I assume fairly mundane things are ok, killing a bandit, a wolf, being a jr. monster hunter in a team...

Yeah, but nothing that you'd be known for as of yet.

I rewrote Rav's background (in his character avatar). I would again assume it's ok to have some people know the characters in town, they just are not known to the whole town. So there are people who know and like them, people who know and dislike them, and then a huge swath of people who never heard of them?

Yeah, but as of this moment, unless you take a campaign trait linking you to a major NPC, you aren't on any of their "radar" so to speak.

Yep, why I picked a major NPC from a different AP instead. :) One that won't happen for a few years. :)

Been tossing around the idea of a halfing oracle with Ancestor Mystery. I'd be interested... I'll finish getting the concept put together and post with the profile probably tomorrow or so.

Silver Crusade

This is Destrina from earlier in the thread.

Here is my submission, Kala Steelheart. I have the horse stats and such in the stat block, but she doesn't technically have the horse from the trait until I actually meet Daviren Hosk.

Still need to select a Drawback, but Crunch is otherwise complete. Going to continue working on backstory and the like as well.

Character Submissions

Melee
Ravboom - Goblin Barbarian - mdt
Os'dyn Brackwater - Half-Elf Magus - Bathmat Djinn
Morythine Ettes - Dhampir Monk - Transylvanian Tadpole
Helgarr - Human Barbarian - Edeldhur
Kala Steelheart - Human Fighter - Earl Wheaton
Erdrin Dornbar - Human Paladin - Kagehiro

Ranged
None

Skill
None

Arcane
None

Divine
Cerinnibert - Aasimar Druid - Anoirtrou

If I have your character in a spot you do not intend to play them as, let me know, and I will adjust the list accordingly. I just did a cursory glance at the classes and placed them as I assumed they'd fall. I haven't had a chance to scan the submissions in detail yet, (working 5 out of 6 days, 12 hour shifts each), but will give them a thorough look when I get a couple days off. Part of the reason the recruitment phase is open so long.

Oh. Wow. Maybe the wizard wasn't such a bad call, hah!

Ouch. Uhh... Crossbow Magus? Is that a thing?

Still early in the game if any character juggling wants to happen.

I'll go ahead and get cracking on the wizard alternate then. If the role spectrum hasn't increased between now and then, I'll submit him as an alternate. Besides, it would be a shame to have a campaign based on Ancient Thassilon that lacked a proper mage.

*When I get home from work, that is.

Yeah, wow, didn't realize there were that many melee, usually it's more diverse. Talk about competition.

If we offer another option does that mean the first one is no longer eligible? If so, I'll stick with Os'dyn as I like the character and prefer to take the long odds even if it means I don't get in.

im interested. are ninjas allowed if not im thinking of running an alchemist.

dice roll:
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 2) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 2) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 1) = 17 16
I like these rolls

I'll submit Vilk as ranged, just have to change a few things around to fit the campaign requirements....

Dotting before even reading anything because Thron is awesome ad I’ve been wanting to play RotRL forever. Now to go back and read all the posts.

Edit:Ooh Gyrfalcon, Crusty and Kagehiro are in the house. Hi guys.

Scarab Sages

dotting for interest
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 5) = 1716
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 6) = 1715
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 6) = 1715
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 4) = 1915
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 4) = 1714
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 6) = 1613
I will be making a sorceror should have something up in a few hours (at work now will finish things up when i get home.)

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 4) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 4) = 16=13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 4) = 19=15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 5) = 21=16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 4) = 18=16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 3) = 16=14

Nice. I'm good at everything. Now to brainstorm...

I will be crafting an Idyllkin warpriest of Erastil. A mostly ranged switch hitter with healing and a maybe a few buffs. He's a hunter by trade who sells his meat and hides in Sandpoint. He should be able to cover all the nature type skills nicely.

Are the traits from the Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition Player's Guide available? I'm looking at Student of Faith.

Student of Faith wrote:
While you have personally dedicated your life to a single deity, you study all religions and mortal faiths. Upon hearing that the town of Sandpoint recently completed a cathedral dedicated to the six deities most popular in the area, you had to see the place for yourself, and have arrived in time for the consecration of this holy edif ice. Because of your strong faith and broad range of study, you cast all cure spells at +1 caster level, and whenever you channel energy, you gain a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of your channeled energy.

Edit:Also, can I reflavor veteran jungle guide to just be for normal forests instead of jungles?

Jelani, just a heads up - shouldn't that 21 turn into a 17 when you drop the 4?

Indeed it should, yay math! Thanks for the spot.

Gear completed; everything in the profile should be good to go!

I going to adapt a gnome oracle of the heavens that I used in another game. At Level 1 she will mostly function as a healer/buffer, but I'm preparing her to be an Illusion specialist starting at Level 2 with Color Spray, which will be insanely badass. So, plan is both crowd control and typical divine healing/buffing stuff.

Jelani: Those traits will be fine.

'Eyo!

Still juggling between a few concepts myself - my Dwarven Longhammer-wielding Warpriest (or the Inquisitor verson) is looking less interesting with the current lineup.. plus I'll admit, the Blessings have been less than interesting as well. Bah too many choices, none have clicked yet!

Jelani here. Crunch and half of fluff is done. The rest will come soon.

Thron - Are there any woodsy or Erastil oriented NPCs in Sandpoint that Eugeni might have relationships with? What about people who are particularly destructive towards nature?

Question, Thron:

Do you allow the Ability Focus feat from the bestiary?

I suppose since I'm allowing Craft Construct for another player I can allow that.

Too tired last night. Going to try and get the wizard lined up before work today.

*wave Jelani*

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For the record, just cause I posted those different character sections does not mean I'll be choosing one of each. I am more interested in interesting characters than party balance. Making your team work is on you guys...Evil Grin

Hey Thron, the Archeologist has a whole class feature around Disable Device (she adds +(level/2) to Perception and Disable Device, and can pick locks as a standard action)... But disable device isn't listed as a class skill. I don't see any errata saying that that was an oversight but it seems odd. Would you be OK house ruling that?

I can of course use a trait to make it one... But there are more interesting/thematic traits I'd rather take.

Thanks. Almost ready to submit!

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 4) = 12=>11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 6) = 11=>10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 3) = 20=>17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 3) = 15=>14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 2) = 11=>10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 6) = 15=>14

Interested in playing a witch.

Gyr,
Per the original designer of the class, it was intentional as away to not step on the rogue's toes.

Original Designer Quote

Haha. "Okay, Archaeologists. You can step on their pinky-toes, but THAT'S IT. NO MORE toe-stepping!"

LOL, basically. :)

Alright. Let's try this again... Submission #2, fresh off the boat from Faerun.

Awwww man, I miss the Red Wizards of Thay.

I still remember back in the day when my players had to travel miles and miles to a Thayan enclave to be able to buy and sell magical items - that was an adventure in itself.

Apologies for the minor rant there :D

OK, Gyrfalcon here, presenting Zoli Tileani.

She's a skill monkey with a healthy heaping of archery and magic support on the side.

4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 5) - 3 = 16
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 6) - 2 = 17
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 1) - 1 = 4
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 4) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 2) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6) - 1 = 17
+3, +3, -3, +0, -1, +3

Well.

It's a mixed bag. +5 total.

Might have to think how this changes the concept.

A 4. Impressive.

Put it in Cha for lulz.

Also, Thron, one more question: Do you allow us to Craft items before hand using reduced prices if we can take a 10?

Yes. Love me some Crafting. *cough*Dolgrin*cough*

Heh true dat!

I think you'll find this backstory is particularly well thought out.

Liberty's Edge

A sneak peak at my upcoming character:

Quote:
"THIS.. IS.. JANDERHOFF!" *Kicks some random Orc into a pit*

:3

Liberty's Edge

..I really hope theres no water in this campaign, because right now I'm sporting a -12 to swim checks - and thats including my strength bonus.

..Though I'd make a really good anchor if provided water breathing!

Looks like my question got missed, so I'm reposting it.

Thron - Are there any woodsy or Erastil oriented NPCs in Sandpoint that Eugeni might have relationships with? What about people who are particularly destructive towards nature?

I've never played RotRL before but I want Eugeni to as invested in Sandpoint as possible.
