When you succeed with Battle Medicine or Treat Wounds, the target regains 5 additional HP at DC 20, 10 HP at DC 30, or 15 HP at DC 40. Once per day, you can use Battle Medicine on a creature that's temporarily immune. If you're a master in Medicine, you can do so once per hour.

History:

When people tell of who they are or where they came from, unless they were adopted or enslaved, you frequently hear good words about their family, friends and other acquaintances. Not so much in my case. Cat folk aren't very common in Willowside, and my parents weren't originally from there. I know they moved there from Absalom about the time that my mother was carrying me, and they faced numerous hardships. I also know that I wasn't a welcome addition to the family. It wasn't that I was treated poorly. I was adequately fed and I wasn't physically abused. If anything I guess I'd say that I was ignored. That actually is a big part of my character development.

I was 11 years old when I encountered Flicker. I can think of other words to describe it, but encounter really is the best. I was walking along the stinky shoreline, wondering why the bare-skinned people seemed to enjoy cavorting around in the water, and this tiny bird almost jabbed it's tiny beak into my face. I flailed at it but luckily it was faster than me and dodged my hand. It didn't attack me anymore as I guess it just wanted to get my attention. I thought it was rather weird. I mean, I'm a cat! It's a bird! It should have been afraid of me! Actually, I'd never consider killing and eating a little bird, but it shouldn't have known that! It continued flitting around me, sometimes ahead and sometimes out of sight behind me until I sat in the sand. Then it landed on my knee. It just sat there looking at me until I focused my attention directly on it. Then I felt a connection. Long story short, that connection was my Patron, some mysterious entity that I commune with through Flicker and gain guidance and magical power.

Shortly after that encounter I decided to leave home. I don't know if my parents cared or not. I'm certain that the folk of Willowside hardly noticed. They had enough trouble with the sickness that was plaguing the area. I just packed a bag with some food and basic gear and the few coins that were mine. I didn't want to be seen as stealing from my parents or causing them additional hardship. I woke early, slightly before dawn, and walked away. I didn't really know where I was going, but Flicker seemed to have a direction. We walked south west for several days, hunting and replenishing my waterskin from little streams. I hadn't known hunger before but I was learning about it before we came across an old elf. Now I had no idea how long elves lived. I hadn't known many so I didn't realize how strange it might sound to say "old elf". He greeted me and reached out a hand to Flicker. She landed on his hand, surprising me and letting me know that this was our destination. He told me to call him Elon even though that wasn't his name, and that he had a lot to teach me and not really very long to do it. The next few years went pretty quick. I learned that I was a Duskwalker and though I don't understand it, that may have been why my parents had the troubles when I was conceived. I learned several useful skills and learned to commune with Flicker to ready my spells in the morning. Elon wasn't a witch, but he did understand what I needed to know. He gave me a good background in medical treatments for non-magical healing of wounds, working with animals (I seem to have a knack with the cats. I wonder why!?!) and realizing that even though they lack much intelligence they can be trained, and various other things that he felt were important.

I was eighteen and fully an adult when I parted from Elon. He started my day by handing me a pack and pointing north. He said that I needed to travel to the Isle of Erran and the city of Escadar and join the circus. It was a strange direction, but not really out of character. He said that my skills would be useful there, but that it would be just a short stop in my life. I never really understood when he said such things, but I knew that I wouldn't get any more from him.

Very shortly after joining the Celestial Menagerie (circus) in Escadar I learned the meaning of Elan's cryptic words. The leader of the circus was a vicious woman named Mistress Dusklight. And her actions had led a number of the performers to band together and create their own circus. I joined with them and we headed to Abberton. Not a great start, but we needed to learn how to function as a group.

Signature Trick:

With the reduced staff available for performances Katala is dismayed at her lack of skills related to performance. She had felt that she could work with the animals (cats!?!) and maybe help with any wounds that needed to be treated. She ponders the problem for a while, then comes up with a possible solution.

A large curtain is pulled around an empty area. A gray furred cat lady comes out waving her hands (paws?) around and the sound or rushing water is heard. She turns from the audience and waves an assistant to pull the curtain away. As the curtain is pulled a waterfall is revealed. There is a small pool at the base of the waterfall with a few clowns playing in it. The cat lady turns back to the audience and grins. Two of the clowns come forward and grab her, starting to drag her toward the water. She let's out a scream.... "Fool! Cats hate water!"

The clowns drag her into the pool and dunk her behind a couple of clowns. A moment later the sound ends and the waterfall and pool disappear. But where is the cat lady?

There is movement of the curtain as the cat lady appears again, pulling the curtain around the clowns.
