant game.
Looking at the current party I see Fighter, Sorceress, Bard & Druid.
What do the current group feel would be the most helpful to them?
Druid covers survival & nature.
Sorceress & Bard mean Arcane & Knowledge skills are covered.
Fighter covers fighting. :)
If accepted I'm thinking Cleric or Shaman with Life spirit to be the main healer.
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
Here are my notes. I'll spoiler each person. These notes are just me sharing my understanding of your character and to check-in.
General Note: There will be traps, so once we get our other two people we will need to discuss who takes that skill. (Probably a support build. We'll see.)
ೃ⁀➷
Weak caster level 1-3, pickup at level 4 with wildshape and more spells.
Poodle (dog) synergy with tripping. (Rhiann is focusing on trip.)
I really like your character’s theme of being a noble who’s passionate about gardening. And the fact she has a poodle - the perfect dog for the nobility! I love nature/gardening backgrounds.
Two-weapon exotic proficiency, Trip bot (Plus druid poodle - dog - can also trip. Synergizes well)
Where did you get your other +1 to hit on your MW Cold Iron Fauchard? (+1 BAB, +1 Weapon Focus, +2 Str, +1 MW)
Could you explain why you have Dex 16 instead of more points in Str? Just curious - I typically don't play melee with the exception of paladins. I love playing paladins
Your character is going to carry everyone to victory in the low levels. I like your build!
I’ve played a gnome fey bloodline sorcerer up to level 13 so I’m familiar with this build. It’s what I would play if I was a player in Kingmaker. I love it!
I didn’t mention it, but your 20 Char is fine since it is a 20-point buy and you get the half-elf racial.
(You probably already know this but) You left the cohort on your sheet but could take it at level 7 with the regular feat progression. Kingmaker is definitely the AP for Leadership
Support. I like bards - I’ve played one to level 14.
Energy resistance and invisibility are helpful for rogue - if we get a rogue
Weaker build than sorcerer but comical. I like gnomes! I’ve played a gnome sorcerer and had a blast (pun intended)
Lucky Bignoodle |
Sorceress & Bard mean Arcane & Knowledge skills are covered.
FYI Lucky’s archetype trades out bardic knowledge. She’ll be putting skill points in various knowledges when she can but doesn’t have that extra boost.
If we don’t end up with a rogue I could probably spare some skill points for Disable Device. Although it’s crazy how tight they already feel. You’d think 9 would be excessive, but three performance skills and a couple knowledges and you can’t be a bard without diplomacy and perception/stealth/UMD are all really useful and oh shit where’d all the points go?
(I can’t play a cleric/sorcerer/any other non-Intelligence class with only two skill points per level. Just can’t do it. I love skills too much.)

Ancestral Weapon
You have inherited a sacred tribal weapon wielded by your forebears, and you were trained in its use from a young age.
Benefit(s) Select either cold iron or silver. You begin play with a masterwork melee weapon made of the material of your choice. You must be proficient with this weapon, and its combined cost cannot exceed 500 gp.
You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls with weapons made of the selected material.
TWF requires a minimum Dex of 15 and originally I was going to go with a double bladed sword, but changed the build. With the weapon trick I plan to take next level that lets me hit at close range with the haft (albeit losing the trait bonus to attack), I'll be able to strike at both 5ft and 10ft distance in the same round if needed, once I do pict up TWF. Also the higher Dex means more Attacks of Opportunity (with a 10ft radius)
The high Dex also compensates for a two handed weapon user losing out on the benefit of a shield, especially as frontliner
My subsequent boosts may go to Strength instead of Dexterity, we'll see how things unfold, but the build needs a high Dex to work. Also as a martial artist, staff fighting and all staff based weapons) really do rely more heavily on skill than power.
Rhiann Sokol |
@DBH a primary healer of some kind would be good, especially since our GM stipulated
"➢ CR will remain the same for 4-5 players. I will add +1 CR with 6 players."
Rhiann Sokol |
Either Warden, General, Royal Enforcer or Ruler (though the lack of a Charisma bonus would hurt us there.)
Rhiann Sokol |
I kind of love the idea of a Druid High priest, especially in what looks to be a very Fey aligned kingdom.
Lucky Bignoodle |
Either Warden, General, Royal Enforcer or Ruler (though the lack of a Charisma bonus would hurt us there.)
One house rule I've heard of and like is allowing the ruler to apply the stat of their choice (or alternatively "the mental stat of their choice") to kingdom attributes. That way the ruler can be whoever makes the most sense from a roleplay perspective.
Alyssa Feuilindë |

The "mental stat of their choice" was what we were going for in Alyssa's first game. Although she has a high charisma, I wasn't intending to go for Ruler (she comes from a remote village and has little knowledge of politics). I was thinking of going with Grand Diplomat too, but Lucky is perfect for the role, so I'll probably go for Magister instead.
I can go for Ruler if the group thinks she would be our best choice, but it's not something I'm aiming for, if Rhiann or anyone else wants the role instead. I can't see Alyssa putting herself forward on her own, though, so if that's what the group wants, it would take some IC work to convince her and probably help her with the finer points of politics (which is a good thing, mind, just mentioning it so we can work on it from the start).

Hey yall! Ventiine, I really appreciate you rescuing folks from the abandoned game.
I've been quiet for a while because I was out of town and off my phone at a meditation retreat. I'm back now but wanted to just let you know at this point I've started another game since Joseph's died, and my plate is full.
I hope (and strongly suspect) this'll be a great one; sorry to miss yall!
Rhiann Sokol |
Statwise, Alyssa would be great for Ruler, And honestly your background kind of leans into it, with the whole talent for getting people to listen to her. I agree with seeing how things unfold and gameplay, but unless you could definitely a be a good choice for ruler especially when we're dealing with the fey.

Ok, I see 3 things that are significant holes in the party's capabilities
1) Sneak (scouting, traps ands such)
2) Ranged combat (no one likes to fight at range)
3) Knowledges (no one has Arcana, planes, religion, local ...)
However, I have ideas that only fill 2 of 3 (without stepping on other toes)
A) A slayer build, filing 1 and 2, Leadership roles (Marshall, enforcer or spymaster)
B) An investigator build would fill 1 and 3, Leadership roles (Spymaster, Treasurer or Magister)
What does everyone think? A, B, or do you have another suggestion?
DBH |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I ran a Slayer through Giantslayer and she was absolute murder at ranged combat.
Took the Rogue trapfinding at 2nd to cover traps, and after that the Ranger combat feats. If she saw you at range you were going to hurt.
Another good option for 1 & 2 would be a Ranger with the Trapper archetype.
The Knowledges are going to need to be filled though, I'm currently building a life Oracle who has History, Nature, Planes & Religion. No Arcana though.
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
@Lucky, when we get closer to Kingdom management I'll be happy to discuss specific player preferences like that. For now, I want to keep things simple and straightforward. I'm going to do all of the bookkeeping with the exception of your own characters' claimed loot (which you all will be responsible for.) Unless there are complaints, I will do the gold split of sold loot. I have the calculation sheet setup.
@gyrfalcon, thanks for checking in and letting us know! Happy gaming!
@DBH and everyone, so the way I understood it is that anyone can technically be the Ruler because the party is free to swap around Kingdom roles on the Kingdom sheet. (Since they are basically just dice rolls.) I guess in RP it would matter, but you (generally) will be respected by the citizens you govern regardless of the role you fill for Kingdom checks. And checks to increase NPC attitude may not always fall under Charisma. Some NPCs might have more default respect for Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom or Intellect instead of Charisma.
@pad300, I appreciate you taking the time to analyze the party's strengths and weaknesses. You should play what is the most interesting and engaging to you so you have fun. Everyone gets 1 Hero Point and I won't try to make things overly difficult. I am going to run combat encounters close to rules as written (with +1 CR to a party of 6. It will look like 1. an advanced template on a single boss mob or 2. adding experience points to the encounter to adjust CR to +1.)
Hopefully, with the 20-point build, a Wand of Cure Light Wounds with 50 charges, 1 Hero Point each, and a bonus 500 gold to those who complete a test Kingdom Build, everyone will feel like they have an "edge" when playing this game and no one will feel guilty about putting a couple of extra points in Intellect for an extra skill point, playing a non-meta archetype, or spending gold on something frivolous your character would like. Etc.
Rhiann Sokol |
I think between having a bard and a sorceress, Arcana and a few other skills will be well covered within a couple of levels.
@GM Ventine: If we want to give the Kingdom sheet a test shot, do we assign characters in whatever roles we want since it's just a test run?
Rhiann Sokol |
@ pad300. Definitely go with what you'll enjoy playing. If you do want input, the Slayer that fulfills 1 and 2 would be big, and I can definitely see an easy fit for Marshal.
DBH |
After some waffling I've come to a solution that works for me, and helps the party.
When making a Cleric I generally pick a Deity with that gives the healing domain , looking through them I noticed Pharasma also gives the knowledge domain. Which means all Knowledge skills are class skills.
Immediately the image of a slightly creepy, academic Cleric came to me and I started building him or her.
While I tend to let the character develop as they play and get levels, sometimes you get an image of the character and they start almost fully fleshed out.
Rhiann Sokol |
NICE!! I see what you mean. The bone white armor, the calm placid expression, definitely grasp the noble/creepy vibe that comes with Pharasma.

Channel Positive Energy (Su) You can unleash a wave of positive energy. You must choose to deal 1d6 points of positive energy damage to undead creatures or to heal living creatures of 1d6 points of damage. Creatures that take damage from channeled energy receive a DC 12 Will save to halve the damage. You can use this ability 5 times per day.
Lore Keeper (Sp) You can touch a creature to learn about its abilities and weaknesses. With a successful touch attack, you gain information as if you made the appropriate Knowledge skill check with a result equal to 19.
Orisons You can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells. These spells are cast like any other spells, but they are not expended when used and may be used again.
Rebuke Death (Sp) You can touch a living creature as a standard action, healing it of 1d4 points of damage. You can only use this ability on a creature that is below 0 hit points. You can use this ability 6 times per day.
Rostlander You were raised in the south of Brevoy, a land of dense forests and rolling plains, of crystalline rivers and endless sapphire skies. You come from hearty stock and were raised with simple sensibilities of hard work winning well deserved gains, the importance of charity and compassion, and the value of personal and familial honor. Yours is the country of the Aldori swordlords and the heroes who refused to bend before the armies of a violent conqueror. You care little for matters of politics and nobles or of deception and schemes. As you are thoroughly Brevic, the call for champions willing to expand your land's influence into the Stolen Lands has inflamed your sense of patriotism and honor, and so you have joined an expedition to quest southward.
Seeker You are always on the lookout for reward and danger. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and Perception is always a class skill for you.
.
Spontaneous Casting You can channel stored spell energy into healing spells that you did not prepare ahead of time. You can "lose" any prepared spell that is not an orison or domain spell in order to cast any cure spell of the same spell level or lower (a cure spell is any spell with "Cure" in its name).
Adela Anastasia.
23. 5.8. A slender, attractive young woman from Restov. Her thick brunette hair in a long braid down her back. She greets the world with an expression of calm interest on her face.
Born and raised in Restov to a moderately-well off family Adela was noted as a quiet, well-behaved child. Her childhood was comfortable, only the death of her grandmother marred it.
Adela showed great interest in the funeral and spent much time afterwards discussing what would happen to her Grandmother’s soul with the Priest of Pharasma who conducted the service.
This began her interest in serving Pharasma and she studied hard at the temple. Despite becoming an attractive, young woman her calm acceptance of death gave her a slightly disturbing air to those who tried courting her.
“It was their time.” While true doesn’t comfort family members hoping for a touch more sympathy.
With the call for adventurers to reclaim the Stolen lands Adela believes that she is needed. Both to heal, and to deal with the damned undead that must be there in a land that has no Church of Pharasma.
Adela has one sibling, an older brother named Jakub who joined the Aldori swordlords and did well. Now serving in the Restov guard. They get on well and are fond of one another despite being such different people. Jakub being a typical proud and fiery Swordlord, very conscious of his honour and determined to prove himself.
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
@GM Ventiine: If we want to give the Kingdom sheet a test shot, do we assign characters in whatever roles we want since it's just a test run?
@Rhiann, yes. And you can just plug in numbers for the fictional Players. The purpose of the exercise is just to introduce players to the Kingmaker management system so you'll know what's going on. When we get to that point I'm going to try to present it in as clear and concise way as I can.
@Adela, (DBH) welcome to the table! I will look over your character tonight or tomorrow.
Lucky Bignoodle |
I’ve spent Lucky’s extra 500gp on sleeves of many garments, upgrading her hurdy-gurdy to masterwork, and getting a combat-trained pony plus equipment. (The pony will most likely never see actual combat use given its stats, but I wanted it trained so it wouldn’t flee in terror the second a fight broke out.)
There’s one final tweak I wanted to ask the GM about. Currently Lucky has a skill point in Linguistics so she can know First Speech, (the language of the first world). Could I take First Speech as her extra language for intelligence instead and move that skill point into either Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft?
The first wrinkle is that First Speech is not among the options gnomes get for high intelligence. The second depends on whether you count Perform as a background skill for bards. If you don’t (which I’d totally understand given versatile performance), then she could only switch from Linguistics to a different background skill. (Which she might if you rule that way, Knowledge (Nobility) is a good candidate with her background.)
GM Kingmaker Ventiine |
@Adela, your character looks good. Your brother will definitely be an NPC.
@Lucky, sure, you can take First Speech as a Linguistic language. Especially since you're a First World Minstrel.
@Lucky, I think a bard having Perform as a Background skill is reasonable. And if anyone else has a realistically-related skill they would like to argue as a background skill, I'm open to hearing it.
Adela Anastasia |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Adela's background skills are Cooking, which she learned at home to help her mother. And Painting, she would sketch the dead as they lay in rest so their families would have a last reminder.
Oddly some people found this unsettling?

NPCS: I'm leaving the additional two NPCs on the Kingdom Sheet (link), but they will be deleted once we get to the first combat (the 500 bonus gold deadline). The "Leadership & NPCs" tab is where you can find a list of NPCs you have encountered.
Game Weather: The in-game weather of the months reflects the weather patterns of Virginia (US) because it's what I'm familiar with.
Loot: The Loot Sheet (link) has been updated.
Combat Maps: Please adjust the marching order as you like. I will add Oleg and Svetlana's icons once we get our 6th settled.

Please let me know if you need more time here in Discussion or a private message. There is a slide on the Combat Maps (link) with a checklist of who has completed the work for the bonus gold, etc.
We are still waiting on Pad300 or I will try recruiting another.
