Guard or no guard. Rush, I believe has a +0 Climb bonus, making that a risky climb. Jack has a +4 is a bit better. However, they are both invisible, and have a better chance of being undetected, guard or no guard, if they just take 10 on the way up.

Yeah, sorry I've been absent. Work stuff.
I can swim, just not well (yet). But I can take 10 easy enough.
No problem at all, just checking!
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
What is the likelihood that I can slip in and slip a sword into Fipps guts before he realizes?
His back is to you, so pretty good. Your obstacle would be the other pirates who are looking directly at Fipps as he yells at them. Of course, some are your friends, so they may just ignore it
How about Tap walks in and leaves door open. Says hi. oops Backstab.
NEW PLAN!!
Rush! Use the wand of Nature's Ally you were given, set the called creature right in front of Fipps. Everyone will be looking at that, Jack will slip behind. for an attack.
Using the wand won't end your invisibility.
This is hilarious!
Also didn't realize that the 2nd level wand can call up 1d3 level 1 summons.
Ponies...love it. We'll need another stealth roll from whomever is attacking, then subsequent attacks. Fipps, though distracted, will get a heavily penalized perception roll agains that. If he fails, he doesnt act in the surprise round. Then, we'll go to initiative
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
ponies. wow. that'll show 'em.
I'm confused by ponies. Both hoof attacks are considered secondary attacks. What does that mean? a penalty to attack, and only half STR bonus? Also, if Fipps is evil, they get smite evil +2 dmg.
In any case Jack, they provide flank. So bonus to our to-hits.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
would jack get his invisibility bonus on this stealth roll?
Good question Tap, no one's ever summoned one in my games...I'll check.
Sure would Jack;)
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Tap, I believe that you are correct with the ponies. Just a mechanical way to make them weaker then a full sized horse is the way it's always been in my head.
Also, Rush won't be attacking from stealth. He was expecting a quiet slip and slit some throats, not this situation. So he has another plan of action once we hit initiatives.
I think we are hoping that a quick demise of Fipps will convince the regular crew who might not love us to go ahead and stand down.
Yeah stay invisible, Rush. You gonna summon up something inside the captains quarters? :)
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Nah. I'm going to send the ponies running across the deck.
Or, at least, I was going to. Now that I "say" it out loud, it sounds like a terrible idea. Draw to much attention to ourselves.
Yup, that looks right Sub - sort of goofy and hard to follow the way they lay it out, but the ponies have a secondary, so the attack bonus/penalty...and damage it seems, changes.
If they actually end up attacking anyone in this madness, that's what we'll use. Only Rush knows;) - they may end up just running around and knocking stuff over.

he he. I almost declared Tacktack my first mate.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Rush, hope you don't mind that I declared Taptap captain. Jack said he didn't mind.
Besides, once Tap enlarges his monkey TackTack and teaches him to be a mount, we will become infamous!! Just imagine the halfling captain waving a cutlass on top of his monkey up high on the mast!
Sorry to beat this one to death guys, but can you reiterate the exact instructions you gave Belliott, Sandara, and Kerruk for following you? I think they were to wait a hundred breaths, then swim to the side of the ship and only come up if the situation warranted?
Man....ponies, Fipps down, and good diplomacy rolls. This is gonna be very interesting
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
They were to count to 100 then come aboard, on deck.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Rush wouldn't want to be captain, and doesn't know the rest of you well enough to know who would be the best at it (besides not Belliot).
If the others don't come on deck soon, Rush is going to go and get them.
And oh, that diplomacy roll. Great timing for it.
Three nice diplomacy rolls!!
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Rush's call, but how's this for a plan.
Summon up 1d3 stirges into the captain's quarters. We go through. If we are lucky, they'll get an attach (e.g. grapple) in on him.
Stirge
I didn't realize that you have to have line of effect/line of 'sight' for summoning...so no casting to the other side of a wall. Well too bad that would have been easy ^_^
It's really hard to argue with overwhelming diplomacy rolls
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
so what's plan here? are we gonna knock politely, rush the door, or what? might want a ram or axes of some sort...
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
I suggest that we grab Belliot and Sandra and then rush the door before they the captain, excuse me, former captain and his cronies have time to orient themselves.
Well I'm waiting on Conchobar's disposition.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
The door may be barred, or it may not be. I suppose a door opened the obvious way is better than a door bashed down, if only because we might be in want of one later. Ha ha.
but seriously, i suppose we'd better just have someone try the handle, and then maybe belliot slam it down if its locked
Well, We should buff. Jack your potion of cat's grace. Tap his potion of strength enhancement. Tap should start singing before we open the door, he has plenty of rounds. Also Tap should use his mirror image wand.
Can Jack use wands (do you have magic device skill)? Mirror Image would be great for you too, and last minutes i.e. lots of rounds.
Plus its probably better is we fight them out here in the open, if they'd come. So probably good if we have a volunteer test the door, perhaps someone invisible? And invite them out. Or put summons behind their backs.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Rush will cast guidance on the group and then try this door while invisible. That is a plan that I can agree with.
Sounds good Rush.
Also Tap will probably want to try his new Cacophonous Call or GlitterDust spells.
Glitter dusts is a 10ft radius spell that blinds, but can also reveal invisible beings.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
do we need to arm any of our allies? i think we have a few weapons on hand.
They can piece together some weapons, each of them have some of their own possessions. Scourge has the keys to the rest of the ship weapons like the boarding pikes, crossbows, and items you'd need for ship-to-ship battle.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
thanks GM-Nayr.
okay, everyone, i think've a decision to make:
are we going to try to take them alive and have a trial (a good keel-hauling, as Jack remembers), or just kill them?
I don't know what notions the crew have about justice and what not. Maybe morale would be higher with a more proper sort of pirate justice.
okay-- is there such a thing? would we be hauled up before the Pirate Council, and face charges of mutiny?
In the Shackles, the Free Captains rule, and it's a harsh rule if you're in their central group. However, it'd be impossible to police the seas outside of their area of influence.
Here's the basic rulership of the Shackles:
The Pirate Council consists of the most powerful of the pirate lords of the Shackles. Each controls one of the major ports of the region. They are led by the Hurricane King, who rules the Shackles with the support of the members.
The current Hurricane King is Kerdak Bonefist. It is rumoured that his successor will be Tessa Fairwind, but some speculate that the succession might be sooner rather than later.
The winner of the annual Free Captain's Regatta is awarded a seat on the Council, but for the last five years this has been the Master of Gales, so the composition of the council has not changed.
Right now, you're on what would be the frontier, well away from any major ports. Here's a map of the area - you're way to the south
Map
Taking them alive is much harder
I'd think that Tilly is first and foremost...she's well liked among the crew and if she's collateral damage, it'd be bad for morale.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
okay. then i think we'll have to make this first and foremost a rescue operation.
anything about the layout of the quarters we ought to know about?
Yessir; map coming in game thread, just let me know if you need me to move around who's in front, etc.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
well, i think the obvious course of action is for an invisible Rush to make his move to save the hostage. We'll create a distraction...
Man, the good rolls continue!
