Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Vulpina nods.
”I am in no hurry to see my rations again; I believe we can cover you from here?” she asks the others, as she ponders whether the GM will let her switch from her loaded pellets to a single shot without having to fire the weapon.

miteke |

She steps forward and like diving daggers, she is assaulted by 4 bat-like creatures that look like oversized mosquitoes, none of which have recognized, yet' that Sarona is inedible. Seems like they were out of sight in the rafters and have done this thing before, as evidenced by the remains.
stirges: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
stirges: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
stirges: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
stirges: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Lupe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Lupe's Wolf: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Sarona's familiar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Casper: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Sarona: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Katsumi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Lady Vulpina: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Rahella: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
touch, charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 10
touch, charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 = 13
Two of them drop from the rafters so quickly nobody gets a chance to react, though one of them almost laughably careens off the other one and goes *splat* on the floor. The other latches on and begins to suck doing one point of constitution damage. But almost as soon as it sticks its proboscis in, it removes it with a jerk, as it discovers that it is not sucking food. It does not look like it liked that at all!
[dice=damage]
Lupe, Wolf, Katsumi, and Sarona all are on high alert and spot the others before they can make contact.

Rahella |

As they continued their search Rahella looked at the various works of art with interest but didn't linger too long at any one of them. It wasn't until they reached the foul smelling mess of a room that Rahella found herself baffled. The others seemed to think this was the most retched stuff they'd ever smelled but truthfully she didn't find it all that bad. Not a shock really considering where she grew up at.
Rahella looked at the others and, when no one spoke up volunteering to go in, cast a spell to detect magic as well. She saw the source of the magic aura and knew that it might prove useful so, when no one else spoke up she rolled her eyes and said, "Fine, give me a minute."
Rahella pulled out her bulkier outer robes and pulled them on then began rustling around underneath them. When she was done she took what she had been wearing, the much nicer and far more revealing garments, and placed them in her pack. She then chanted and gestured, casting a spell that made her garments emit a pleasant smell. It wasn't as good as she would like but she'd been around far worse smells so she figured she could manage this.
"If something comes for me distract it," she said and then began to wade in to where she saw the magical aura as she activated a barrier to protect her should she be attacked.
Cast prestidigitate to make the clothes smell nice and twilight barrier as I wade in towards the magic. This is the second? time I've cast barrier today I believe so that should be 2 res pts?
...well crap, I just wrote all that up inbetween tasks at work and it turns into a complete waste cause of other posts before me. Oh well. Combat will wait until I get home.

Sarona |

Sarona recoils from the stirge that bit her and swings her staff!
Smack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
She then backs away to let someone else take her place.

miteke |

Well, dang! Couldn't we just diverge into parallel universes and then remerge?
Sarona reels back outside of the room, the stirge still clinging to her in confusion, spewing some weird colored fluid from it's snout.
But no attack since this is a surprise round and you only get one standard action, not that it mattered as you missed.

Lupe Fiasco |

Lupe and Wolf are going to run in and see if they can clear the creature off of Sarona.
Bastard Sword Attack (S) 19-20: 1d20 + 0 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 0 + 3 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
--------------------------------------------------------------
If wolf did not have to move he will also attack otherwise wolf will use his move to get Lupe in position.
Bite (BSP): 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

miteke |

Since Sarona so kindly brings the stirge to Lupe, Lupe cleanly slices the one still clinging haplessly to Sarona right off her body, separating the sticky feet from the torso. It flops to the ground in agony and lays there twitching, while Sarona stands there with 6 little spiny legs sticking out of her back.
Then wolf charges into the room and snaps at the one on the floor, tearing it to shreds.
I'm going to assume wolf does a partial charge into the room after Lupe attacks and snaps at the one on the ground. With the +4 from it being prone, the +2 from charging, and the fact that I am going to deny it its dex bonus for the fun of it because of the nat 1, Wolf tears it to shreds. Of course that will make you the target for the other two stirges so please confirm.

Lupe Fiasco |

That is perfect!

miteke |

The remaining two stirges dive bomb Lupe, who is the closest target for the stirges.
target, 1-2 Lupe, 3 wolf: 1d3 ⇒ 2touch, charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12
target, 1-2 Lupe, 3 wolf: 1d3 ⇒ 1touch, charge: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 = 27
The first one barely misses and swoops up before hitting the ground like the mauled stirge below it. But the second one latches on to Lupe and starts sucking blood.
Katsumi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Lady Vulpina: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Casper: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Lupe and wolf: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Rahella: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Sarona: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Sarona's familiar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
stirge 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

I keep checking this from my phone, going "Oh, I need to hop on the laptop to post in there!" and then... forgetting to do that. Sorry!
Vulpina's pistol is already in her hand from having just loaded a shot into it; with that in mind, she takes the opportunity to fire--
Dragon Pistol: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
BP Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Is she close enough to 5-foot step up to an attacker? If so, I'll roll a second attack and you can remove 2 from the attack roll above. I can't see the map still, so I'm... doing my best :D
Wakizashi Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Ideally, she'll prioritize firing upon any target within 10 feet, and if she can't manage that, then any target not currently engaged in melee.
As for her wakizashi, it's just "whoever she can reach," really.

miteke |

I'll say you shot the one out of the air that missed Lupe, but you are not withing stepping distance of Lupe and the one on his back, who are in the middle of the room while you are back at the door. I've adjusted icons. If you can shoot one you can get in another attack, otherwise you need to move closer. The extra attack has to be the melee attack, right?

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Extra attack has to be melee, yup! So yeah, if I’m not in melee range I’ll move into melee range instead. Do you want me to roll Parry and Riposte whenever I think I might need it, or do you mind rolling it? (I ask because I’d want to do so for this combat.)

miteke |

I prefer to have you roll your own attacks but it is a pain to post it every time it might be needed and a pain to have to respond when it is needed. So how about you post a parry and riposte and the next time it is needed in a combat it will be used and you will not have to post it again for that combat unless it is used. I moved your icon into the room.

It's AC is pathetic while attached and it only has a few HP. Finish it off!

miteke |

Casper rushes in and smacks the thing and it flattens up against Lupe's armor in a bloody smear. You are surprised at how much blood there is until you realize that most of it came from Lupe who is definitively feeling the loss.
Once the dust settles (and yes there is moldy dust flying around), you may search the room at your leisure. You find a small fortune in feces covered coins and a fine silver bowl that something peed in, and the magical item turns out to be a small platinum array of chimes (spellcraft roll to identify and get the command word please) which seems relatively clean compared with everything else. Probably because they are hanging out of reach of the crap on the ground and under a beam that protects it form the aerial bombardment from above.
Should anyone have the bright idea of climbing up and searching the nests, you will get nasty splinters and an extra layer of filth for your efforts.

Sarona |

Sarona examines the enchanted chimes, fighting the feeling of nausea and revulsion assaulting her senses.
Spellcraft?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 :(

Lupe Fiasco |

Lupe and Wolf are going try and free Lupe.
Bastard Sword Attack (S) 19-20: 1d20 + 0 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 0 + 3 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Bite (BSP): 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

miteke |

I guess Lupe needs some anger management counselling. Maybe he's developed a *thing* concerning stirges. Hey Lupe, there are three more dead ones you can beat on too :)
Seriously, though, I am one of those players that tend to get things confused all the time, particularly when dealing with word pictures, so I empathize.
Could those of you that lost Con put it in your spoiler?

Lady Vulpina of Katapesh |

Vulpina sighs as she loads some pellets into her pistol.
"Well, to be completely honest, enormous mosquitoes were less bad than I was expecting," she states, "though they are plenty horrid."

Lupe Fiasco |

"Says you. A stiff breeze could knock me over. Just kidding. Though I don't feel great I can sleep it off."

Sarona |

Lupe Fiasco |

Lupe and his brother move up toward the center area and peek in.

Lupe Fiasco |

Lupe will cast detect magic and have Wolf sniff around for anything living that is not a plant.

Lupe Fiasco |

Nature Max 10: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Lupe Fiasco |

If the group is ok with it Lupe will start to carve away at the plants.
