About Viridel of Ashel'delore
Raised initially as an apprentice of powerful wizard enclave in a renowned powerful noble house, Viridel was the ninth (and last) child of his parents, a prodigously large family for elves. Possessing clear sky-blue eyes that reflected the stars, Viridel grew in the shadow of his siblings--the bladesinger, the treesinger, the demon-hunter, the high palace-guard, the warden against demons, the successful tradesman, the cunning politician, and the calm matron wise-elf.
Choosing to close the circle of careers, Viridel was the most gifted in sorcery, raised from youth in the ways of magic in the strange court of the high wizards of Kyonin. Where politics and magic intersected, Viridel proved to be extremely capable in the latter, but dismally at loss in the former. Disappointing his father, who wished for another eye and mouth in the royal court, Viridel retreated into the ivory towers of Kyonin's magical community, researching prophecies and visions, and publishing books on the interpretation of dreams--something the elves of Kyonin found quite a smash hit. Despite his angular elven features and high bearing, Viridel was no diplomat, and his long periods of silent reflections earned him a reputation in the elven lands as an eccentric.
Surprisingly lacking in elven arrogance and replacing it with humble curiosity, Viridel would roam the Inner Sea while between the decades of practical and theoretical research, encountering many hardships, losses, and victories along the way. He tutoring the children of several nobility (somewhat mollifying his great father, who promptly employed such favors to the betterment of the house), but found the shorter-lived races to be supremely better students.
He would never fail to be surprised at how fast his once-students grow (and how badly most treated the spellbooks he gave them), and would realize that most of his prophecies were unwelcomely received, especially when they turned out accurate. Managing to seal away an elder succubus in Galt and her troupe of fiends who used the chaos to steal the souls of the human races, Viridel found that, depressingly, one of his students refused his advice, and fell into the crowd of demonologists that caused the great Fire of Garcel.
After this, he became more eclectic in his choice of students, and clearer in his advice and prophecies--sometimes bending his vision to more clearly drive a student away from evil.
