Campaign beginning with 2nd level multi-class PC's. Takes place in a wasteland. PC's are asked to provide security for a caravan heading to an industrial and trade center. Homebrew to follow RAW as closely as possible. I am an inexperienced GM, so looking for patient adventurers. Unique and exciting characters will be given preference.

25 point buy, medium XP track, mythic tiers after level 5.

The bottle smokes like the dickens when the stopper is removed and doesn't quit until the stopper is replaced. Thick black smoke too.

I suspect my studies of the arcane may have been less... standardized than most, perhaps I can discern additional information regarding these objects.

Unless I miss my guess, that orb allows someone like us to store spells in it. However, the spells Gorrim describes are considerably different in power.

One wooden box contains a pearl of power and one an Ioun stone. The bottle is an ever-smoking bottle. The heavy sack has 1000 gp in it.

The orb is about the size of a softball and doesn't hover. It is kind of like a crystal ball with silver liquid in it.

what level pearl?

This ioun stone will all one of us to disquise our appearance. A useful thing for any of us. For the moment perhaps you should make use of it, Gorrim. That may allow us to conceal your escape for a while longer. And this pearl will allow Silvash or I to return one of our spells to memory each day.

Yes, lets get up there, perhaps we kind find the end of these greyskins. I don't know how much longer we will last without a safe place to rest.

By chance can we use the Pearl to recall a lower level spell? It doesn't by rules, but that seems like an unnecessary limitation. Heh just red back through and realized the stone and pearl are Gorrim's anyway. :)

I have always played that it could recall anything up to and including its level. Gorrim offered these items as a thanks for his rescue.

We are all injured, but I seem the most agile, I will drink another of my healing potions and lead the way. If none have better use for it, I could use the pearl to cast a shielding enchantment on myself as well.

Can I just check for understanding here? We went down the long tunnel into the den of the big bugs. In that den we found a rock shelf with a small tunnel leading from it. In that small tunnel there was a side room - the room we're currently in - guarded by a now-dead gray dwarf. Does that tunnel leading from the rock shelf continue past this room or have we reached the end of it?

Your assessment is correct. That tunnel does go past your current location. There were a few tunnels that the group chose not to go down.

Silvash climbs slowly up the foot holds and carefully opens the trap door which easily opens. As he sticks his head through the door, he notices that there are two gray-skinned dwarves unconscious on the floor, while their fresh plates of food still produce steam. There is a platter on the table in the room and an open door. A dark shadow quickly moves through the open door as soon as it notices Silvash.


Wand in hand, Gorrim aims at the wide-eyed Thaane before he remembers Thaane's curse.

Still below, Khartelosch listens for the sound of running. Perhaps the upper and lower chambers are connected by more than one passage.

No running or foot steps are heard. Thaane helps Gorrim up the foot holds while Gorrim gripes about being touched by Thaane. The room upstairs appears to be a makeshift barracks. It is quiet. The food on the table in the center of the room overpowers any scents available.

Khartelosch waits until the others are safely up the ladder before climbing up it himself and closing the trap door after him. If there is a latch or bar of any kind, he engages it.

Ibrah inspects the food. Has any of it been eaten? Could there have been something in the food that knocked the dwarves out? While he looks at the food he says "Silvash, are you going after it?"

Thaane watches as Ibrah eats the food and then starts helping himself to the delicious roasted lamb legs.


Gorrim watches Thaane closely and after a few minutes tears into some roasted boar meet that was sitting on a platter. He eats so quickly that he gets sick.

Ibrah notices that there are two darts, one in each of the necks of the grays. There is a rack against the wall which holds two muskets, a glaive, and two short spears. There are four cots and one chest in the corner. The room looks like a small barracks. It is about 500 square feet, 20' x 30'.
