What happens?
Strek Armstrom |
Wow! I've been doing PbP for a long time now, and I've never seen that before!
GM Ewok |
Yeah... technically, per RAW, Strek wouldn't have cover as the attack coming from the closest of the robot's corners doesn't go through the wall on the way to Strek's corners. Just along them. HOWEVER... I'm going to rule against RAW on this one and say you have cover in that second square for two reasons:
1. I really think it is RAI to give you cover there. The examples in the rulebook for this scenario only cover ranged weapons - saying that you can poke your gun around the wall. Additionally, elsewhere in the rulebook it says you can't walk through a hard corner. I'd say this means you can't swing your weapon adequately either. So, cover is given.
2. I hate that Full Withdrawal only gives you immunity from one square at a cellular level. So in case I'm wrong about number one, I don't feel bad about it.

Thanks!
On a different note, I have discovered a problem while working on my level up.
My original plan was to take the Powered Armor Jockey Archetype at 6th level, since this AP encouraged using Powered Armor, and I figured I would take Powered Armor Proficiency at 5th level to qualify for the Archetype (since its first replacement feature is at 6th level).
But as a Mechanic, I don't meet the BAB prerequisite for the feat, which means I wouldn't then qualify for the Archetype in time.
So I have a question.
Since I was planning this build for this AP, do the future books use, require, or offer a substantial amount of Powered Armor options to want to continue with this idea, and if they do, would you be fine waiving the BAB prerequisite for the Powered Armor Proficiency Feat?
Or, if there's just passing reference to Powered Armor going forward, should I plan my build in a different direction? Which would probably be to continue focusing on Ranged Striking and Engineering boosts.

Well... the player's guide was definitely quite optimistic about the benefits of Power Armor in this AP. The AP does have significantly fewer 5 foot wide corridors than others, which is helpful to our Large and Powered friends. There is a seriously good set of Power Armor to loot about halfway through the next book. And you get minor bonuses to loading cargo when using Power Armor. But there isn't any requirement or much inducement to use Power Armor in the next book.
That being said... you should play what sounds fun. If Power Armor sounds fun, I think this AP is probably a better place for it than most other places. I'm happy to waive the BAB prereq.

Okie dokie! I will proceed as planned. Especially since I don't see a Powered Armor SFS character in my future any time soon.
Thanks!

If something is going to blow up in your face you want to be conscious for it, you need to go to - all your HP instead of negative half your HP to die. Not to mention a vastly improved ability to DUCK
I think you can just move to south of Akhs westernmost half if you want to disarm it.. if he drops this round.

Merry Christmas ^_^

We made it! That was a wild final dungeon. This book was a bit different than most AP's, we'll get a bit closer to the normal flow of things in the next one then will head back towards Space Trucker fun. Everybody can make purchases and level up. Then we'll kick off book three in a few days.

Decluttering the Loot Slide. Removed:
frostbite-class zero rifle, D-Suit, I → Strek
3 High capacity battery → Strek
Serum of enhancement (scientist), tier 2 sedatives x6 → Melissa
ghost killer fusion seal (5th) → Guess?
swagger handcannon → Guess?
Tactical Rocket Bracer → Guess?
D-Suit, I → Guess?
manual sight → Guess?
aurora storm doshko, 4 stickybomb grenade IIs → Jaraduk
web grenade I (Jaraduk?)
Do you want the Advanced Doshko? It's 2d12 damage..
ring of resistance mk 1 → Akh
basic knight’s shield → Akh
field tactical shield (Akh?)
tactical doshakari (Akh?)
cylindrical lens pistol (Akh?)
three transparent mk 1 elemental gems → Del
Do you want the Salamander-Class Infernian? It's a 2d4 pistol, and if you also take the Amplified Diatha Ammunition, your shots can affect swarms, and you deal another +2d4 damage on Crits.
I propose we just add the 1600 UBPs to the Last Chance for general purpose. Unless we want to convert them directly to credits and split them?
And I think we're going to sell:
enforcer armor I (310 credits)
field irising shield (435 credits)
plasma doshko, red star (465 credits)
x8 batteries (48 credits total)
x4 squad defiance series (488 credits total)
x4 vapor cavitation pistol (572 credits total)
x3 basic knight’s shield (450 credits total)
Which would add another 2768 credits (461 each)
Akh Xi |
I did a deeper dive into the items and will instead be taking:
ring of resistance mk 1 → Akh
field tactical shield -> Akh
cylindrical lens pistol -> Akh
The field tactical shield is the less action intensive of the two shields. I was going to take the infernian, but the lens pistol is longer range and basically the same damage at the cost of being unwieldy. I think I'll just stick to that option.
The amplified diatha ammunition is explicitly longarm rounds, so it has to be a longarm wielder who grabs it.

Level up info:
Vanguard 5
Ability Score bumps: DEX, CON, INT, WIS
Feat: Grab Attention (This lets me intimidate whenever I melee attack. On a success, the target is off-target against anyone other than me, until the beginning of my next turn. Only once/creature/day though. DC is the typical 15+1.5*CR for other skill checks, so I won't be landing it too often)
Skill Bumps: Picking up Mysticism with the extra INT score.
Racial Feature: My fly speed now works like a true fly speed and I don't have to land any more.
Class Feature: Entropic Attunement adds the *force* property to my entropic strikes, so all those ghosts out there best beware.
Buying some thruster heels to be able to fly really fast.
I wish there was a dragon gland augmentation that sat between the level 2 wyrmling version and the level 10 standard version. The gap is really big.
Jaraduk Cometrunner |
Do you want the Advanced Doshko? It's 2d12 damage..
Sure, why not. At first I took just one doshko in case someone else maybe wanted one. If it's hanging around, Jaraduk will add it to the 'ol lineup. Maybe he'll name them both.
GM Ewok |
Thank you for looking at the loot pile! We'll want to completely clear that out before the next book starts.
The rebuild will be after the first few encounters in the next book, so don't worry about it too much at the moment.
I am very afraid and excited for some of these level up features...

Fun fact - Melissa is way stronger than Akh, despite being a tiny fraction of his size. I think she should carry him from now on. :)
Melissa_Norveg |
chuckle. She started at 9 so now its an 11.. a mere point over the mech dragon. Next level she gets a thing where her strength counts as 2 higher for using things like heavy weapons or powered armor (which I'm framing as years of using dwarf sized mining lasers and 2 weeks of using human sized weapons)
Now picturing Melissa dragging Akh along like a kid with a very long blanket.
Melissa_Norveg |
Which would add another 2768 credits (461 each)
Damn. That is not enough credits to pay attention at this level. We have got to let Gumby win the next moral dilemma.
Strek Armstrom |
Speaking of, I left the Loot Slide the way it is because I still don't know exactly how the credit count up top is working.
Have we already collected all of the credits for this book? Or are some waiting to be distributed?
I see the 5000cr vouchers and I'm not sure if we already divvied them up.
GM Ewok |
Yeah... unfortunately your Good ways cost you some credits in that transaction. I just posted your rewards from the Veskarium, so I don't forget, and put them on Slide 3 as well. So you now have everything distributed that you'll get to make purchases for a little bit.
For the next book I'm going to do better accounting on Slide 4 for credits, so it's easier to remember. I'm going to start easing us into the next book, which is going to kick into gear faster than most.
Guess? |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
GM Ewok: In the loot slide, for the credits, I see +1500 and +46.
Strek: Regarding the credit count up top, the moment it is listed up there, it is okay to credit the amount to our characters because at that point, the funds are considered divvy'd up amongst our characters. The last couple items came from as follows:
GM Ewok: I've got a question regarding buying gear that you might have answered before but I don't remember. We're using SFS rules for buying and selling available gear, which indicates that if buying equipment from the Core rulebook, then we can buy items 1 level higher than our character. However, when buying gear from other rulebooks, then we can buy ony gear that is equal in level with our characters. Does this rule apply to our campaign? I ask because I'm looking at a variety of level 6 gear for Guess? but I'm not sure if I can pick them up now or will have to wait. I'm looking at quyu eyes and adaptive fingerprints.
Strek Armstrom |
Thank you for asking that. Same situation for Strek. The next iteration of his Microwave gun is also Level 6, but it's from the Starfinder Armory.
Melissa_Norveg |
Melissa will have to return some other ysoki's genetic signature unless she REALLY wants to raise some red flags with Firehearts department. Hopefully....she'll remember to use the same one next time.

Got it, thanks! Guess? will pick up adaptive fingerprints. So much the better to hide his identity as well as assume others...
Guess? then quickly begins developing a schtick whereby he offers to tell the fortune of everyone he meets by reading their palms.

I don't think its so much free as if its safe and legal you call Abacorp prime or EJ or the Universal Postal Service that has insurance and don't risk some random yahoos that might fly off into the black with 100,000 credits worth of skittermander macrame. We can't compete with that kind of volume so we're in a niche market.
A dangerous niche market full of scum, villainy, and exploding defrexes.
Del Reisora |
Sorry for dropping offline unexpectedly again. Back and posting.
Yes, Del will take the infernian pistol since it's unclaimed. Thanks.
As for her level up...
Witchwarper 5
Ability Score bumps: STR, DEX, INT, CHA
Feat: Spell Penetration
Class Feature: Paradigm Shift (eldritch secret [1st-level mystic cure added to spells known])
Spells: +1 1st level spell per day, +1 2nd level spell known (caustic conversion)
She'll spend her money on...
freebooter armor II
spell gem of jolting surge
10 extra flares fir the gun

Melissa "Rolled" an engineering check she can't fail to see the engineering spoiler and patched it through to the crew.
edit: DOH. I got the public message and the spoiler stuff mixed up. The spoiler is just that theyre Gidderon ships.
Then rolled A science officer action to Scan. Rolled well and I explained the 19 as this not being the first time Melissa has had to by pass their computer defenses....
Melissa_Norveg |
Melissa is saying that, for once in our lives, WE have THEM severely out gunned. Blowing them out of the sky would be a great idea.
It would be easy. (and probably fairly fast). To the point that Melissa is SLIGHTLY worried about killing them on accident.
It would be a great PR move with Miraxah, who we might want to work for/around. We're in New York harbor and the red coats have shown up shooting at us. We're not going to get in TROUBLE shooting back you can probably talk Miraxah into giving you a medal. We don't need to fake a legal excuse to fight, the truth is on our side and better than any fiction we could hope for. (Melissa will forgive Guess for this being a new concept...:) )
It would be the moral thing to do. They're currently engaged in an expansionist war and enslaving innocent people. Any resources we knock out of the sky contributes against that effort. (she's aware this argument is lost on guess but there are other crew members :) )
*******
As a second (and vastly under rated starship combat option) We are also FASTER than they are. We can just run away. That will get the Hobgoblins less angry at us than shooting down their ships, and Miraxah has zero reason to complain about a cargo ship running away from the people shooting at them.
*********
Letting them on board is a lose lose proposition.
-The only way we could win is if Guess? Talks them into letting us leave with the artifacts. She's pointing out why this is VERY unlikely, even for Guess?'s silver tongue.
-If they win the fight they at least take the stuff.
-Even IF we win the fight, Miraxan authorites show up. They will likely seize our cargo as evidence and a bargaining chip.
Strek Armstrom |
I think you missed the part about Marixah being *poor*, though.
Medals aren't worth anything ;-)
Strek Armstrom |
Plus, Hobgoblins aren't known for suicidally blowing up their ships. And they're worth Build Points!
Jaraduk Cometrunner |
Melissa's plan has less levers and pulleys. But yes, there is risk of fallout with the GA. Still, I don't know if I'd call it a "good relationship" with the GA. They seem to believe they have leverage. That' a tenuous connection already.
