on map 2 and 3 most of party on slide 3, I assumed that Haldyr was leading Slide 2 is directly north of Slide 3, it's difficult terrain off the path

After a few hours of walking in the hills, the party spots three orcs hiding poorly in the rocks off the path. The buzzard is now circling overhead of the group. A slight breeze flows across the path.

Well, I did make the character to put the Arcane Spell Failure rules to a test so I can't say I didn't see it coming!

The swing comes clean between the orc's eyes. A skull crushing noise is heard.

Arty was surprised at the quick and effective assault by his new friends. ” I guess I need to be more prepared. You lot are quick on the draw,” he says with a grin. He moves to search the area where the three were located, hoping to fin a clue to the whereabouts of the missing Person they sought.

Singol slows and stops to meet the orcs' charge. One orc drops, then another. He looks around for more orcs, before investigating the bodies.

"Whoa, dudes. That went fast."

sure that's fine.

The orcs have studded leather, large wooden shields and scimitars, searching the bodies you find 15 gp on all three. Plus a potion of Jump. In addition you find what looks like a "small" sized shirt in one of the orcs backpacks.

Survival DC 15:
The tracks of the orcs continue along the path. The "small" sized footprints aren't visible at this point

The path continues, as you continue up into the hills. It gets later in the afternoon. The normal sounds of birds and animals grows dim. The sun starts to descend on the horizon.

Survival DC 16:
you pick up the tracks again of the halflings. they head to the cabin

Search DC 16:
the area off the path about a half a mile from the fight looks like it's been trampled down a bit

Mirianna tries to help looking around to no avail, then nods and starts heading towards the cabin. "This seems the time to hasten our pace, no? He must be held in that cabin then."

If we reach the cabin without incident:

Mirianna attempts again to draw on her magic just before reaching the cabin door, making the movements to cast shield.

Arty basically breaks into a run, worried about the Halfling. ”Faster, faster, the little guy needs us! Maybe it’s not too late,” he whispers, urging the group forward.

Singol stops when he sees the cabin. A quick look around shows nothing unusual so he advances to the cabin. If he gets there without incident, Singol will press himself against the outside wall, preferably near a window.

Duraz approaches the cabin with the others. His protective magic is fading and he holds his shield tightly. He tries searching with the others.

As they come about half a mile from the fight, he says "Look, this area off the path looks like it's been trampled down a bit."

Singol moves up and sees there's three orcs inside the cabin. They don't appear to notice him.

Hearing the orcish tongue brings back unpleasant memories to Duraz. Still, he hardens his face and says in a low voice "They have the halfling and plan to eat him."

Is my Shield of Faith still up? I cast it at the road and it lasts 2 minutes.

Duraz, knowing a fight is inevitable, begins chanting a spell to increase his size.

Artival storms up to the door once he was told what was happening in the cabin. He waits for bids from the group, but once given, he tries to kick the door down.

Singol holds up three fingers, then points towards the cabin.

If Singol can fit through the window, he will try to enter the cabin that way after Artival kicks the door down. Otherwise he'll throw a dagger through the window (if open), then join the rush through the doorway.

Singols roars in pain and anger, then attempts to stab the closest orc, whether up or down.

The orc's scimitar slashes past Singol's parry, slicing deep into the halfling. Singol wobbles and bobbles, barely remaining on his feet. All he can do is defend.

"Pick on someone your own size! Or...where did the giant come from?!"

The party hears quiet before the muffled sounds of mumbling come from the bedroom.

You look under the bed and see a young halfling tied up with a gag in his mouth. His eyes have a frightened look in them and he shakes his head in a "no" fashion as he looks at the party armed with weapons.

Duraz, enjoying his new enlarged state, doesn't let go of his weapon and says to the halfling "We came for you, little man." After he enjoys seeing the halfling tremble in fear, he adds "To rescue you, not kill you. Silly!", and he unbinds the halfling. "Your grandma sent us"

Singol moves slowly to the bedroom. When he sees the halfling, he kneels on the floor.

"We came to rescue you. Your grandma sent us."
