I'm not sure on the action sequence - can't I both get the Flight spell, and then the Dimension Door?

Also Variel, if I get Flight, do I have enough movement to reach those attacking the doors?

Sorry, Baub: Helgash is in the courtyard because I didn't want to assume you had more teleportation available when I botted him.

Cynehelm shakes his head, "Unfortunately, even an acolyte of the Dawnflower runs out of fireballs, Baub. My next-best option requires a more - intimate - approach. I would travel with you if you can take me. Miss Frostborn, have you fire remaining? Baub, if you can get me within 15' of the door, that would be very helpful."

Duardlara replies, "As a matter of fact, I do, but then I cannot cast the flight on Greta. I will come with you - after one more fireball. Jetro's not in any danger, right?"

Assuming Jetro won't be included in the blast, Duardlara centers a fireball where she believes the door to be, then links hands with the others.

Reflex DC 18 half: 9d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1, 4, 1, 5, 1, 2) + 1 = 30

Depending on where we land, Cynehelm will be using an intensified burning hands on the door this round or next.

As an afterthought, Duardlara says, "Someone should work on keeping that spellcaster busy. They probably have put protective magic on the warriors, too. Our work is never done."

who is the dude off to my right? Looking at the tower we are on, I’m standing next to a lady (assume Greta) and there is a fellow 15’ to the right. The only one in the courtyard I saw was Jetro. Baub and Lara are about 30-40’ apart so i don’t see how you can do both, at least not in one round. I have a ton of temp HPs so I’m going in after the bomb drops of course.

My error on Helgash, I failed to update the map. On the other, I'm not sure what both things you are referring to. Duardlara should be able to drop a fireball and move to your location. Cynehelm will move to your location and, depending on placement after the teleport, cast a spell after arrival. All depending on your capacity - if you can't take everyone, leave Duardlara on the tower. The fly spell would have to be at a later round if she's casting fireball, as she stated in the post.


Well, if no Fly is cast on Greta, then both she and Helgash will be happy with the Dimension Door :D Is that the case?

"Close it in, I can take three others!" Baub calls out and ports as soon as three others get to him (he will land just south-east of the fog as close to the door as he can see).

Duardlara ushers Cynehelm to join the others as she casts her fireball and hustles to the stairs.

I have retconned the move I made for Helgash when I botted him, placing him adjacent to Baub on the tower. I have likewise moved Cynehelm to Baub's reach for DD.

As he reaches the other three, Cynehelm says, "Before you rush in, allow me to introduce us as a Sarenite should to a foe."

When they hit the ground, he will turn to orient himself to face the door and cast an intensified burning hands. He's used his move action, so he cannot approach close than Baub's placement.

Burning Hands, Reflex DC 16 half, fire damage: 10d4 + 20 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3, 3, 2, 3, 4, 4, 1) + 20 = 47


Correct on the obscuring mist being personal but she has a trick up her sleeve (or shirt in this case)

Duarldara casts fireball hitting the 2 barbarians again

first takes nothing from fire resistance while the second takes 10

Baub then teleports Greta, Helgash, Cynehelm and himself to the thick of the fighting where Cynehelm readied a burning hands to add to the damage that they were doing at range.

Both of the barbarians fail and drop to the ground unconscious and aflame. However you can now see another set that was waiting on the other side of the gatehouse! These do not look like they have adamantine weapons though.

what about the barbarian I cursed? He would be at -4 to all of his saves. Not that it apparently matters.

Baub steps out of the fog and hits the caster with an empowered boneshaker spell using metamagic adept. "Let's see if we can make you dance my dear lady."

Bloodline Arcana raised DC by 1. If she makes the save she takes half damage. If she fails she takes full damage and I can move her 5'.


One minute Baub as you teleported them in so we still have Greta and Helgash, Manos and Jetro to go before we get back to you.

Guys, help me out here - it seems only Greta is wounded now? (Below MAX HP-5, that is) She will heal 5, let me know if anyone else is wounded. If yes, Helgash may use a Swift LoH before attacking.

"You would do well to surrender" - Helgash nods at the woman caster, weapon firmly in hand - "You will not be given such option by anyone else here"

He will ready an attack if she attempts to move or cast. If I cannot ready for those two actions, I will go with a 'ready to attack if she moves' (let me see her 5' step away from Greta :P)

I thought we topped everyone off after the siege tower/wyvern battle, so that might be correct, regarding injuries.

Using two hasted double moves, I think Manos would have had 48 squares of movement available. By my calculation, it would take him 28 to reach the door at the base of the tower, so he would have had another twenty squares of movement once he reached the bottom of the tower. You should be in the mix next round if you wish. I think the haste runs our after this round, though.

I'm not sure if Jetro has a different plan, but if he wants to close to shooting distance from the new barbarians and the spellcaster, a second round of haste should allow him to have a sight line past the north side of the fog by now. I think he might have missed a round of movement.

Sorry I had to look up some rules and stats Helgash. It seems that even with a reach weapon I can still claim cover from your readied action. As such Helgash just missed the sorceress. If you find a rule contrary please let me know as then you would drop her and thus no lightning bolt.


Hmmm, but why cover? I had a clear attack line at her when I declared my readied action. She was 2 squares north of me. The action takes place as she leaves that square, so no cover, right?


Sounds good I thought Greta was in the way. The sorceress steps back and takes a brutal blow killing her before the lightning bolt goes off!

Duardlara double-moves across the courtyard, hearing Helgash's challenge and a gurgling scream cut short. Someday, one of those is going to listen to him and he's not going to know what to do...

I believe haste has expired, so I moved her normal movement speed. If that's incorrect, she's gone one move and will be close enough to target barbarians next round - either way, the obscuring mist prevents her from doing anything useful this round.

Manos moves closer and takes a shot at the barbarians assaulting Greta. However his aim is off and the shot goes wide. It is a solid blow but the barbarian remains there taunting her.

Baub moves to the west to get a better view of the barbarians and then points at the southern barbarian sending a ray of pale blue at the man. (Ray of enfeeblement DC 19)

Cynehelm manages to hit the barbarian with 2 of the 3 rays causing the barbarian to heave with pain even though no outward sign appears that he is injured. Baub. Tries to target one with a ray as well but the ray veers off just enough as to,harmlessly pass overhead.

The barbarians then set upon Greta in earnest for delaying their ability to enter the fortress.

To state the rest of her action, Duardlara casts detect magic on the attackers and their fallen allies, particularly on the spellcaster that Helgash cut down.

On her next round, she will probably move closer to inspect anything that yields interesting results.


One of barbarians falls from a barrage of magic, arrows and body blows. The other remains in good fighting form still able to take on Greta.

Which Barbarian is still up? There is one upside down so I assume he is the one who toppled. If so...

Manos uses his increased speed from his boots of springing and covers the distance between him and the barbarian facing Greta. He rolls past the barbarian coming to his feet to try and run the man through.

Beck I would go with the +1 to int for Sheelah. Add a headband of int and you can get away with most handle animal checks as its is now like a magical beast for intelligence and can follow verbal instructions.

Hey Variel, as I leveled up I was wondering - when I built this character I wasn't too experienced with the Life Link mechanics, and how it would work on group healing etc.

Would you allow me to make some changes on my character regarding the initial build? I was planning on:

- Swapping my Con with Dex (ending up with Con14 and Dex12);
- Or perhaps drop Combat Reflexes and take Toughness;
- Or both :D

What do you think? Would any of these be acceptable?

With both changes, Helgash would of course not have as many AoOs (dropping from 3 to 1), but his hp would raise from 30 to 38. I think it would make me perhaps more useful - on the one hand the cushion for Life Link would be better, and I would also have more hp to wade into the first line - I think we may need another of us to take up that position more often that not.

What about the rest of the guys? What do you think?

Yeah, Helgash that is ok as I gave the others a chance to manipulate their characters a bit after a level of playing to get the right feel. From here on though you are stuck with what you choose.

I lost a relative recently. I'll be driving to her funeral and I will very likely not be able to game for Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday.

I realize our GM ends up botting both Pakak and Xanxan half the time anyway as I've been terrible at getting in timely posts, but i thought I should give a headsup

I do try to keep the posts up every night once my girls are in bed just this week has been bad as my youngest has had a 102.5 temp for a couple days now and the doctors aren't sure what it is. Pneumonia, pertussis, ear infection are all possibilities still after 4 days of antibiotics.

How did Nalfeshnekor go for you? Some groups have no problem others its almost a tpk if they don't keep the right equipment.

Well, Malfeshnikor or whatever his name is would have been a tpk if the oracle of life had failed his save vs charm and started healing the barghest instead of the party. They had some difficulty with him, but they prevailed in the end... it was a pretty awesome fight though.


The first time I ran the mod no one had any magic weapons to use on him. Made for a very long drawn out fight with 4 of the 6 unconscious.

When Jetro mentioned he would be leaving I had someone contact me about joining and replacing Jetro. I worked with them to create the beginnings of an arcane trickster. They PM'd Xanxan to make sure there there so o problems with 2 rogues.

The question I have then is do you believe that thereis enough front line firepower with Beck, Sheelah and Helgash with two rogues on the flank that I could leave and have the arcane trickster replace me?

If not then I would stay and be the silent muscle. The encounters would not change too much and I can handle the conversion.

I just hate stringing someone along.

I think we can deal with that. If xan and the New Guy are down, they could really benefit from a few teamwork feats like paired opportunist and a few others. Nimble moves like what Sheelah has so they can take 5' steps over difficult terrain to get flanks more easily.

The scroll was animate object, th ring was ring of protection +1 and the cauldron was a cauldron of overwhelming allies. 1/day by casting a summoning spell you summon d3 creatures of 1 spell level lower than what you cast.

Ex. Summon monster 3 to summon d3 ice elementals (which is a summon monster 2 creature) would generate another d3 ice elementals. Cost is 4500gp

The scroll of animate object was going to be used on an ice statue should Radosek ever have escaped. Primarily the ice dragon sculpture in the courtyard. Stupid web spell...
