I think the biggest problem with this encounter, is the Hardness :-/
Once it 'cracks', things go down-hill for the constructs rather quickly ;-)

It happens, bad RNG is bad. I think we've had a chunk of crits this game too, it's just been crazy overall.
So, we are playing High Tier with 4 player adjustment, right? That would explain some of the damages and such.

The 4d8+12 was a Crit, although with +16 to-hit that damage is likely to happen again.
Yes, you are playing high tier; the challenge point system is a little bonkers, I am afraid...
...personally, I think the power jump from Tier 1-2 to Tier 3-4 is not consistent between scenarios; this one is a particularly egregious example of erring on the side of more difficulty (although if multiple PCs were tossing around, for example, a lot of fire, that could potentially result in quite a different outcome).

Let's talk tactics. Is everyone fine with luring it away from Bair, then having Deshacerla or Dran'Thor rushing in to heal him?
This thing probably has AoOs like the previous ones.
Only the creatures in the first encounter (that looked like Fighters) had AoOs.
In the second one, the creatures had a reaction that allowed them to move closer when someone retreated from them.
*cough* I may have deliberately put it next to Bair, so that when/if he wakes up, he can attack it more easily ;-)

But the Chronicles say that it can be applied to any Character lvl 1 to 5 who hasn’t got it yet.
Maybe that is referring to not being able to apply a GM chronicle and a player Chronicle to the same PC?
