As far as I’m reading, we haven’t decided yet. Sarn has offered two potential options as the last post.
Stay or press on. Now the spell is clarified, either is ok, but Sarn is worried that pushing on into “home-turf” could be bad got us/aid the enemy.
Given Terion’s uncharacteristic absence we are both stuck for direction as he is, after Nilelane’s scouting, generally the point-man and is really the only fighter.

Terion did post on Feb 6th in another thread that he had a busy week at work ahead of him. Maybe he hasn’t caught up yet.
I’d prefer to wait a bit before replacing him but will support what ever decision is made.

Yep, happy to wait. However I’ve been wanting to add a player since Elbowtotheface didn’t really engage with the game…I know the four person party of Fighter, Magic User, Thief and Cleric is pretty…classic apparently, it doesn’t leave much room for facing greater numbers of enemies…at least until higher levels. Never been a fan of the concept myself…

I’ve been posting, but I admit, after we lost Eddrikk immediately and then Terion who was the most active in terms of pushing us along as ersatz party leader, I’m a bit out of sorts.

Nor I. Until Nilelane, ever the pragmatist, mentioned it. And given that we are a very small party (Eddrikk and Terion notwithstanding as GMNPCs) we kinda need to be…pragmatic.

@Helaman, any chance we can get a map so as to see how Sarn (or anyone else who decides to attack first…it’s an ambush really) might begin? How many gobbos are there? Are we in a tent or outside by the fire where we first “chatted” with them?
@Daniel/Vik - you might want to read the booklets homebrewed by Helaman with regard to options in combat - there are options for called shots and particular tricks that come with their own mechanics. Mostly its about making the opponent an offer to take damage or suffer a consequence inimical to their future survival…I’ll see if I can locate it…

Sadly I think that I too am at an end here. Increased work assessments, outside study assignments, health issues and just the wear and tear of the current tempo has all but finished me.
I want to thank everyone for their time and effort, particulary our latest addition who went to some trouble to make their character only to have the game fall through. For everyone who gave feed back and ideas on rules, gameplay etc I also give thanks.
In the next few weeks I'll be looking at slowing down my non GM games just to see where I am at.

I felt this was coming. This is the last game I was in too… Oh well, thanks Heaman for all the work that went in to your homebrewing booklets. I’m sorry if my inability at the outset to use Roll20 slowed things/created inertia. Was fun while it lasted, Sarn was a fun character to play. Thanks also to Smiles-a-lot, Albion, Mishima and Daniel (and Elbowtotheface) for playing.
If I may, I might post a little piece here about my thoughts about the health of a PbP. I’ve noticed that we generally desperately under-utilise the Discussion tab, and although this is most likely a function of mostly being time poor (either because of the necessities of RL or having too many games running or running in in addition to those real life necessities) a game really needs the characters to be interacting alongside the main narrative. Characters should be conversing, quibbling, questioning, helping, advising, ignoring, harassing, teasing, assisting etc each other, and this can be done as if it were its own space that might not need to exist in the same timeline. Without this we are playing insular characters that react only to gameplay posts that are by and large functional rather than narrative or social. I know we hardly have time to post most days, but maybe we need to give our games a bit more, as counterintuitive as it seems.
I dunno, just been thinking a lot about the nature of the medium, although I also wonder about the ubiquity of ChatGPT and just how happy I am that everything I post here is grist for some AI wordmill. Then again the last time I said that to someone (in a PM) they never posted on the boards again…

Yep, and appreciated. I…didn’t really post as much as I wanted to, just finding the time to keep up is often the hardest.
