Vulpina hops to the side as the ray nearly gets her instead. "Careful!" she chides, her blade lashing out once more;
Wakizashi Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Wakizashi Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Phooey!

Lupe Fiasco |

Wolf will move.
Casper is the strongest in the group he should try to reposition (CMB).

miteke |

@Casper
I think that was Lupe's point. In order to get a flank you are going to have to get him away from the wall. With your strength and size advantage you can probably do it or a drag maneuver which seems more applicable in this situation.
@Lady
Remember to add the inspire courage bonus and include it in the die roll tag line.
"Me King Mokknokk! You fool humans and me kill you all!" this is greeted by a resounding cheer from the 4 observers, though they probably don't know what he just said.

to hit Sarona: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Sarona takes a dart to the shoulder and leaks a little fluid. The others are missed.

Do I need to do a Combat Maneuver to drag him? I'm not really familiar with all the details of the maneuvers rules. If I can attempt one I'll try to look it up.

miteke |

Yes, it is like a normal to hit roll except you use your CMB as the plus to the roll and you try to bet his CMD instead of AC. If you beat it you can drag him from the wall. If you beat him by 5 you get to drag him further. Of course he will probably try to get back there, but if someone else slips in behind him he won't be able to. Also, if you do not have a special skill with the maneuver, when you fail they typically get an attack on you.

As the frequent player-who-tries-to-do-something-cool-and-then-gets-stuck, I apologize for any games you may have played with me. I think Thyste is my one exception :P

Now, now, you have never annoyed me and I like cool. Even failed cool. Much preferable to a well oiled yet mechanical team. Anyway, I was not referring to you specifically, it's just the medium. Because there is not a group of people discussing in real time, and because you can easily forget what was discussed after a day or two between posts, it is just *a thing* you have to deal with in PbP.

Lupe Fiasco |

Wolf will bite and Lupe will swing at the same time.

Did you both remember to add Lupe's inspire bonus to your damage? Assuming of course he maintained it, which I assume he did. And the divine favor? Please remember to put any bonuses in your die roll, such as "dice=to hit, divine favor, inspire courage...". That way I know for certain you remembered your bonuses and I can check your math.

I forget bonuses every time :D Please add the appropriate buffs. Shouldn't make a difference in my hitting, but if there's a damage boost that'll be handy.

Rahella |

Rahella cast yet again and sent another glob of acid at the pugwampi with the axe. In her efforts to avoid hitting her allies though Rahella mis timed her launch and in trying to avoid hitting Lupe her spell splattered to the ground near her feet.

does it hit? (doubt it did to begin with): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11

miteke |

Edit! Recalculated damage. Lupe did 12 by virtue of his cold iron weapon. Lady Vulpina does 3 after DR, and Casper lands 6 after DR. that makes 21, not 19 and the King folds like a cheap suit.
That leaves the two in the rafters and I'm going to say they high-tail it after they send out those retaliatory shatter spells! Good job folks.
Which means you have cleared the facility of any meaningful enemies. You still have some clean up to do (quite literally) but it is time.
LEVEL UP!
And remember to review the level up house rules. You have 1000 gp total of gear now, half price for any gear you have found in game. You just have to cite a reference post.

miteke |

The dust settles and the gremlins flee and you are left in eerie silence as you pause to take a breath. One might ponder the irony that Casper spent most of the battle insisting that everyone should leave and come back, and yet it was his single blow that ended the fight.
You investigate the area, making sure that there are no hideaways and eventually construct something steady enough to get up into the rafters and tear down their nest.
At the center of the grisly jumble of gnoll skulls (you know, that 'chandelier' the gremlin hung from), nestled within a mostly dried excised gnoll lung, you find an uncut garnet worth 150 gp. Further examination into the further reaches of the room you also find the torn-out pages of a copy of The Birth of Light and Truth strewn about the alter there and smeared with excrement, which, if your characters do not already know, they find out is Sarenrae's holy book.
In addition, you find various other religious objects, loose coins, and sundry baubles of varying worth.
Through an ornate window in the northern wall, sans glass, you spot the ruined village of Kelmarane a mile and a half away over the rugged hilltops.

Casper "Pythonglare" Cantour |

"Well, that was excessively labor-some -- what are we to do now that we've clear this godsforsaken ruin of its previous pestilent inhabitants."

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

”Why, report back, of course,” says Vulpina, cleaning her blade on a cloth. ”Miss Sarona, your aid has proven quite useful and is appreciated.”
She looks amongst the group. ”A pity we lost Katsuki-San, but I believe our moral dilemmas will resolve more smoothly without. Altogether, though, if I meet another of those foul little gremlins it will be well before time.”
She holsters her weapons and stretches. ”What I would not give for an evening in a hot spring and a good drink. Even in this heat!”

"And some delectable company." muses Casper to himself, recalling the memory of some of the caravan's strapping horse grooms.

Lupe Fiasco |

"Wow. You are all really amazing! I think I'm on my way to being a proper Knight. Sarona thank you for all your help and Lady Vulpina that move in the rafters was great."

Casper "Pythonglare" Cantour |

"Wow. You are all really amazing! I think I'm on my way to being a proper Knight. Sarona thank you for all your help and Lady Vulpina that move in the rafters was great."
Casper rolls his eyes at Lupe's childlike enthusiasm.

Lupe Fiasco |

"Casper, I can't wait to hear your next plan."

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Vulpina has the self-restraint to offer a coy smile instead of the wide grin she wants to give.
”Why of course, Sir Lupe! I hope you have learned a valuable lesson in combat today. Swinging a blade will get you far, but a spot of cleverness will get you much further.”
She smirks; ”Of course, it helps if you have such wonderful retainers to catch what may fall for you.”

Sarona |

Sarona inclines her head in acceptance of the party's thanks.
"You are welcome. However, my over-reliance on said guidance cantrip has revealed inefficiencies in my choice of spells and tactics. Had I the foresight to prepare multiple invocations of burning hands, the gremlins may not have been as... problematic as they were."
She looks down at her fennec. "Aaliyah and I will need to confer regarding my choice of spells in the future."

Rahella |

Rahella was quite relieved to see the last of the gremlins flee with their leader dead and rejoined with the rest of the group as they examined the place. "If I never see one of these little bastards again it will be too soon," Rahella said, "If I'd known we'd run into so many of those little things I may have prepared a bit different magic to handle them."'
At the mention of Katsuki Rahella just shrugged. She hadn't been too fond of him, though he was promising to be an interesting one to needle at times. Ah well, it would make things easier overall. When she heard mention of hot springs and Rahella nodded and said, "Yes, that woudl be most agreeable I think Vulpina."
Rahella's gaze turned to Lupe as he spoke with such enthusiasm and it drew a slight smile from her. "You are doing very well Lupe, you show much talent and I think that you will have the chance to bloom fully with Katsuki electing to stay with the camp now."

Lupe Fiasco |

Responding to the lady thinking, "Hmmmmm...maybe...I will have to think on that."
Then looking toward Rahella, "Ya. Katsumi has never been great with people. Well, that's not quite right mother says he has high expectations. That's good I guess. I like to do the best I can wherever I can. In the forest, you learn that everything is the way it is and it is best to keep moving or you get your guts eaten."
Lupe hops on Wolf and starts riding toward camp with a big smile on his face.

Casper "Pythonglare" Cantour |

"Casper, I can't wait to hear your next plan."
The red head smiles munificently,
"I can certainly appreciate that -- maybe next time you won't court mortal injury over ill considered tactics if you heeded by advise to a greater extent."

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

”Courting mortal injury is an important part of any plan,” grins Vulpina, half-jesting as she pulls one of the tiny arrows from her shoulder. ”Though I am grateful these barely penetrated my raiments...”

Casper sniff contemptuously at the Lady Vulpina's assertion,
"Maybe for you"

Sarona |

Sarona holds her hands up. "We have all earned a chance to rest and prepare ourselves to continue our task. We should report back to camp and inform Garavel of our success in clearing the monastery--there will be time for arguments when we have done so."

Sarona holds her hands up. "We have all earned a chance to rest and prepare ourselves to continue our task. We should report back to camp and inform Garavel of our success in clearing the monastery--there will be time for arguments when we have done so."
"With that I can full heartedly agree."

Lupe Fiasco |

"I can certainly appreciate that -- maybe next time you won't court mortal injury over ill considered tactics if you heeded by advise to a greater extent."
"Hmmmm...maybe..." Lupe thinks to himself how he had to run in a hit thing during Casper's plan too, and can can't find a difference. Then there was the fire. "Some magic can't be planned around, so you have to think on your feet like Sarona. He has wolf dart back and forth. "But the scheming is pretty fun. I like the talking and I have lots of stuff for plans. Remind me to show you my stuff."
arona holds her hands up. "We have all earned a chance to rest and prepare ourselves to continue our task. We should report back to camp and inform Garavel of our success in clearing the monastery--there will be time for arguments when we have done so."
"When we get back I'm going to replace the missing water and see if I can get some people packed!"

miteke |

You all congratulate one another as you trek back to the main camp, easily catching up with Katsumi, who is quiet and contemplative. Not precisely angry, but not pleased with you all.
"Lupe. Good to see you brother. Sorry I had to leave you like that, but I just can't... You understand, right?"
Garavel once again meets you before you are able to step into camp with a concerned look on his face. There is blood and you returned so quickly.
"How did you fare? More difficult than you thought? You said things were going well before and that you were making a final sweep, so maybe things went surprisingly well? Though you are all wounded again, so..."

Lupe Fiasco |

"The team was amazing everybody did really well. We cleared out the boss and two of the little creature ran a way so we did not have to fight them. You would have liked that."
Looking down at his wounds. "I don't think this is going to be an easy journey I'm going to get hurt a lot. But I think I can keep leading by example being brave and protecting people. Are you ok?"

Casper rolls his eyes noticeably at Lupe's mention of leading by example, while his mouth makes the shape, but not the sound, of some species of disrespectful epithet.

miteke |

sense motive Garavel: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Garavel picks up on the fact that Lupe is clearly overly optimistic (not a difficult DC) and some of the group may not share his opinions.
"Us? Nothing much has changed. We are still cleaning up after the disaster, but if you are saying that the monastery is ready for us, we should put that aside and look into moving camp."
Gavavel looks to the others for confirmation.

Lupe Fiasco |

"Sounds like a good idea to me. Let me top of all the water for the walk. It's hot out there."

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Vulpina nods. ”We have slain most of what lived inside and the remaining pugwampis largely fled after the demise of their leader. I would say it is at least as safe as anywhere else, but likely moreso.”
