Cool - hope you had a nice break! I just PM'd you a note.
GM Dennis |
Use your judgement for your table, but that sounds reasonable.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Not mine, but they’ve talked their way through the first two anchors. Time to switch it up.
GM Doug H |
We finished all 5 anchors on the 2nd, Arodeth a couple days ago, and are now back outside getting extra anchor successes. But the group seems to be a little disinterested in fighting the same enemies over again.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Well, as I understand it the Vault isn't even supposed to be open yet for us to meet Arodeth.
GM Dennis |
Speaking of which, we have 5 days left. We're currently on track for an Impressive Performance, not quite an Unrivaled Accomplishment. We do have the minimum number of Anchor successes (30) to escape though.
shaventalz |
I'm hoping to get them into a fight in G, but they're in bad shape currently. Underequipped 4-person party (mostly level 1), and the time storm from one of the Anchor encounters was a 3rd-level barbarian.
Looking back, I should have used the dino encounter instead (lower HP/CR), but thought they'd had enough of that in Sessegishoss.
GM Dennis |
No worries. Not everyone needs to do the vault. You could also nudge them towards the 'talk her down' solution, if they've got some diplomacy among them.

The problem is that, according to my reading, they don't get any of the boons under "Champion of Time" if they don't successfully complete an encounter in area G.
I still think the choice to point them towards the last Anchor encounter was good, considering that at the time we were still 4 successes short of being able to leave. And really, "10-table TPK" is a harsher penalty than "you don't get a limited version of the Extra Trait boon."
I suspect they'll try the diplomatic encounter, but the lack of a 4-player adjustment is really going to hurt them there. Just have to see what they decide.
EDIT:
Each PC who participates in Part 3 also earns the Champion of Time boon, gaining one of the three versions depending on the table’s actions during the final encounters. If the PCs killed Lady Arodeth, they earn the Conqueror of Time boon. If they convinced Lady Arodeth to abandon her plans, they earn the Councilor of Time boon. If they did neither but defeated at least one of Lady Arodeth’s simulacra, they earn the Defender of Time boon.
GM Zin |
Hmmmm, my table is still at the *start* of our first Anchor attempt. I may just fast-forward to the vault so I don't deprive them of the chance at a boon.
Grandmaster TOZ |
I'm having my team leave the simulacra to the other teams and just pushing through to the second area where she is.
shaventalz |
How is everyone else determining what counts as a "failure" for the skill checks against Lady Arodeth?
The PCs need 5 successes, 2 of which must be against a harder DC. 3 failures starts a battle.
But... what if they keep hitting the DC that can be a success? If they exactly hit the average DC 4 times, is the fourth one counted as a failure? I think the intent is probably "yes, that's a failure," but would like to get someone else's opinion on it as well.
GM Doug H |
If the DCs are Hard and the party is not meeting that DC, they fail the check. You probably want to find a way to signal this mechanical change in-character, as well as Arodeth's growing ire when they fail.
GM Dennis |
Yeah, that's the plan. We've hit the top milestone for Anchor Successes, so I don't think there's any reason to delay the ending.
GM Dennis |
The only things tied to the number of Lady Arodeth successes from a House perspective are the Code Green condition (which won't make much difference at this point) and ending things early. The only real concern with them at this point is cutting tables off before they have a chance earn the boon that Shaventalz pointed out. I'll do a scan through, but let me know if your table is likely to be cut off in the middle of your first crack at Lady Arodeth/her simulacra.
GM Doug H |
Oh nice. We got enough for an "Unrivaled Accomplishment"? I'm about to turn in Anchor Success 7. I guess my group can rest after this.
GM Dennis |

Yep, we now have 38 Anchor successes. Combine that with our 64 Victory Points, and we're above the 10*tables (100) threshold for Unrivaled Accomplishment.
GM Zin |
We started fighting three simulacra yesterday, but my table has been running very slowly; I'd hate to push the game out if most other tables are twiddling thumbs. Do we just need to kill one of them, or complete the encounter by defeating all three?
Edit: Just read the text, and it does say "at least one of," so we should be good shortly. One of the simulacra is on her last legs.

I just realized... boons. Checking my email and the gameday announcement thread, I don't have anything about how boons are to be handled or what they are.
So... what are the odds and possible prizes? It looks like Outpost III was 10% per participant, but that was part of an email. All I really found this time was the announcement thread saying "We expect to be able to offer boons for PFS." The reporting form does list some possible boons, so I assume that's correct, but it's worth checking. And what's the "gift card" option there in the boon list?

You should have received an email from Derek Larson (AKA Tyranius) on September 3rd, titled "Gameday IX Boon Rolls", containing all the boon info. I'll paste it in the spoiler below:
HOW DO I GET A RACE BOON AS A GM? DO I HAVE TO ROLL FOR IT?
No rolling required. You just have to finish your table, give your players their chronicle sheets and then report it to our fancy reporting link:
Reporting Link: https://pbpgameday.com/reporting.php
If you are a Boxrunner for PACS, you get an ACG Organizer Boon. If you are GMing both Pathfinder 1E and Starfinder, you get your choice. If you are only GMing in one campaign, you earn the race boon from the campaign where you GMed. When reporting, please let us know in the note field which race boon you earned.
I NOTICED YOU DIDN’T MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT A 2E GM BOON. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
GMs only running PFS2 do not get the boons that PFS1 and SFS get - there is a system already built into the reporting system [AcP] for PFS2 rewards, so those GMs do not get the boons that GMs running PFS1 or SFS are getting. Basically, if you run only PFS2, you only get the AcP reward – no other boon – if you run PFS2 and one-or-the-other of PFS1/SFS then you get the AcP reward for PFS2 and the one “paper” boon for whichever system you ran. If you run all three, PFS2, PFS1, and SFS – you get the AcP reward for PFS2, and then you pick which of the “paper” boons you want for PFS1 and SFS – but you do not get all three – you get AcP + one or the other “paper” boon.
For more information on Achievement Points please visit the 2E PFS Guild Guide. Link straight to the Achievement Points portion is below.
http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pathfinder-2-0-organize d-play-basics/#special-rewards
With this being a convention the Achievement Points allocated are in the Premier Event, so GM’s and Players alike will receive more than a standard game.
HOW DO I TELL WHAT PLAYER BOONS WE GET?
Have your players roll a D20, if a player is unavailable you may roll for them. Remember to roll for yourself at the same time. A 19 or 20 wins a boon (Nat 20 for PACS). If you or a player win, do another roll for each winner.
For PACS: There is a single boon, no need to roll.
For PFS: Roll a d3 to determine which one you get.
For Starfinder: Roll a d3 to determine which one you get.
There should be a drop-down the reporting form where you can mark who won what boons.
-Tyranius
Remember to collect email addresses from anyone who wins; you'll need to report them on the reporting form, so the boon can be delivered.

I did not get that email. Checked the account I would have used (which is the one that Paizo knows about) as well as my other main email. Nothing. Unless it got treated as junk mail and automatically deleted a couple weeks ago, but I tend to dig through that folder fairly regularly.

This wouldn't have anything to do with what email Paizo has. It came from Tyranius, and would have been to whatever email you put on the Google Form when you signed up to GM the special.
Anyway, if the info in the spoiler doesn't answer your question, let me know and I can try to answer it more thoroughly.

Yeah, that's why I checked both.
In any case, the rolls were all too low, so no boons anyway.

Alright folks, I've posted the wrap-up message; if I somehow missed your table, let me know. If you're mid-combat with an Arodeth/simulacra and your players haven't defeated one yet, feel free to finish that combat if you'd like. Otherwise, wrap up your table and don't forget to report your games through the reporting form for this con. The reporting info can be found HERE. Thank you all for your hard work making this special happen!
Backups, please PM me your info.
Dennis boon: 1d20 ⇒ 1
EM±GM boon: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Thanks for all YOUR hard work, Dennis!
I got to run a fun game for friends, with a couple of awesome backups if I wanted a break.
You have to do admin, field questions and even manage us! ;)
And I’m sure there’s heaps of other stuff I don’t have the foggiest about.
So thank-you.
Is there likely to be another PbP PFS 1e Special next year? I guess Outpost might be our next major PbP con?

I think the plan is to keep offering PF1 specials, but I don't know for sure, or when it would be, I'm afraid.
GM Doug H |
Can you mark this campaign inactive, Dennis?
Thanks again — good work as always!
GM Dennis |
I will in a day or two, just to make sure nothing pops up as games get wrapped up.
