I think after this game I want to rebuild Hannah out of Monk.
Every way I look at it, Monks are just as multiability dependant as they were in 1st Edition. You need Str for attack and damage, Dex for AC, Con for HP, Int for skills, Wis for whatever the errata says you need Wisdom for, which leaves you an unsociable oaf at 10 Cha.
I never built a Monk in 1st Edition for the same reason.
Right now I'm considering Champion of Irori, to keep her overall theme in line with how I imagine her, and using this scenario to reflavor her Background to Emissary.

Purchasing question.
Am I allowed to purchase direct upgrades to weapons? Like, can I make my +1 weapon into +1 striking by just paying the difference between the two (65g)?
I've seen a lot of arguing over this on the rules forums about how doing that requires crafting and the only way to do it without crafting is sell the item for half and purchase the upgraded one or somehow have a friend do the crafting for you.

I thought with the rules that we needed to be lvl 4 to buy a lvl 4 item not on chronicle. Am I wrong ?

I thought with the rules that we needed to be lvl 4 to buy a lvl 4 item not on chronicle. Am I wrong ?
Ugh, I found some different statements in the guide about that but it appears I was looking at the Player's Basics section instead of the Organized Play Basics section. Their online guide is terrible to navigate!
The block below appears to be how we are supposed to manage purchases in Organized Play.
Purchasing Guidelines
You can always purchase the following items so long as you’re in a settlement of at least 5,000 residents (and scenarios may sometimes provide additional allowances or limitations):
Any common equipment in sanctioned Pathfinder content with an item level equal to or less than your character’s level (minimum 2).
Any uncommon equipment in sanctioned Pathfinder content with an item level equal to or less than your character’s level (minimum 2); your character must have access to this uncommon equipment such as through meeting its Access condition.
Any equipment listed on your character’s Chronicle sheets with an item level equal to or less than your character’s level + 2. Some items found on Chronicle sheets are available for purchase only a limited number of times.
Any items and services purchased with Fame.
________________________________________________
TLDR: Yes, Dran-Thor is correct. My question still stands though for when I reach lvl 4.

![]() |

Fortunately the +1 Striking Shortsword is listed on our latest chronicle, so once your question is answered you can go ahead and purchase :)

![]() |

So, Mara, you think we can buy any weapon +1 striking because we have got the +1 striking Shortsword on the chronicle?
I thought it had to be the right weapon to be valuable. I'm interested in the conversation because I'm also thinking about buying a +1 striking Battle axe.

![]() |

Sorry, that was poorly-written on my part. All I was saying was that Bair could purchase a +1 Striking Shortsword if he wanted. I don't think the chronicle grants access to any other type of weapon...although I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

![]() |

Ah so it is as I thought it goes. A +1 Striking Shortsword won't help me. So I will wait until the end of the next game to buy the +1 Striking Battle axe.
The table on page 582 of the rules book gives the upgrade prices. So it should be possible to simply upgrade.

![]() |

Bair also wishes to upgrade his greatclub, not to purchase the shortsword. The shortsword was a better weapon at the time, but not better than a striking greatclub would be.
____________________________
That table says cost and process though, including what level of crafting check is required for the process. Bair doesn't have crafting trained. The main question is more about whether it costs extra money or time (or if it is even allowed) to have someone else upgrade his weapon for him.

![]() |

I've been involved in almost every one of those threads, so obviously I'm biased, but I believe the word "process" that everyone focuses on means "steps you take to upgrade your item", not "you specifically need to craft this yourself".
There are like 4 lengthy threads about that specific question, tho, so obviously there's strong opinions on both sides.
The really silly extrapolation of that argument is that every time you step into a bar it takes your bartender 4 days to pour you a drink.

![]() |

Yeah, I saw those strong opinions out there and didn’t want to assume anything and be beat down. I personally also think that simply paying the difference makes the most sense (once one can legally purchase the thing). Thanks!

Alright - chronicles have been sent out :-)
Please download them at your earliest convenience, as I will be deleting them when I upload the next set of chronicles (which will, most likely, be a couple of weeks away, but is always good to be prepared!).
Additionally, please re-post your reporting details for the next scenario, especially since we get Thorax back ;-)

I didn’t actually realize it wasn’t. It wasn’t listed as being not legal on the guide to organized play. I’m guessing there’s an faq I missed?
Mostly it’s because this group doesn’t have a cleric. With no access to divine healing we’ve had to get creative. Other groups probably rely on it a lot less.

![]() |

@Mara: It isn't currently legal, because at present, the only legal resources for PFS2 are the Core Rule Book, and the Bestiary.
Presumably, when they get around to adding the Lost Omens World Guide to 'Additional Resources' (aka 'Character Options' in the new online guide), we will know one way or the other whether 'Godless Healing' makes the cut (although I don't see why it wouldn't).
Re: This group not having a Cleric, that is technically true, but both Dran'Thor and Deshacerla have Heal, so there is some healing kicking around...

![]() |

Yeah, we have quite a bit of healing actually. Bair (now) is the only one without any method of healing (other than potions).

![]() |

Quickdraw/Strike, Strike; Looking over the Encounter Mode section of the CRB, I don't see that creatures are Flat-footed before they act, like they were in PF1 and are in Starfinder. Anyone know otherwise?
I took a look into this and have come to the same conclusion.
However, the stealth skill allows you to gain a flat foot condition from hiding or sneaking.
If you Strike someone after successfully Hiding or Sneaking, though, they’re flat-footed to that Strike.
I would think if you are avoiding notice in exploration mode and your stealth is better than the opponent's perception during initiative you would be able to sneak up on your turn and get in a Strike vs. FF. A decent chunk of work obviously, but for those of us who tend to avoid notice a lot in exploration mode it would be an additional benefit. The main benefit (iirc) being the ability to use Stealth as our Initiative roll.

![]() |

Thorax, I'll happily step away when my turn comes up. Be ready for your scuttle. :-P

Page 460: Under Heroic Recovery, replace the first sentence with the following to align with other places in the text that discuss spending Hero Points. “If you have at least 1 Hero Point (page 467), you can spend all of your remaining Hero Points at the start of your turn or when your dying value would increase. You lose the dying condition entirely and stabilize with 0 Hit Points. You don’t gain the wounded condition or increase its value from losing the dying condition in this way, but if you already had that condition, you don’t lose it or decrease its value.”
Based on this passage from the errata, I think Adalan would remain unconscious after spending his Hero Point to stabilize, and he also wouldn't gain the wounded condition after stabilizing.
