"Well that didn't work..." she looks to Aggah for a suggestion, who hold up her hands and smiles. Cleo smiles back and says "Might work, let's try" So they tag team tickle the witch.
DM TreasureFox |
Brelin, you have the option to resist if you would like. Doing so will force Cleo and Aggah to make CMB checks to... tickle you. Theoretically you would also have an attack of opportunity against one of them if you so choose, but I'd be surprised if Brelin went that far.
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |
Not knowing what else to do Wabbit attacks the illusion grappling Wilhim
Flurry +5bab +4dex +1size , -2 piranha striking, +1 waveblade
attack #1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
attack #2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Just so you know we're NEVER going to let you forget about the time a haunted house with a squabbling husband and wife tricked you with illusionary animals....Cause that's what's happening NOW
DM TreasureFox |
Wabbit slices the sleeping Manticore apart. It bursts into millions of little specks before disappearing entirely. Furnok tries to pull Wilhim out of the cat's jaws. Instead of releasing Wilhim from his poor fate, Furnok ends up pulling the cat with him. Cleo, Aggah, and Wabbit suddenly appear visible to Brelin and Wilhim, although they are covered in blood. The first two run over to Brelin and begin to... tickle her! This is madness! Furthermore, Bacon the brave pig goes around the fight (dodging every attack) and aims a massive fart right in Brelin's direction.
I'm enjoying this madness.
Brelin's turn.
DM TreasureFox |
Oh shoot. Hmm let's try that again.
Wabbit darts out of the sleeping Manticore and slices deep into the firepelt cougar, but doesn't quite kill it. Furnok tries to pull Wilhim out of the cat's jaws. Instead of releasing Wilhim from his poor fate, Furnok ends up pulling the cat with him. Cleo and Aggah suddenly leap out of the Manticore while covered in blood. They two run over to Brelin and begin to... tickle her! This is madness! Furthermore, Bacon the brave pig goes around the fight (dodging every attack) and aims a massive fart right in Brelin's direction.
Brelin's turn.
Brelin |
I have no weapons so I think I don't threaten?? Anyway, I wouldn't do it, but I'll definitely resist!
Brelin looks preplexed as she tries to escape Get...off... of... me!!!
Even though her friend are obvioulsy mad, she still has to save them!
Slumber on the cat if I can
DM TreasureFox |
Cleo and Aggah tickle Brelin continuously, but fortunately Brelin doesn't have to concentrate to hex the cat. It yawns (freeing Wilhim in the process) and immediately curls up to take a cat nap. The stag and bear both try to attack Brelin, but she dodges out of the way and blocks the attacks with her mage armour. The boar can't attack Wilhim, so it just stalks around as if it were a hungry lion.
Everyone's turn.
Cleo cmb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Aggah cmb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Slumber: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Stag gore: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Cleo Gingerberry |
Tickling didn't work, so the pair try to trip up the mage, since they are very worried she'll pop out another of those flaming spheres soon and they'll all roast like marshmellows… well Cleo is worried about that, Aggah is just having fun.
trip: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
aid another trip or separate trip attempt whichever you prefer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Unfortunately neither Cleo or Aggah are any good at pushing over the tall woman, and probably end up falling down themselves.
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |
Furnok grab Brelin and get her outta here...I'll close the door behind you so the illusions stay inside
aid another vs ac10: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Wabbit tries to help Furnok get Brelin out of the house
Brelin |
Guys, this is getting dangerous, you've got to let me end this!
Brelin begins to worry for herself and tries to calm her companions
Slumber on Furnok. I'm assuming I'm grappled, right?
concentration check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
The DC is 10 + grappler’s CMB + spell level
DM TreasureFox |
Yes you can, Wilhim. I'm going to add a condition to your frightened condition that says you can hide from the creature instead of just running forever. Otherwise we might lose you unto the wilderness.
Cleo and Aggah fail to trip the tall Brelin, but she's no match against Furnok strongarming her. Instead of fighting it, Brelin tries to hex Furnok into a slumber. Though she manages to get the hex to work, Furnok manages to resist!
Wilhim leaps over the sleeping Manticore and runs out the front doors. The beasts pay him no heed, and instead try to gang up on the now grappled Brelin. Though the stag is blocked by her mage armour, the bear bites her in the shoulder. Brelin hasn't lost hope yet, for her will is very strong. Brelin takes 3 damage.
Everyone's turn.

Wabbit stabs the bear hoping to make an illusionary cloak out of its coat when this is done
Flurry +5bab +4dex +1size , -2 piranha striking, +1 waveblade
attack #1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
attack #2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Cleo Gingerberry |
Is Brelin really at 13 hit points?
DM TreasureFox |
I asked this question before we entered the mansion, and I did not receive a concrete answer. Yes, for whatever reason, Brelin is at 13hp now.
Wabbit strikes the bear with a flurry of stabs and slashes, wounding it significantly. Furnok hauls Brelin over his shoulder and starts running out of the room. The stag tries to strike Brelin with its hooves, but she blocks it with her mage armour. However, the bear bites Brelin's arm before she escapes. Brelin takes 3 damage.
When Furnok and Brelin exit the room, all the illusions fade away. Everything is as it once was, still and eerily silent.
Wilhim is no longer frightened, but he will be shaken until he leaves the grounds and at least an hour has passed.
Bear AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Stag AoO: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Brelin Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo, Aggah, and Wabbit alone in a haunted house, she turns to her cousin and her best friend. "What do you two think we should do? Keep exploring, looking for the sobbing woman upstairs, look for any stairs leading down? Anything else? Once the others recover and come back in I mean, not just us three."
Cleo Gingerberry |
"Yes" Cleo answers.
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |
Let's wait outside for the others to rejoin us.....This house is CRAZY! I'm serious, split-personalities that HATE each other INSANE! Cleo, I thought farmer Hogspittle and his wife from home were bad. Well, I was wrong. They're nothing when compared with this house.
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |

Cleo Gingerberry |
The mention of Hogspittle makes the halfling woman smile, and then chuckle even. "I had nightmares about those two, worried I'd be forced to marry someone like that troll. But his wife... she was even worse." Cleo agrees and shuffles out to where their witch is hopefully recovered.
Cleo Gingerberry |
"I agree... with Furnok. And while I'd like to agree with you Wilhim, we do not know if that sobbing was real or not. We can't burn the place down without knowing if there are victims in there."
Cleo will go over to Brelin and use her wand to heal her a bit.

clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 okay, better, thank you. 18 total Brelin
Brelin |
Brelin calms down a bit
By the stars! Those things looked amazingly real!
She thanks Cleo with a smile and studies the house
I agree, we can't burn it if we're not sure it is empty. Let's move slowly but surely, room by room
Cleo Gingerberry |
"Back in then, and upstairs." Cleo sighs and starts heading back in.
DM TreasureFox |
When Cleo enters the room again, all the animal heads have tears streaming from their eyes. The Manticore head looks like a woman, likely in her 30's, with blond hair. She weeps, and says "Why won't he love me? I don't understand. Everything was wonderful before."
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo, being Cleo wants to comfort the young woman, even if she has the body of a manticore, but she follows the advice of Furnok, steels herself and tries to move past... maybe with a just slight pat on her shoulder... just one.
Wabbit the Paladin of Chaldira |
The manticore-woman tugs at Wabbits heartstrings but his judgment has already backfired once in this house...He resolves to follow the others and keep his hands and mouth to himself
Cleo Gingerberry |
Up the stairs then?

The gentle touch of Cleo's heart rapidly melts the Manticore. As she and the other animal heads melt away, her final words are "Please free Traver from this torment... I beg you..."
The damage was real. It's one of those matrix things 'your mind makes it real'.
For the next 24 hours, Cleo can cast Calm Emotions once without using a spell slot. This is treated as a spell-like-ability.
Cleo Gingerberry |
:) Does Wilhim need healed? Cleo has the wand and will tap him with it as much as needed. you can roll and just tell me how many charges you need her to spend.
Wilhim |
Oy, cleric. He says, not even bothering to address her by name. I could use your healing touch. He tries to sound somewhat neutral but it's not hard to hear the anger in his voice having to admit that to his sworn enemy Cleo. The sworn enemy thing is a joke, don't read too much into that. So long as it's a decent number a single spell should get him up to acceptable levels.
Cleo Gingerberry |
:) no worries
Cleo manages to find ray of sunshine in rot and death, and promises the ghost "I'll do my best"
Cleo gives him an arched eyebrow to the gnome, fishes out the wand and jabs him with it.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
DM TreasureFox |
Wilhim finds no traps, but he does notice a strange series of sounds coming from the stairs. Whenever someone moves on the stairs, the floor boards creek noisily after a second or two. It sounds like someone is following them, but cannot be seen.
-------------------
The stairway rises into a hall that turns gradually to the left. There are many closed doors, most of which are single, but a few are sets of double doors. I'll have a map up later. I guess would you prefer to check a single door, or a double door?
