Pandir Gorah |

The good news is, they're probably bleeding out, and Pandir can stop the bleeding.
Unless they kill her...

GM Omelas |

Interestingly enough, in PF2 NPCs/enemies die the moment their HP reaches 0, no saves or anything of the sort possible.
I honestly don't really get the point of that rule and am happy to ignore it.

GM Omelas |

It was very nice of you to ask, Grog. One hero point for taking care of your fellow players.

Pandir Gorah |

I'm just glad I decided not to Tumble Through and help Grog flank. Pandir would have gotten stuck and in the way.

hi all—apologies for lack of posting, going through a very rough couple of weeks. Still committed to seeing this campaign through, will hopefully be in the mental state to resolve your actions tonight.

Pandir Gorah |

I'll be on a vacation this weekend. The hotel should have wifi but if you don't hear from me for the next 40 hours you know why.

GM Omelas |

@Grog, wanted to check something:
Failing the Fort save means you will be poisoned, which is a status effect. Poison damage aside (which may or may not be recurrent and may or may be bigger than the current value), there might be other negative consequences coming with it, which vary with the type of poison. There are many legitimate reasons to willingly fail the roll and I'm all for it, but I wanted you to be aware this is not a move without some risk.
I'll give Finch another day to post her actions.

Grothog the Exiled |

I think I can roll another Fortitude save to stop the persistent poison damage?
Also, which enemies are invisible? Can Grog find a way to attack them?

GM Omelas |

Yes, you can roll a fort save again, same DC. Afflictions (poisons, diseases, etc) all work more or less the same way: once you are exposed to it, you roll a first save. If you fail, you enter affliction stage 1 (in this case, some poison damage). From then on, each tick of the affliction (in this case, one round) you get another save. Failing increments the stage, succeeding decrements it. If you reach stage 0, you no longer have that affliction. Most afflictions tend to go away naturally as well, after a set amount of time (though of course reaching the final stage of some might result in death).
Regarding visible enemies: at the moment you only see the wolf. The translucent avatars mark the last known position of each enemy. The demons are invisible. More info on invisible: https://pf2easy.com/index.php?id=416&name=invisible
You can try to attack their last position. If they are there, they're considered hidden to you, which means there's a chance you will miss even if you roll really well. More info on
You can also use the seek action to try and find where they are right now. More info on seek: https://pf2easy.com/index.php?id=1088&name=Seek

GM Omelas |

@Grog: regarding holding an action to charge, I don't believe that is possible. The only similar thing I could find in the rules was the delay action (https://pf2easy.com/index.php?id=1081&name=Delay), which allows you to act later. The fact it is a free action with a trigger of "your turn begins" seems to indicate you cannot break your turn in two.
For reference, this is the full list of basic encounter actions: https://pf2easy.com/index.php?id=5874&name=Basic_Actions

I think we're waiting on Katala and Finch. Finch I think would Seek and then Stride and Strike. Katala, maybe using telekinesis to throw a tablecloth at the demons' last known location could help make the melee fighters more useful?

GM Omelas |

Yass! End is in sight!
Will post later today, the first leg of this week was insane on my side.

Grothog the Exiled |

One of the founding principles of the Wayward Wonders is not to profit from the mockery and exoticisation of bodies. As such, they have established their own brand of sideshow devoted to the idea that anyone can be interesting. In The Sideshow of Everyday Marvels, people with commonplace appearances tell the fantastical tales of their own lives.
Due to this, I think Grothog is embodying that principle now; the party is a mismatch band of circus performers who have the fate of the Abberton on their shoulders. Even they can be interesting. Even they can be heroes when there are no more heroes.
@DM: Please start the final encounter. We can bot those who don't play.

GM Omelas |

hi all! sorry, been dealing with some family problems. Will post in a couple of hours.

Grothog the Exiled |

I don't know how many players are left for the boss fight, or how much drive we have as players to wrap this up.
Are we still down, team? I think we could just narrate the ending if there is no interest to play this out.

Pandir Gorah |

We may as well narrate at this point. Sounds like we're up to the last encounter in this region, anyway.

Grothog the Exiled |

Or last encounter in this module. It sure feels like it; demons all over (including clear mind-manipulation), heavy hints of a succubus, and the resolution of the build-up since Myron's death.

Sherry Rosefinch |

I've been reading along, but my overall motivation for PbP has been very low. I should be able to muster through one more combat encounter, but I'm not against narrating the end bit either.

RL got you down?

GM Omelas |

Longest couple hours ever. Sorry again, but things are in a better place now and I should have time/energy to post regularly until the end of the game.
I'm not entirely sure what we mean by combat-narration, but am quite willing to try.

Grothog the Exiled |

Yeah the idea of combat narration is basically that you narrate how the fight ends (like a cutscene where we're all botted).
But since we're already fighting it's not necessary. Just have to drop this succ to 0.

Pandir Gorah |

I wonder if this BBEG has a cool backstory, as succcubi are a much higher CR. We should be charmed and/or dominated at this point if we were fighting a full-powered one.

GM Omelas |

Yeap, Grog had the right of it. I will give Finch one more day and end the game officially.

So, we are done. I thank you all for putting up with me and not giving up even when RL began to rear its head.
For me, personally, this was very fun and interesting—though also exhausting. Never again I will underestimate the difficulties of running an AP (especially through PbP).
I hope you had some fun too and that this ending, despite not being necessarily the one we had envisioned, gave at least some degree of satisfactory closure to you. Again, you were all great and amazing, and I thank you wholeheartedly.

Pandir Gorah |

Thanks for running this AP, GM!
I did some solo GMing for Fall of Plaguestone and yikes, it's quite a change from PFS scenarios. That adventure is infamously difficult and there are so many "you open a door and a monster attacks, kill it and get the loot" rooms it became a chore.
But I'm glad to have joined this crew, it was a lot of fun.

Sherry Rosefinch |

Once more, I would like to apologise for my spotty attendance towards the end—it was totally due to burnout and other real-life stuff, not the game itself. This was a very enjoyable campaign, despite my personal gripes with 2E as a system. I very much enjoyed GM Omelas' style of running the game, as well as everyone's characters. I'm glad we could bring this story to a satisfying close, even if it we had to limp across the finish line. Thank you all!

This was fun. I was satisfied by how I managed to salvage or create a character arc for Grothog (DM helped a lot). His pacifism gave way to despair, which gave way to bloodlust (and PTSD), which ultimately gave away for a realization that a hero is defined by their actions and not out of self-perception. Clowns to heroes!
I also loved that Katala was the anchor and unofficial leader/spokescat of our team, and how Pandir was a positive actor that always added a unique and funny twist (especially loved the plant-like descriptions and flavor of how she consumed potions, rested, etc.), and Finch was a great fun to read and interact with (especially with her using Grog as a prop/umbrella/coat stand/totem pole/etc.)
I think this crew/party was perfectly fit to have one another.
I likewise don't find that 2e is a perfect fit for me. Maybe it's the multiclassing, maybe it's how the action system and the wide choices of reaction (which doesn't fit PBP), or maybe it's something else.
The game, storytelling, and the stories we had along the way is what kept me here.
I still grin when I remember Finch's psychotic bluff with the fire elementals...
Threatening hostages only works if you care about them, huh? XD
See you guys around.
Groggy out.

GM Omelas |

Yeah, PF2 has some nice things to it, but personally it failed to address most of my complaints regarding PF1.
At the end of the day both systems encourage a type of storytelling I’m not super keen on, and I think it showed a lot towards the last leg of our journey. I wonder what Pathfinder would look like if it didn’t use 500 out of the 600 pages of the core rulebook for combat rules.
Anyway, hope to see you around! I’ll probably take a (very long) break from GMing, but would love to end up in a party with any of you.
Will mark this campaign as inactive on Monday.
