Ibrah Narishtahir |
Ibrah points at the guards. "The guards were each incapacitated by a dart to the neck." He checks to see if they are still breathing. Then he takes a moment to inspect the quality of the weapons on the rack.

Meanwhile, back at the outpost, Whimbli notices a strange agent following him and takes his first chance to dart away in the darkness aboard Frank the mule across the moonlit desert floor towards Kilm.
Verrin Kord |
Verrin looks to see if there is any food untainted by meat, then examines the chest Thaane has abandoned, and checks to see if anything shows as magical.
GM Gristle |
Is Verrin a vegetarian?
Verrin discovers that the chest is locked. There is in fact meat on every plate, but there are also roasted root vegetables. The chest does not indicate anything magical.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
Ibrah quietly peeks out the door and down the hallway(s).

GM Gristle |
Ibrah sees nothing, but can here a faint clicking of metal against stone in the distance.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
Ibrah pulls out his mirror and reflects light down each end of the hallway one at a time, looking to see how far they go and and what else he can see.
He will cast Sift if necessary

GM Gristle |
The hallway only extends from the door in the room. Very dark.
Ibrah's light shines down the long hall as he catches a glimpse of rock pile.
GM Gristle |
Silvash opens the chest easily and finds a powder horn and 30 rounds of musket balls. A sack of 1000 gold pieces. A sack of 30 smooth stones. 20 packs of trail rations, a grappling arrow and a pristine masterwork buckler and two full wineskins.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
Ibrah points his reflected light at the pile of rocks and mutters a few words.
Casting Sift to name a perception check as if the pile were closer. I think there is a penalty also.

GM Gristle |
Ibrah concentrates hard and only sees a pile of fragmented boulders. There is much dust in the hallway. Dust from busted rock.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
"No sign of him. There is rubble down this hallway."

GM Gristle |
There is a huge pile of rocks obstructing the passage up ahead about 80 feet from the door. A sulphurous smell can be detected as if something has recently happened to cause this cave in. The clinking of pick axes can be heard on the other side as some type of humanoids work furiously to clear the rubble.
Dungeoneering or high perception check please.
Khartelosch |
Perc: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Khartelosch reaches the stony obstruction and listens for a moment, also glancing around for creatures hiding in the shadows. Try as he might, he is unable to distinguish anything about the source just from the sound of picks hitting stone. He returns to the others to inform them that they will eventually have company, but it will take "days".
GM Gristle |
Silvash and Verrin simultaneously recognize a dark patch in the wall twenty feet before the rockslide. It seems as if it may be an entrance to another tunnel.
Verrin Kord |
Verrin moves quietly to the location and attempts to survey the darkness, barring something dangerous, he will wave the stealthier members of the group to their usual positions.
GM Gristle |
Is the marching order the same as before or do you want to switch it up?
The tunnel is surprisingly wide for being connected by a secret door, almost ten feet. Despite the darkness, the party can tell that it is sloping downward.
Very quickly, the tunnel becomes full of webs. The group can see that the tunnel goes beyond the webs however.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
Ibrah fires the glowing arrow down the hallway and watches its path to see how far back it goes and what is lurking there.

GM Gristle |
The arrow seems to fly right through web unhindered. Nothing stirs after the arrow hits the stone floor.
Ibrah Narishtahir |
Does the light from the arrow reveal anything other than webs?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Gristle |
The webs remain unchanged as the arrow lights up the long empty tunnel that continues past it.
GM Gristle |
The rest of the party makes it into the tunnel behind Ibrah where they witness a passage full of webs with a glowing arrow beyond them.
Khartelosch |
Well, it seems clear that our mysterious helper didn't go through this way. How about if I take the lead? Does anyone have fire handy? Khartelosch moves up to examine whether the webs are fresh or cobwebs. Is anything hanging in them and, if so, does it look dessicated or juicy? He waits to see if anyone can offer a torch or other ignitable.
GM Gristle |
Khartelosch examines the webs and finds them to be intangible, the same finding as Ibrah. The tunnel continues down for about another 200 feet until they arrive at a cavern with a strange stone obelisk at the center. The cavern is lit dimly by the glowing fungi that the party has already encountered. The cavern is ovular and about 100 feet across at the longest spot. There is another opening behind the obelisk on the other side of the cavern.
