Duardlara Frostborn |

Now that Baub and Greta are on the tower, can they tell what the purpose is in putting it against the wall? Are there soldiers within the tower that will pour over the wall once it is in position? Something else?
"Thank you, Helgash. I have more fire available, but I can do little with this draconic cousin atop me."

DM Variel |

Indeed the purpose of the tower is quite apparent as Greta opens the hatch in the top of the tower to reveal the inside filled with warriors climbing the interior to get to the fortress! There looks to be almost 30 warriors within with the potential for more to,come through once a secure landing has been made.
Yes Greta can attack the one before her.

That's why I was asking for a pot of oil so I could dimension door with it. Then the drakes crashed my party.
Baub stays focused on trying to get the hydra to stop. He first steps to the edge of the tower (5' step?) and sends his spectral hand darting at the creature seeming to be the worst for wear.
Empowered Vampiric Touch using Metamagic Adept so it only takes me a standard action.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Critical confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Vampiric Touch empowered: 7d6 + 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 3) + (2) + 15 = 40
critical dmg addition: 7d6 + 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 3, 1, 6, 2) + (1) + 15 = 39

Duardlara Frostborn |

Well, you have seen Duardlara cast fireballs, also. They aren't as overwhelming as Cynehelm's, but the soldiers in the tower might not care.

Greta Silvermane |

With a growl, Greta swings at the first one coming across her path - "Back fools!"
We are still hasted, right?
Greatsword +1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33

I can take it down to -10. Did I get all 79 temp hit points or did he give me less?

Jetro Clampett |

Jetro opens fire on the hydra with his bow

Duardlara Frostborn |

Duardlara moves toward the tower, stopping short of the difficult terrain, and casts another spell at the drake attacking Cynehelm and Helgash.

Duardlara Frostborn |

I didn't realize I owed you posts. I will bot Cynehelm when I get to my machine where I have his character sheet copied.

DM Variel |

Jetro and Manos tag team to attack the last war hydra that is severely burned and broken. The combined fire power slays the last hydra causing the siege tower to slightly roll back away from the wall of the fortress! Unfortunately Greta is still at the opening attacking a horde of barbarians.
Duardlara attacks the drake with a pair of scorching rays both hitting and doing significant damage tot eh fire susceptible creature.
With the tower sloping slowly backwards the drake attacks Cynehelm one last time being fleeing away himself unless the cleric can take care of matters himself quickly.

![]() |

When the moment presents itself Baub will take Greta back with him to the wall via dimension door.

Duardlara Frostborn |

Apologies.
Cynehelm takes another 5' down the stairs away from the drake, raising his shield and going into total defense while his allies attack the creature.

Helgash |

Cynehelm, Baub and Greta heal 5 (Helgash takes 15 hp damage) - anyone else wounded? Cynehelm (Lara) remember you have Shield Other running ;)
Stepping defensively next to Cynehelm, Helgash attacks with preternatural speed - "Avast monstrosity! You will find only death here!" - a golden hue healing wounds.
Swift LoH - attacking the drake which came down to engage Cynehelm.

HP Math = 77 - 15 + 21 = 83

Greta Silvermane |

Variel, can Greta attack after the Dimension Door? If yes:
"Surprise!" - the fierce woman roars at the drake, flanking it with Helgash (I think :D)
Greatsword +1: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 17 + 2 = 25

Duardlara Frostborn |

”Were there more warriors within the tower? Another fireball cast in through the hatch should be very effective...”

DM Variel |

Duardlara considers flamignthe tower again as soon as Baub and Greta come back to the defenses. However as she considers such an action she realizes that it won’t be necessary. The tower’s slow roll back upon the death of the last hydra gains speed and begins to topple backwards carrying its passengers to their death!
You have again 2 rounds before you will be summoned to the next area if you need to heal up?

Duardlara Frostborn |

Cynehelm will channel when the gang's all together again and most definitely thank Helgash, again, for his timely healing during the combat. I didn't verify, but I don't think he's been using these, right?
Channel positive energy to heal: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 5, 5) = 24
Hoo, that's a nice roll!

![]() |

Baub casts shield on himself and then asks, "Invisibility anyone?" If someone steps up he will drop an invisibility spell on them. If not, he will go invisible instead.

Duardlara Frostborn |

"Always, but you aren't concerned about using all your spells too quickly?"
How many rounds of haste will remain in two rounds when the games presumably commence once more?

![]() |

About 3 I think. I accounted for his healing which maxed me out plus I'm still carrying 79 temp HP from the Hydra. I've also accounted for the invisibility spell. I only intend to cast one, either on me or someone else.

Duardlara Frostborn |

"Cast it on Manos if you wish. I still have some available to me today."
Duardlara will spend the two rounds - other than talking - studying the areas she can see trying to spot incoming attacks.
I presume they will be coming from another quarter, so I won't roll.

DM Variel |

Looking around you spy a set of 3+ enemies at one of the doors leading into the interior of the fortress. How they got there you are not sure. Either they flew in past the defenders or there was another siege tower that successfully breached the wall you do not know. Clearly though they need to be taken care of before they break through the door and enter. Most alarmingly you see that 1 of the barbarians is wielding an adamantine warhammer to break down the door. As soon as you notice this the snow starts falling almost obscuring your sight.
You guys are up first. The falling snow makes perception checks at -4 and affects ranged attacks as well with a -4 penalty.

Duardlara Frostborn |

Duardlara shouts, "Enemies within the walls!" and points at the door they are assaulting. She casts a spell flinging a tiny red bead at their location even as the snow starts to obscure her vision.
Fireball, Reflex DC 18 for half
Fireball damage: 9d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2, 5, 1, 2, 2, 1) + 1 = 27 Wow, I'm placing that set of d6's in the freezer right now.
She moved to the closest edge of the tower to be able to cast, so that's her turn.

Pixie Rogue |

Bot
Cynehelm hustles over from where he's checked the others' wounds and found them thankfully largely unhurt. Teasingly, he offers, "My friend Duardlara, your dabbling in the arcane arts is admirable, but you should leave the power of flame to those whose goddess gives it life."
Empowered Fireball, reflex DC 18 half: 15d6 + 30 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 5, 2, 3, 4, 1, 4, 2, 6, 2, 2, 3, 5) + 30 = 82

DM Variel |

barbarian 1

#1 success with resist energy is 0. #2 success with resist energy is 21 damage
barbarian 2
reflex 2d20 ⇒ (12, 9) = 21 +6 each
#1 success with resist energy is 0 but a fail with #2 with resist energy is 62 damage.
sorcerer
2d20 ⇒ (10, 1) = 11 +11 each
#1 success for half damage and resist energy fire 20
#2 fail but resist energy 20 is 62 damage
All of the enemies succeed in at least 1 reflex save but the are still heavily damaged but upright.

Does my spectral hand take the penalties for the snow?

![]() |

Baub casts Bestow Curse and attempts to touch the least injured of the Barbarians with his spectral hand.
If successful he calls, "I have cursed the healthy one, he likely will not be so lucky against your spells next time!"
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Bestow Curse DC 22;
-4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.
Baub hits the lightly armored assumed to be spellcaster with an empowered boneshaker.
Boneshaker: 12d6 + 24 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 2, 5, 1, 5, 3, 4, 1, 5, 6) + 24 = 68
Fortitude DC21; half if he makes it. If failed full damage and move him 5' into his companion.

Duardlara Frostborn |

If you are running, don't forget you are still under the effects of haste, if I recall correctly.
Duardlara shouts to the woman warrior, "Greta, I can give you flight!" if she wishes to delay.

![]() |

We had 3 rounds of Haste left after the two prep rounds. Should have 2 left after this round.

Duardlara Frostborn |

So tactical questions for Variel: 120' movement for most characters, probably only affected by their armor. Am I remembering correctly that it's 30' movement to climb (or descend) the tower steps? So Jetro would have 90' movement remaining at the bottom of the tower and could reach the green square on the map in a double move, if he took his full double? (Understanding that an archer could well decide to pull up sooner to fire from range.)
If the above is correct, I think Manos could not only reach the next tower, but descend to the courtyard and move another 5' if he chose.

Duardlara Frostborn |

Helgash sees his allies separating and moves down the stairs to the courtyard where he is roughly halfway between the two groups.
No new damage - did anyone have lingering damage that Helgash's life link would repair? aka, are you more than five hp below your max?
Greta growls at the arcane trickster, "Fine! What are you waiting for?" and delays for Duardlara's promised flight spell.
