Jevar Shadowmantle |

Sorry, Jevar got overly curious there with all of the questions. It seemed like an opportunity.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Can I get an order of the targets for that chain lightning, Jevar?

Jevar Shadowmantle |

WHITE then BLACK
so white first because Kolgradd isn't between, then it arcs from white to black.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

no worries, it was kind of buried in the die roll expression.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

To the people in the USA:
*Ahem*
VOTE!
That is all.
Done :)

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Just a request, Kolgradd: could you put that you have resistance 4 to slashing somewhere in your hotbar? Because I guarantee I've forgotten about it (for some reason I never remember that fighters get armor specialization).

Done! I think you must have asked for that in the past as I'd already added to my local copy, but I must never have updated the character (or it got reverted), sorry.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

For the record, this weekend I’ll be going to a middle-of-nowhere section of a middle-of-nowhere part in my state to visit my grandmother.

I just want to say this (Primarily aimed at the people in the USA):
“Acceptance” is knowing that “what is so, is so.”
“Resignation” is the act of giving in to something greater.
Sigh He won. No matter how you look at it, he won. We have to accept this. But we do not have to resign to this.
The next 4 years will suck. No matter how you swing it, that is the truth. We must accept it. But if we resign to it, then we are just allowing them to walk over us. We must accept that the next 4 years will suck, but we do not have to resign to the “fact” that it will suck for ONLY us!
He cannot fundamentally change how this country works. That would require an amendment. That requires EITHER: 1) supermajority (2/3) of both House and Senate, or 2) supermajority (2/3) of states request it. THEN said amendment must be ratified by ANOTHER supermajority (3/4 this time) of the states. He’s never gotten a supermajority of states.
Finally, we must not resign to having no voice. I personally live in a very red state and am going to be going with some friends to the state capitol to protest during Transgender Awareness Week.
The next 4 years will suck. But it will suck for more than just us.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Really weird day for me, mentally. I’ll get to posting tomorrow.

Shohreh Kassar |

Unlimited power!!!!
I actually only make a couple choices here, which is a skill increase (Religion to expert) and an Ancestry feat (Occult Resistance). Unarmored defense goes to expert and I get weapon specialization. And, of course, 7th-rank spells. Next level is Fast Channel!

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Also, I know I said before that I'd be giving out PFS 1e credit for doing this with me, but...do y'all even care anymore? Genuinely, I'd rather save myself the time and effort if it's not gonna be used, because I know that I, personally, am not going to be playing PFS1 again anytime soon.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

I'll finish my level-up tomorrow, but... rank 7 teleport! Weewoo!

Nah, I'm good.

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Sorry I'm being slow levelling up, it's been a busy week for me and I have an all-day Season of Ghosts session to run tomorrow. I'll aim to have it done this weekend.
Legendary weapons though, woop!

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Ancestry 13: Advanced General Training (Swift Sneak)
Rank 7 spells: Eclipse Burst, Energy Aegis
Probably need to go back through his plot items and see if there are any rank 7 spells to transcribe from them.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

NOTE Jevar is preparing a slot of Dispel Magic at rank 5 that should be more capable for the counterspell reaction.

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

I'm perfectly happy to not receive PF1 credit thanks.
I've levelled up:
Ancestry Feat: Mountain's Stoutness (more HP!)
Skill Increase: Arcana to Expert so he can qualify for Expert Spellcasting
Weapon Legend: Sticking with hammers
I also adjusted his sheet to reflect picking up a Greater Resilient rune, and then realised they're probably too rare for Okeno, so maybe w can stop in somewhere for one? If not I just need to drop one from the saves

Boodiddly |

Boodiddly is leveled up!
- Fortuitous Shift drops the flat check for Unexpected Shift to DC 11 and removes being dazzled on a success
- Master proficiency in Occultism - now we could do that commune ritual if we wanted XD
- New spells retrocognition (signature) and true target

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Hero Points reset in 6 days
Alright, so here's where my assumption lies: I am kinda assuming that y'all will use a 7th-rank teleport to go back to Katheer to do some shopping (since it's a level 18 settlement), then get passage on a ship in Katheer to the location that Lowls went to in Casmaron.
The problem with that is primarily that that would leave Kisetz and Hakoor stranded in Okeno, since teleport only allows for 5 people at a time (the caster and up to 4 other targets).
So what would y'all like to do?

Shohreh Kassar |

Well, Jevar could prep it twice. He takes them out, then comes back. Next day, we teleport ourselves out. Adds an extra day but it's still faster than any other option that's available to us, and keeps the party together.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

With drain familiar he can actually cast it three times in one day, so in 30m (10m casting time) we could all be in one place.
Jevar could probably use a little shopping as well, and a very short period to transcribe spells in case he buys any new scrolls (all available, as always, to Kolgradd if he'd like to increase his own spellbook).

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

The difficulty is the "off-target" stuff with teleport, which means that you'll appear roughly...6-ish miles (if memory serves) with each casting. I'm pretty willing to handwave it, since that's kinda nothing for a level 13 group to navigate, but it's still something.
So folks should probably be thinking about what they want to purchase in Katheer. I don't really need y'all to go through the inventory sheet this time around, since there was...basically nothing besides Biting Lash's bribe that gave y'all money.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Dunno if there's anything I can do other than keep her comfortable, but me and my +26 Medicine will try our best! Does cleanse affliction work? That would be nice.
Unfortunately, the mental deterioration is part of Kaklakath’s natural state as, y’know, an old woman, so the magic can’t really help any more than, say, sound body could cure the blindness of a person who has no eyes anymore.

Shohreh Kassar |

Didn't think so, was just remembering stuff from 1e where one of the devs said remove disease should work on things like that. But the game just doesn't really account for that, so even then it was a bit iffy.

Shohreh Kassar |

Shopping!
I have 4,321gp (and 9sp but it's irrelevant here).
Upgrading my library robes to their greater variant is 1,300gp.
Upgrading the fundamental runes on my starknife from +1 striking to +2 greater striking for 1,900, and adding an astral rune for another 450.
Upgrading my healer's gloves to their greater variant is 620gp.
Leaves me with 51gp left over.

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Kolgradd is just going to get the greater resilient rune (and look at Jevar with puppy dog eyes to get it etched onto his armour).

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Jevar is also buying a greater resilient rune and so needs to do the same.
Kolgradd: Swap resilient rune for greater resilient rune (level 14), (DC32 Crafting, master): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (9) + 25 = 34
Jevar: Swap resilient rune for greater resilient rune (level 14), (DC32 Crafting, master): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29
Jevar take 2: Swap resilient rune for greater resilient rune (level 14), (DC32 Crafting, master): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (1) + 25 = 26
Well damn, it costs more for him now
Jevar take 3: Swap resilient rune for greater resilient rune (level 14), (DC32 Crafting, master): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45
Also:
You craft flawless creations with great efficiency. Whenever you roll a success at a Crafting check to make an item of the type you chose with Specialty Crafting, you get a critical success instead.
Other party members: less us know if someone wants either of the resilient runes instead of them being sold on runestones.
Transferring Runes shows cost as 10%, so for each of these it's 344gp.
The DC of the Crafting check to transfer a rune is determined by the item level of the rune being transferred, and the Price of the transfer is 10% of the rune's Price, unless transferring from a runestone, which is free. If you're swapping, use the higher level and higher Price between the two runes to determine these values. It takes 1 day (instead of the 4 days usually needed to Craft) to transfer a rune or swap a pair of runes, and you can continue to work over additional days to get a discount, as usual with Craft.
If we sell the old runes outright:
344gp swapping cost minus 170gp resilient rune sale (half price) = 174gp cost to apply greater resilient (extra for Jevar due to the one crit fail)

Kolgradd is just going to get the greater resilient rune (and look at Jevar with puppy dog eyes to get it etched onto his armour).
You could just directly upgrade it for 3100 gp and not have to worry about the rune transferal.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Ah nice. Didn't recall that runes could just be upgraded.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Just realized going to leather armor was a mistake as his unarmored proficiency goes up so that it wins out. So Jevar's costs are full for resilient and a small transfer cost for the potency rune (to some explorer's clothes). That's all he's getting for now.

Hero Points have (technically) reset
I'll advance the narrative at some point today, once I get the motivation to do so.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Sigh, I posted something about the travel time, but I stupidly posted it in THE WRONG CAMPAIGN! My bad, haha.
I'm also gonna arbitrarily say that the ship travel from Katheer to where the map goes takes about 2 weeks (because the adventure frustratingly doesn't tell me), so if there's anything y'all want to do or can do on the way there, then there you go.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

The last time I did this, I presumed that breaking down the item left Jevar with the materials to put it back together (ableit with crafting checks). The rules are very unclear if this is in fact the case or if the result is just the formula. Happy for it to just be that, shrug, this post is already too involved.
The rules are actually hidden here. Reverse-engineering leaves you with raw materials equal to half the item's Price.
GM Can I utilize Shohreh as a source to learn a spell for spells that are both arcane and divine?
I suppose the same question could be asked about spells from Boodiddly's repertoire, which happen to be both Arcane and Occult.
I’d allow it.
IF Jevar succeeds, he will pay the remaining costs from the basidirond spores obtained long ago from the mushroom witch.
Inventory Updated

GM Can I utilize Shohreh as a source to learn a spell for spells that are both arcane and divine?
I love this.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Ty! GM let me know if any of Jevar's craft checks fail for the alchemicals. Otherwise I'll post details of the rest of the voyage, spoilered to not clutter up the flow of combat.

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

I also love that idea!
Note that I copied Kolgradd's old statblock from before he had the Grimoire for the Greater Endless Grimoire and so lost the extra 3rd level spell, I've added a preparation of Blazing Dive, I hope that's OK

Apologies for the delay, yesterday was more hectic than usual.
After being separated most of their lives by tragedy, having barely more than a day to celebrate the reunion with her sister strikes Shohreh as a strange kind of cruelty. But she truly is needed elsewhere, so she spends the time she has with Kisetz as best she can before setting sail once again.
The day before their ship is due to drop them off, Shohreh uses a sending for one more (and hopefully not final) message: "Our ship nears its destination. I will be quiet some time as we travel overland, but know that I love you, sister, and will return."
Yeah, sorry about just railroading y'all and depriving Shohreh of that character moment, but I just...I really really don't like the Okeno section of this AP and wanted to get through it ASAP.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Okay, I'm really late now because I just started a new job and today happened to also be the office Christmas party.
I was planning on NOT going because spoons, then a friend of mine convinced me to anyway because "office politics, you'll set yourself apart to the managers" etc. etc.
Anyways, I'm REALLY glad I listened, because I ended up getting a set of wireless headphones as a raffle prize as well as a $200 Christmas bonus handed to me in an envelope with my name on it! When I haven't even been an employee for 24 hours, haha.

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Congratulations on the new job, and on the headphones!

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Interrogation is a good idea, but did we hear it speak and was it in common. Otherwise... who knows jotun?
Kolgradd does

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Yeah, go spend time with your families, guys; I don’t really expect much posting before the 26th.
Happy holidays!

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Have we recovered spell slots and such or is this still part of a very long day (I think it is)?
It's been, like, 5 days since the previous combat.
Also, I will say that the chromatic wall as a "pre-buff" would qualify as "too cowardly"
Also, pretty sure the poison doesn't work well as a pre-buff, since the poison only lasts for a round (though not the effects that the poison would cause upon injuring a creature).

Jevar Shadowmantle |

I've also got permanent versions of the poisons to be applied to weapons.
