Not sure if a perception roll is needed, but do the prints go in both directions... to and from the place? Or just... to?
Yes, the go in both directions, though they seem to mill about outside a bit, which fits her story.

@Rando is necromancy intrinsically evil in this world? and would our characters necessarily know that?
I can see Elias thinking it is pretty cool to have an animated skeleton companion/friend around.
Depends greatly on how it's used. I believe Create Undead is technically an evil spell by its nature. That said, doing an evil act doesn't make one inherently evil by alignment, but it is definitely something that would raise a Paladin's hackles.
rando1000 |
Yoltzin's people certainly have a more optimistic view on necromancy, and for them it's very much a "How you use it" sorta deal. So far, she hasn't seen anything directly amiss here.
It's fine for individuals and societies to have different views on what summoning something through evil means with good intention means, and I've left you all largely in control of defining your own races. So I have no problem with Yoltzin framing it that way. But note Create Undead does have an [evil] descriptor beside it. Casting it will detect as evil, and some deities will consider casting it a breach of alignment that requires atonement (thus creating an Ex-Cleric).

Internet's down at my house again. posts will be sporadic until it comes back up or tomorrow morning. Uret, if you didn't see my PM, this unfortunately means Urban Defenders is cancelled. Sorry for short (no) notice. Ran out to find wifi as soon as I could.

Am I right in saying that Elias cannot in fact see what is going on in the house now that Raymundo has moved into the main part of the cottage?
Not well. Give me a perception check to see "through" the shelves with the potions on them. DC is relatively high and you're only going to get rough positions.

I'm going with... Djack doesn't know Raymundo was provoked by Elias. Also, generally Djack is a wide-eyed kid. He's waiting or willing to give up initiative, if not his turn? Is that readied action?
I mean speech is a free action, so if she doesn't answer him I guess that's a sign?

Speech is normally a free action, but I specifically wanted this initiative to see if she could react in time to stop Raymundo. She can't. So he's gonna march on out of there.

It's oddly frustrating yet also satisfying to see our characters be so confused about the intentions of a person we as players knows is a bad guy.
...Hm, or st least heavily suspects.
Yeah, I've been trying to have more encounters that can be resolved without combat, so it's less formulaic, but I couldn't resist putting an evil witch in a swamp.

not to be nit-pciky, but technically Rocko wasn't combat ready until now and is just now able to count for a flank bonus. Not sure if that modifies any attacks or damage rolls.
I'd think you would still have 5' reach and threaten with an unarmed attack. Non-lethal, but still an attack. I mean, it could incapacitate an opponent.
Even a combat maneuver?

Technically non-lethal attacks only threaten if you have Improved Unarmed Strike. I left it the way it was anyway. Rule of cool.

Thanks for cool and for correcting me.
I'm gonna remember that for the game I may never put out. And go there other way (from the perspective of the person flanked.
They don't know what you can do to them.
EDIT: I think Pathfinder 2E dropped the threatening verbiage. Just melee weapon or unarmed attack. Go Rogues!

The elf scowled as the skeleton managed to escape from its hold long enough and strike her.[/ooc]
Near as I can tell from Boneshaker, Yoltzin doesn't retain any control of the creature after the initial act.
Duration is Instantaneous, relevant text is below. I couldn't find anything about remaining in control of the creature with a quick google.
An undead creature takes no damage. Instead, you manipulate the undead, forcing it to take an immediate action to either move up to its speed or make a single attack against a creature of your choice in its reach. Either of these is the most basic version of the action the creature can take (it doesn’t activate any special abilities that it could apply to the movement or attack, such as grab). A successful saving throw negates this effect. A mindless undead creature doesn’t receive a save against this effect.

So yes, that is a table. A shelf filled with liquids, which I've placed Djack on due to his outstanding acrobatics roll, is on the other side of the witch, perpendicular to the table.
So if the wolf is right next to Djack, Quince could come around the other side of Rocko and be flanking with it.
rando1000 |
The problem with that is that Raymundo just 5' stepped forward into the house to attack Spizz. So he's now standing in one square in front of the door, and Yoltzin is in front of the second.
Yoltzin could do it as a move action. Or she could step back and allow Quince in (AOO from Raymundo) to do it.

Team work (DM & party) makes the dream work... sometimes the dice stymie us.
It was an awesome scene! But remember you are the architect!
And Djack couldn't have made his decision of he couldn't count on everyone else!
rando1000 |
Yoltzin might get the kill, +4 for melee attacking a prone enemy.
Close, but still short by 1. If I let 19 hit earlier, my bad. In any case, yes, Yoltzin gets the "credit" anyway (such as it were) because her summon.
All in all everyone did valuable stuff this combat. Lots of tripping, position changing, non-standard actions, etc. Fun stuff.
Djack Nymball |
Of course, a summoning kill is yours!
I was just getting into the girl power thing... a multi-faceted "don't F with this lady!"
Who am I calling a lady?
@Rando - I wasn't keeping track of who/what number hit... just thought a 19 might. That freakin' witch was hard to hit!
rando1000 |
You heard Rando- Qe need to burn everything! It's cursed, all of it, we need to burn the house and all the ~~~~magical~~~~ equipment in order to protect ourselves. Quick everyone, put I to the bitter cold of a swamp storm.
lol well while you're plotting the destruction of all that awesome loot, you may want to throw some of your or the wand's healing power at Quince, who's sitting at -3 but stable.
Then I guess the group might want to make plans whether or not to continue on (either after or during the storm) or stay there until morning.
rando1000 |
I believe that was Rocko's vote as well, but I'll wait a while for Kevin or another player to confirm.
re: magic items, do any of you have items you'd specifically like to have, in the 4000 gp or less range? I can plant some of those either directly or in slightly modified form. Just trying to keep it interesting instead of lobbing +1 swords and cloaks of resistance around.
Djack Nymball |
I could go for the little things...
Scabbard of Vigor
Belt of Tumbling
Mithral Chain Shirt
Darkleaf Lamellar
Something Stealth... not sure how often we'll be separated.
I wouldn't mind some kind of APB for Armor, maybe weapons.
I can add to the list, but would need to see how others want to progress so that Djack wouldn't duplicate stuff.
