The header says book 3 (but maybe it means through book 3?) But even that is a lot :D

Some spicy credit totals. Now comes the question of what to buy... And whether it will just get accidentally obsoleted after the first encounter in the next book.
Yeah, that was rough... I can personally promise that nobody's gear will be obsoleted in the first third of the next AP. The second third though... that has some juicy rewards.

Jaraduk Cometrunner wrote:What is our individual total-total at this point? 5019 + slide 8 divided up (or not, it says individual)?I think it starts from the EJ Elysian advance bullet and then down.
So it is: 3k + 450 + 1001 + 4k + 1k + 5k + 400 + 2.5k + 6.5k + the final 5019 =
28,870 credits total per individual character.
Yepp, that is right! Wealth per level would put you at 23,000 now that you're Level 7 (Woo!!!). So you're actually up credits by about half a level at this point. That should actually work out fine, since our group isn't super optimized.

Woo hoo. improved get em. I'm a real envoy now
I can get that +4 dex enhancement bonus and maybe hit the broad side of a dragon now.
tactful advisor. Get back on track for the worlds most helpful intern.
If my aid another hits +20 you get a +1 enhancement on top of the aid.
With the time piece she can afford to get an organic armor upgrade slot graft and a filtered rebreather. For less acid in the face.... (for some reason)
And darkvision capacitors (i always forget there's a low level cheap one)

Also remember in starfinder , even without using consumables, you lose considerably more of your wealth to gear replacement and selling than you would in pathfinder.

Some highlights of Guess?'s new abilities with the level up to 7:
Will update character sheet later on after I've figured out his purchases...

Some highlights from Akh's level 7:
- His entropic strikes now have the knockdown crit effect, which automatically knocks the target prone on a crit.
- He gets uncanny agility, like Guess?, becoming immune to flat-footed, and foes not getting bonuses to flanking him or attacking him while he's prone.
Nothing else too exciting, except being able to afford some premium armor and defensive upgrades. Should be good!

Guess? |

If you haven't gotten the +4 upgrade via petting the ghost of the dead sea whale, this is the level we can pick them up.
You're referring to personal upgrades, right?
I don't get the ghost of dead sea whale reference...

BigNorseWolf |

Jaraduk and melissa both got charmed into walking towards Some enormous creature As it was dying it gave Jaraduk a mk2 ability crystal.
The way that scene plays out in my head, everyone expected melissa to try to pet it and scruffed her. No one was watching jaraduk so of course he got to it first.

Guess? |

Oh yah! That's right! I had forgotten about that encounter!
Saves some cash for Jaraduk! Perhaps leaving some extra funds for him to buy healing serums and grenades! I feel like we haven't yet witnessed Jaraduk's full bombardier potential.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

hehe, he's bought some healing serums now. Haven't spent most of his creds yet but trying out a new powered armor.

Guess? |

GM Ewok, I have a couple questions:
1. How much does it cost to remove those experimental shadow nerves from Guess?
2. As level 7 characters, what level equipment can we buy again? Was it as high as level 8 equipment or level 9 equipment? I ask because I figure at this level, it's time to get some flight capability and while jetpacks are level 5, forcepacks are level 9. If we're allowed to buy lvl 9 gear, I'll probably go with the forcepack instead of the jetpack.

Later than evening, Shan appears at Strek's room.

Ecoterrorists run amok On Aglian 5!
Things are much deader under the sea after an unknown number of ecoterrorists plumbed the depth of the oceans and the depths of sentient depravity seeking to halt the march of progress. At least 10 brave souls have been sent to Rasheens locker in a futile attempt to stop their onslaught. The terrorist cabal intoxicated the employees at the main base senseless and then proceeded blow up a lab despite the 5 civilian contractors on board. (grainy footage of melissa and jaraduk beating on the stations pump) Using eldritch magics, they blew up a harvester, seen here in its final moments trying to sustainably harvest breakfast cereal grains for orphans on Akiton.
The CEO herself heroically stepped in to help her body guards stop the destruction but to no avail. The felons tossed her into a ball of Piranha like eels to be devoured alive. She was the best of us and will truly be missed. A memorial hoard has been set up in her honor to help underprivileged hatchlings...

BigNorseWolf |

Haha! Awesome! A little bit too much time on your hands this evening? Insomnia perhaps?
;-)
Everyone is on vacation this week so I have the whole house to myself. Which means i can do home improvement projects and do things like stand on the stairs (i need to go up.. i need to go down. I'm coming back up again. I'm going back down again...) keep my tools out without spending half an hour looking for each of them (i put it away...it STILL had paint on it? It was in my hand five minute ago...) or GASP. get something messy because work...the back puts a hard timer on some things but as long as I works in intervals its not that bad.
So tonights project is a hole in the wall. Spackle. wait two hours sand spackle wait two hours sand spackle wait 8 hours prime wait 8 hours paint.

Del Reisora |

Del's notable changes are mostly new spells. Learning caustic fissure at 1st level, and slow and tenacious plow at 3rd level, and retraining pressurize to grease now that we're out of the water. Her feat this level is enhanced resistance (fire).
And for gear, she's finally swapping her original battle glove for a new gauntlet (measured bone cestus), updating her armor to clear weave II, getting a new armor upgrade (mk 1 electrostatic field), a mk 1 ring of resistance, and a bunch of healing serums (three mk 3, and four mk 2).

Guess? |

Turns out Guess? didn't have the funds for a forcepack, so a jetpack will have to do. Here are the items he's picked up:

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

Purchases
- 2x mk 2 healing serums
- ring of resistance mk2
- null space chamber mk2
- advanced lashunta tempweave
- spacer carapace
Level up soldier 7
Feat Enhanced Resistence: Fire
Gear boost Powerful Explosive

Actually, with Melissa's Medical skill she can actually remove your necrografts with only a very small chance of complications! A real doctor would cost a decent amount of credits (that EJ health insurance isn't sounding so bad right about now. lol)

Guess? |

Melissa wouldn't purposefully introduce 'complications', no-sir-ee-bob! Never in a million years!

If it was your TONGUE she might install a swear filter or a lie buzzer but she'd never mess with your backbone.

FYI: I'll be away this coming weekend starting Friday evening 9/8 through Sunday 9/10 (US/Pacific time). I will have limited access to post from my phone, so I may be able to keep up over the weekend but can't guarantee a post. As it is the weekend, I suspect this won't be very disruptive to the game.

Yeah, I imagine tattoos are slightly less permanent than eyeballs and, well...
Not too mention that at this point y'all have gone from paycheck to paycheck to ... well, much larger paycheck to paycheck. PC spending habits will do that to you.

I'll be traveling for work until next Wednesday. I may be able to get a couple of posts in, but feel free to bot me in the mean time.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

So, I was able to get in a post today but I certainly won't be able to tomorrow.
I'm away this weekend, didn't expect *any* access. Now that I looked I forgot to mention this away time.

A space walk to Futz with the antenna might be in order. Could we put something on it so that its working fine but we get an off switch?
I think I linked this video already, but jamming it comes to mind!

I may have missed the reason in the posts while I was traveling, but I haven't been able to spot it on a skimming read.
It's in this post: link
Basically, the mercs will fly the ship to Fortune's Heart. Then they get off and their job is done. They will take a shuttle home.
We're not sure what happens next and who takes over the treasure ship. So better to remain hidden and assuming they don't find us, wait for the mercs to leave once we reach Fortune's Heart. Then we see what happens next.

Yepp! Though after all these years on the boards I still don't know how to link to specific posts...
slip onto the empty ship as it is leaving the EJ shipyards, fly it to it's Kalistocracy destination, pick up the cargo... just like you normally do...
So you need to get the Golden Thread ship to the Fortune's Heart kalistocrat station. Once there, you'll need to figure out how to get the valuable cargo off station. Though it hasn't been explicitly stated, there's been a few implications that getting onto the Station will be a lot easier if the mercenaries are alive and unaware of you. Though with Guess?'s deception skills it's more an alignment decision than a practical one.

TY Guess and Ewok! My reading comprehension failed me on the earlier post and I thought the mercs were sticking around afterward (in which case we'd probably be just as well off dealing with them and then impersonating them).

copy the link in the time/date of the post.

Alright, everybody! It is with much sadness that I must announce that our friend Strek/Nefreet is not going to be continuing with us in our adventure. Life has gotten busy for him, and he's not able to engage with PbP right now. I've had a wonderful time playing with Nefreet over the years, across APs and scenarios, and have enjoyed all of it. If there's ever a time when he returns to the boards, I will be the first one in line to play together again.
Some of you noticed the hook I put in at the end of the last book for Strek. Strek, reunited with his old friend and (possibly romantic?) companion, is going to stay on Absalom Station with Shan and start up a mechanics-for-hire business. Though he has formed a tight bond with all of you, his crew, he's going to take his share of the spoils and use it to live out a more peaceful life with Shan. He won't be able to retire in riches, like all of you hopefully will if this job goes right, but that's alright with him. He'll still be around, so it's only goodbye for now, you'll still be able to stop in to see him and Shan when you're on Station between jobs. I wanted to give a high level overview of his goodbye situation, so everyone can picture how it went down. I'll be keeping it here in the Discussion thread, in case Nefreet has the opportunity to make a final post for Strek.
---
To get a little bit of business out of the way... this does affect our party composition. We're going to move forward with five players, as we're a bit far along in the AP and I wasn't able to rope in the few players I trust to jump in at this point. I think we can still tell the story beautifully and have a lot of fun with just five. Mechanically, I'll just adjust the combats and challenges to five instead of six, that won't be hard. The biggest change I see is some of those Mechanic-focused skills. Melissa has them covered, but to a lesser degree than Strek did. So, to compensate, anyone who wants to can make some very focused rebuild-lite changes to their character to fill a more mechanic/engineer/hacker role can feel free. (We'll say Strek gave some lessons on his way out.) Things this could look like: Changing your skill allocations around to more heavily weight in Computers & Engineering. Swapping a feat out to improve at hacking/engineering. Maybe even swapping into a heavier ranged weapon focus, since that was Strek's schtick. No pressure for anyone to change, APs can be done with any party composition, but if something strikes you then please propose it.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

Jaraduk seems like a good candidate for this. His profession (mercenary) and piloting seldom have an effect in the game (maybe piloting is sacrificed first).
Athletics and acrobatics make enough sense as a soldier to keep and culture is simply useful more often.
Perhaps piloting -> engineering?
Secondarily, maybe profession -> survival just because it comes up more often?
I suppose we still need to pick up on computers/hacking, but that's further outside of Jaraduk's wheelhouse.

Jaraduk Cometrunner |

Separately, I don't know if Nefreet will read this, but I'm sad to see you go. Strek was a great character. He'll be missed. I hope life makes time for gaming in your future!

Del Reisora |

That's too bad, but I totally understand. Take care, Strek! Until next time! It's been a pleasure.

bigboom |

I am very sad to see you step back, Nefreet/Strek. However, I totally understand and wish you all the best with your RL endeavors! Gaming with you on the forums over the years has been a blast and you'll be sorely missed.
If life opens up in the future and gives you a bit more time again for PbP, please reach out!
