Alright, kind of an odd place in the flow here. Feels like you guys are hashing out what to do next, so I'm not sure if I should be assuming you're moving forward and start making posts with that assumption in mind.

Do you have questions for me in or out of character that I'm not picking up on?

Regarding language: When it comes to communicating with sentient beings capable of actual speech in a language your characters would have a reasonable expectation of awareness, write up a quick spoiler on why your character should know the information and/or recognize the language (whether your PC actual comprehends it is different; for example when I hear Spanish or Italian, I know what they are without understanding them), and I will say yay or nay depending on how likely I feel your explanation fits the situation or how niche the language may be.

Honestly, the Knowledge check system leaves a lot to be desired in some instances as it seemingly allocates what could amount to basic information which should be available via several possible disciplines to a single niche skill allotment. So unless all of you want to roleplay that you've never heard of mites ever in your lives, the fact that they are Fey and are a subterranean race shouldn't be completely obscure to you. If you would rather treat this as totally foreign (again they are a subterranean race so may be a very rarely encountered group) we can keep the Knowledge checks to those related to Fey and the information available scholarly only.

I'm pretty sure we're going in and when we encounter them, try to communicate or reason with them first. If it works we go from there. If they respond with violence, well then we respond to the threat level presented.

As far as knowing their language, there's 34 languages in PF1:

They could probably be split into 4 categories of how likely an adventurer (as opposed to everyday common folk) has encountered them at least enough to recognize them.

I'd reckon in most cases, languages stemming from underground communities, or secret languages like that of other undead would be the least likely (either being assigned a higher DC or a way better explanation to know.)

Aside from knowledge skills connected to the race ore people using the language, I can easily see linguistics being used as well (there's lots of cases for scholars knowing smatterings of languages they don't speak because it's their thing)

Maybe if someone has a decent explanation for why they might know a language, assign them a +2 to the linguistics roll to identify it.

Given their backgrounds, Alyssa would know Sylvan if she heard it, even if she wasn't able to speak it, Adela being able to recognize Celestial, and even Necril 9though it would make her skin crawl), would make sense

I believe I've spoken of Clerics and how few skill points they get. So Knowledge skills are not going to be a priority for Adela except for Knowledge Religion of course.

But yes, hearing a language and recognizing what it is without being able to speak it is reasonable. Her training would have had something like this is what Necril sounds like. Be wary!

Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.
Elven Immunities: Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells and effects.
Keen Senses: Half-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Blended View: Prerequisite: low-light vision. Half-drow whose non-drow parent had low-light vision might be blessed with a legacy of versatile senses. Characters with this trait keep their low-light vision but also gain darkvision to a distance of 60 feet. Half-elves can take this trait in place of multitalented.
Languages: Half-elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Half-elves with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

Class Abilities:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A slayer is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).

Studied Target (Ex): A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. The slayer then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 1. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target.
If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).
At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, the bonuses on weapon attack, damage rolls, and skill checks and to slayer DCs against a studied target increase by 1. In addition, at each such interval, the slayer is able to maintain these bonuses against an additional studied target at the same time. The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place.
At 7th level, a slayer can study an opponent as a move or swift action.

Accuracy (Ex): At 1st level, a sniper halves all range increment penalties when making ranged attacks with a bow, crossbow, or firearm. This ability replaces track.

Sneak Attack: If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.
The rogue’s attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every 2 rogue levels thereafter. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. This additional damage is precision damage and is not multiplied on a critical hit.
With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (such as a sap, unarmed strike, or whip), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack—not even with the usual –4 penalty.
The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with total concealment.

Trapfinding: A rogue adds 1/2 her level on Perception checks to locate traps and on Disable Device checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

Skilled Liar (Ex): Whenever a guerrilla uses Bluff to attempt to deceive someone, she gains a bonus on the opposed roll equal to 1/2 her rogue level (minimum +1). A guerrilla can still use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.
This ability replaces trapfinding.

Finesse Training (Ex): At 1st level, a rogue gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat. In addition, starting at 3rd level, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse (such as rapiers or daggers). Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to the damage roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her Strength modifier to the damage roll, she does not add her Dexterity modifier. The rogue can select a second weapon at 11th level and a third at 19th level.

Alright, I think I've got the map scaled to my preference. You will see some gray lines on the map image. Please ignore and reference the red gridline squares which your tokens should snap to automatically when you're moving around.

I don't know what the original designer was thinking. The original scale of the provided map is tiny. The first room is barely big enough to fit the four of you let alone anything else happens there.

Please feel free to continue engaging with the current scene as you wish or whatever other actions/investigations/exploration you'd like to do. The northern Greenbelt is your oyster.

Edit: Once we're there story wise. I won't reveal the map until we are in the Sycamore dungeon area.

I don't think you have to have Knowledge (nature) to have suspicions unless you feel Adela would otherwise have no incidental or circumstantial knowledge that things covered by Knowledge (nature) exist at all.

Your characters live in a fantasy world. Unless you're playing someone innocent and naive of only the people/creatures/experiences they have personally encountered and no others, I fully anticipate you can say whatever you want about the fantasy world and its environment.

Also, consider that Knowledge (nature) is only the factual information. Perhaps Adela has Knowledge (hearsay/rumor/completely fabricated) and has no problem speaking her mind about such things. Characters who have flaws such as believing wholly fictional things about their own world should exist in Golarion just as much as they do in the real world in which we exist.

Lol, I don't really have a problem with that honestly. I could give you my opinions of wealth-by-level, spells/ability uses per day, and magic item slot restrictions, but I'm sure it would cause a ruckus. :P

Yeah, I have low-light vision, so can see as much as Alyssa, Erik has full darkvision (not a completely conventional party race-wise)

Re: Darkvision.

I guess that makes sense...as long as there are no mechanical penalties imposed by that interpretation that differs form the standard take on Darkvision (otherwise it limits the benefit of a player choice), and the creatures with native darkvision are limited in the same way, in regard to what they can perceive.

The book's wording leads me to believe yes, which does make sense when you imagine someone using a bow in the traditional style (vertical) or a sling while horizontal-shooting (non-traditional bow & crossbow) would seem less likely to be impeded.

We'll add this to the situational rule: "A player can drop to one knee and raise from one knee as a swift action to avoid the penalty to Ranged attacks. Magical ranged attacks are unaffected by the penalty."

Thus anyone making ranged attacks that aren't magical only has to give up their Swift action to avoid the penalty.

I'm terribly sorry about the delay. Work has been kicking my ass. Apparently it got the memo I actually wanted to get posts up and decided to crush my dreams.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel as long as you guys want to keep going, but I think I'm going to reevaluate what I had planned to do with this game. I have always wanted to run a Kingmaker which incorporated character stories and new ideas into the spaces left by the basic hexploration blurbs, but trying to navigate between the bits I'm wanting to incorporate and the making sure I'm balancing the story between them successfully makes my posting require so much more planning than I feel I'm currently able to contribute time.

I think I'm going to have to abandon some of that and just run the AP as written for the most part and only make adjustments as your characters create them. This should enable me to post more frequently...which of course will also be limited to how often you guys post. I know it's my fault we're running slowly right now, and I've set the cadence for this but I'm working to change that. Just be aware that going forward, I hope to be more reliable allowing you to post more often as well.

Is everyone's Gameplay byline up to date after the level up?

I used that to re-confirm everyone's Initiative and Perception, and I want to make sure nothing's changed.
