Game Master vonklinen

Campaign beginning with 2nd level multi-class PC's. Takes place in a wasteland. PC's are asked to provide security for a caravan heading to an industrial and trade center. Homebrew to follow RAW as closely as possible. I am an inexperienced GM, so looking for patient adventurers. Unique and exciting characters will be given preference.

25 point buy, medium XP track, mythic tiers after level 5.

While swearing in Abyssal, Verrin focuses his will on his blade then leaps forward to strike the worm, driving his blade in to it two handed seeking a weak point in its sandy hide.

Khartelosch seems torn in indecision. Warn the caravan or aid the others? He is not driven by morals such as honor or goodness. Neither does he care overly much about loyalty or indebtedness. In the end, the smell and sounds of battle draws him back. He turns around, his lucerne hammer at the ready.

Male Mwangi Oracle 1

The oracle reaches into her pouch and holds her hand up to her mouth muttering something. All of a sudden a thick cloud of vapor obscures the blazing sun right above her like a misty mushroom suspended mid-air.

The worm obstructs Tress' s path to join her comrades as it turns upon her and strikes.

1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16Damage: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 8, 2) + 6 = 18

The massive maw of the worm gnaws into Tress and slams her onto the sandy floor, lying in a heap, bleeding profusely.

The worm's tail whips around towards the mushroom cloud of suspended mist.

Rolls:
1d100 ⇒ 87 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

The tail finds its mark and the long thin stinger finds its way into Armistad's arm as she staggers out of the cloud.

Partially concealed behind a group of rocks, Thaane fumbles around trying to load both chambers of the double-barreled pistol he grips shaking.

As I suspect it isn't running away i will throw in my 2nd round. Add 2 if i can shift to a flank.

Verrin attempts to shift to a more advantageous position and lets loos a flury of blows, methodically probing for a weak spot.

Sending Malek off with a swat, Khartelosch's veins are pushed to the surface and he rages and approaches the great worm, trying to find a position opposite an ally like Verrin, and savagely swings his lucerne hammer with all his might with all his power.

dmg: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

The lucerne hammer smashes into the worm's hide and Khartelosch dodges the worm's lifeblood as it squirts out of it.

Idiots! Ibrah turns around and draws his longbow, then begins shouting advice at his companions. At least keep an eye on where it's going! -- watch out for that tail! -- etc.

Move action to draw Longbow, Standard Action to begin giving Advice. Ibrah and everyone who can hear him now gains +1 on saving throws vs. charm and fear, and +1 on attack and damage rolls.


Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Watching the beast strike Armistad, Silas stands up and fires a round from his own pistol.

Sending yet another bullet arbitrarily into it's carcass.

Tress draws the scimitar and makes a desperate two-handed attack upon the monstrosity.

Her attempt completely misses the beast as it responds with another attack of its giant maw.

Ripping her into parts connected only by tough bloody sinew, the worm looks around for the shooter of that last bullet and heads toward Silas.

Thaane rests both hands securely upon the rocks in front of him as he closes one eye and sticks out his disgusting purple-ish tongue. He fires both barrels simultaneously creating the loudest bang yet heard across this expanse of the desert. Almost as loud as the bombs dropped yesterday by Laholm.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 2d8 ⇒ (8, 7) = 15

The worm shutters as it stops on its way to the injured Paladin and turns back to look at Thaane.

Ibrah continues to shout advice as he moves towards the nearest cover he can find within longbow-range of the worm, then he reaches for the well of luck inside him and draws upon it.

As their current foe begins the dying process, the ground quakes violently and another worm ex. plodes through the planet's crust.

The new worm tears Silas in half and swallows the top part before speeding towards the caravan.

Thaane stares intently at the body of Tress gargling and gasping for air. He is numbed by the carnage that surrounds him. He spots his dagger upon the belt of the lower half of what used to be Silas. Without any sense of urgency or place, Thaane sets his pistol down upon the rock and draws his falchion before walking up to the worm flanked by his cohorts and begins to cut the creature's belly open with the razor sharp blade of his weapon, deep.

The worm makes one final attempt on Thaane, ripping a chunk from his leg before convulsing in one final moment.

1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 173d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) + 6 = 13

Upon cutting, a massive amount of intestines and fluid as well as items spill from the creatures gut. Among them is the semi-recognizable upper half of Silas, a few chunks of metal of what could have been weapons and armor, an adamantine chest and five glowing objects.

Loud fire is coming from the now halted caravan under attack. At least 10 shots can be heard as well as blood curling screams. The Mwangi lays upon the desert floor swollen and barely breathing. The enormous carcass of the worm lays filleted before the adventurers. Kilm is steaming towards them.

Level Up! Everyone has gained 4,284XP.

Thaane falls next to the body of Tress with his black acidic blood spewing onto the open flesh of the worm and sizzles. He grabs the wand from her body and raises it into the air pleading,

(I actually thought Ibrah had that wand, but I'll roll with it. I gather it's 1d8+1 and not 1d8+3.)

Khartelosch hobbles over to Thaane and was about to apply his curative magics, but is reminded at the last moment of the man's curse. He takes the wand in hand and immediately makes the first application to Thaane's wounds.

ILW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

With a frown, he watches a small amount of the strangely necrotic flesh knit itself together and prepares to use the wand again. He looks out at the caravan's deadly battle with the second worm and realizes his welcome in the trading town has gone from tolerated to none. For a moment, he wonders what goodies might await in the caravan ruins, then recalls that they have found their own box hard enough to withstand he worm's digestive fluids.

Verrin shrieks in rage at the new catastrophe the wastes have sent to them. He looks for a moment as if he is going to try and run all the way back to the distant caravan, but then sees the Mwangi man dying at his feet.

He pours a curative potion down the mans throat and then probes at the stinger wound with a clawed finger to get blood flowing and tries to suck the poison out.

cure light potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

heal check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

fort save for the terrible idea of sucking poison out: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

The Mwangi begins to look better from Verrin's assistance, however Verrin tastes the bitter sting of the pungent poison as he has now ingested some.

Still in much pain, Thaane pulls a bone out of the gut pile to help him stand. In doing so, he notices a ring with a soft cobalt glow. He studies the ring carefully before putting it into his pouch. He then makes it to his feet. Can anyone help with this chest? There are also some odd glowing objects in this mess.

If yes, he starts sprinting. I am assuming no, it is too late.

Verrin carefully gathers some of the creatures acidic secretions in the now empty potion vial.

Khartelosch looks around to see whether the others are helping to retrieve the treasures found with the worm's bowels and uses the wand once again.

He concludes that whoever created this wand was a cretin, but keeps this discovery to himself.

Verrin comes across a pouch softly glowing light red and pr istinely clean for being inside the gut of a beast.

Thaane walks towards the lower half of Silas and retrieves his dagger. He also finds some of his gear that fell off of Silas' s horse. He grabs a shovel and commences helping Verrin properly bury the bodies.

He takes a break to shackle the sick Mwangi woman and give her some water.

All the while horrific screams can be heard coming from the commotion surrounding the caravan. As well as gunfire.

If they are still fighting I would totally hold of on the burying and such. Sprint that direction. I kinda had the idea that it was over and done before we would be able to intervene.

Having hopefully stabilized the nameless mwangi man and or woman, Verrin sprints towards the caravan. Hopefully there will still be someone to save.

Thaane shrugs his shoulders as his new friends run off into danger. He stops burying the dead and carefully packs his stuff and grabs the spear with the orc's head skewered through it. He begins walking towards the next fray.
