Well, I think that Belliott would attack.
I have not heard much from Belliott in a while, here or in RL.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
How long has the group been down in the caves? Should only have been a few hours, yes?
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
The main thing. Are we in good enough shape to take on the ship's officers? Tap has no spells, but has inspire courage rounds left. Rush can use that wand to call up allies, and whatever other spells Rush still has. Belliott has reduced strength, but is still a potent fighter. Jack, I'm not sure how his inspiration pool is doing, but is otherwise relatively unharmed. Kerruk has some spells and his spears. We might be able to take them head on. But a more sneaky plan might be better.
We have a potion of invisible and Rush has his invisibility ability, perhaps we can use that to our advantage to get back on the ship?
What do you all think?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
I would much rather we try to trick the captain and his allies to come off ship.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Wait, Tap does have one more level 1 spell ready. He can do silent image. There is no save against the illusion, unless one can interact with it...as long as it is reasonable. We can pair it with level 0 spell ghost sound if we want.
So what illusion would bring at least some of them off their ship?
Heaps of treasure?
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Main reason I was asking is that if we have 1 day, would we have time to rest. Rush only has 1 level one spell left as well. And his cure wand. And 1 minute of invisibility. I'm down for whatever, but I'm almost tapped out.
And Rush should use the Wand of Summoning I think. At least in any fights today.
But that is a good question, Rush. It may be we rest the remainder of the day, get some shut-eye, and retake the boat at night.
Can we get the time of day, GM Nayr, rough abouts, and how much time we have left?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
i still would prefer to take the ship without a fight. that means us getting on the ship and getting *them* off of it.
if the ship were ablaze, they'd get off it right quick. too bad we don't have a spare ship. (:
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Well, we kind of do. Some assembly required.....and some un-sinking.
It's fine to want that Jacko, but what's the plan?
It's really only been about an hour Rush; you guys didn't stop really at all.
By a guess, it's early afternoon; you have the evening and night. Plugg said he'd leave if he didn't see sign of you by dawn tomorrow.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
ah, so we could be refreshed by time we meet. assuming we all feel comfortable camping out on this island for the night

Going through Sandara's list of crew members Sandara mentions an oaf, and Shivikah. I don't know if we've encountered these two before.
THis is our current accounting of who is on Man's Promise:
Cog UNFRIENDLY?
Jape UNFRIENDLY
Fipps UNFRIENDLY
Sully Undecided
Conchobar Undecided
Plugg HOSTILE
Rahadoumi man HOSTILE
Master Scourge HOSTILE
Kipper HOSTILE
Fishguts HELPFUL
Tilly HELPFUL
Sandara HELPFUL
Owlbear FRIENDLY
Vigean FRIENDLY
Big Oaf ?
Shivikah ?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Let's be pessimists here:
ENEMIES = 11
ALLIES = 5
PC = 5
So that's 10 against 11. And one's a fat drunken cook.
On the other hand, these are pirates. If it looks like an easy and early win for us against the leadership, then the rest will stand down, or even turn to our side. Or pretend to anyway.
So, we have to strike hard and fast. This is dirty work. I'd send Tap's monkey in to poison the lot, if I had any.
The hard part is breaking into the officer's cabin
We are planning a night raid on the ship.
So far we are thinking something like this: We row as quietly as possible to the ship. Tap may try to use a spell to help cover the approach. Several of us will sneak on board using invisibility spells (Rush (if you are willing), + 1 person with potion of invisibility), or any of whom are exceptionally small and sneaky. We will make our way into the crewman's quarters. We will identify our worst enemies there, and either 1) complete our transition to villainous pirate by murdering them in their sleep, or 2) knock them out cold and them them up for later judgement. This should give us a ratio advantage among the regular crewman, and we will then intimidate/negotiate the wish washy bad guys into submission with numbers and muscle. Once this is settled, the party will try to take out any enemies that are on watch, then proceed to those within the captain's and officer's quarters.
Big oaf = owlbear, and I may have been mistaken - shivikah may have remained on the Wormwood
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Rush would be willing, but a warning to the group, he has no stealth score beyond the bonus to invisibility. That is (as we all know) a heft bonus, and he can go back into it, but if he gets caught in the open, he's running.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
+20 while moving is a pretty hefty bonus...may be able to take 10 on it too, so a 30 is hard to beat.
Rush, do you have any weapons? This is a bit of assassin work. [[Meta: Its a good opportunity for the crew to have an event dirty their souls a bit to prepare them for a future life of pirating on the high seas]]
Coup de grace is an auto crit. Maybe a boarding pike: 1d8+1d8+1d8
Tap has a stealth of +12, so he might be able to accompany too.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Rush carries a short spear and a dagger. Anything with a better crit range (and is a simple weapon) would be appreciated to make things easier.
If we catch them helpless, the criteria is auto. But 3x helps
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
So, umm, what do the rest of us do?
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Hang off the side of the boat, ready to come and rescue us?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
kind of a slow spot. always is when we are trying to get everyone together on a plan. and some players have drifted away for the time being.
I'm gonna text Belliot. He's been incommunicado in RL and here for a while now. May be too busy to play, but might feel like he is in a spot because we are colleagues.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Yeah, sorry. I work retail, it's near Christmas, and yesterday was my Birthday. So I've been busy. But B-day over, shopping is done, just need to ship things.
So, when I mentioned hanging off the side of the ship, I didn't mean in the water, just over the edge while those of us who are sneaky/invisible take care of who we can, then we rush the place like the end of Super Troopers.
Indeed, sorry guys...holidays and some work craziness. Back at home and ready to enjoy a quiet holiday. I'd appreciate that Sub...sort of a big venture to take on with anyone missing.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Was joking about the sharks.
Okay, not really. Just looking forward to a good keel haul. ha ha.
Do we have any other disguise options besides invisibility? Like an illusion to make me look like one of the crew, that sort of thing?
M Human Barbarian/4
Hey guys
I'm sorry about the extended absences. I've had a combination of health things and difficulties in my graduate program that have set me way back and I've had to pare down on outside distractions. I won't be able to continue the game right now, and thought it would be better to let you all know instead of waiting for me to respond. I really enjoyed playing with you folks, and hope to get to a place where I can more fully commit to a game soon, but for now I've gotta hunker down and avoid getting put on academic probation :/
Belliott
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Good bye Belliott. Is it an option to DMPC the character until you'll be back? If we're running the whole AP, I'm sure we'll be here.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Priorities, man!
Good luck. I think that we can NPC Belliot awhile, to be taken up at your leisure.
Indeed, no worries Belliott. Good luck with your program, which of course comes first. We're only in book one of six, so we'll be here quite a while. Come back to us if you can, buddy. If not, I wish you the best of luck in all you do.
I will DMPC till your return...Belliott smash
Let me know if you guys are ready to enact your plan; I can DMPC Belliott and Kerruk as needed, though please include them in the plan so I can at accordingly.
OK. This is a big moment, so let us think about it a bit more, maybe put it to a vote.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Rush will sneak aboard, but doesn't know the boat or the crew well. So someone else will need to go with him. Other than that, he'll support as needed like he has in the past.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Mr. GM, what is the weather for the next 24 hours? Rush has the ability to tell, and the player would like to know if there will be any useful weather coming.
1d100 ⇒ 71
1d100 ⇒ 87
1d100 ⇒ 39
Very hot - hovering around 100 degrees; you'll see a moderate rain for about 1d4 ⇒ 4 hours. There will be some fog in the morning due to the heat; rain will come near midday
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
you know what hides in fog really well? more fog.
Current HP: 28 of 28 Sylph Oracle 5
Jack, do you want me to summon some Air Elementals to help us fight?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
i honestly don't want to fight. I want it to be a bloodless coup
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
actually, casting sleep might be pretty useful, if it works
I'm not sure if saves against sleep are changed by being asleep, but in any case it is an area affect: I'd get our allies too.
Bloodless mutinies are not really a thing that happens easily. If that is the want, then a plan must be formed on how to get the captain off his ship.
Rush is moving you along:) Let me know if you're now going topside.
Here is our plan then.
Under the cover of fog, (if required, an illusion), we will sneak to the side of the ship. Belliott and Keruk will remain hanging on the side of the ship. Rush and Jack will become invisible (Rush+potion for Jack), and Tap will attempt to sneak with them. We will sneak into the crews quarters, and attempt to take out any of the crew that opposes us, while they sleep (either kill, or knock out and tie up; please vote). Once we have secured them, and raised our allies, we will go top side to deal with the officers and captain.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
killing or knocking out. which is quieter?
some of the crew will come on our side if we win. we can't excpect all pirates to be virtuous
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
so kill the worst, the one we have legit grudges against, and capture the rest
