Acting on Kel's behalf.

Safe in the doorway, Kel fires at the shoots in the way of his comrades. His first arrow is lost in the leaves of S7, doing no damage, but the second removes the threat of S4 permanently.

"Move, move!" he shouts, swinging his sword about with each word to cut deep into the shoots primitive minds.

Move to K20

Minor: Sustain Canon of Avoidance

Standard Action: Cutting Words on S7; 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 vs. WILL for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 psychic damage and on a hit, pull Shoot7 to H13 so Brujo can get around easier.

Still struggling to overcome the poison, Erik's attack narrowly misses the venomous shoot as he backs out of door, casting anxious glances at his remaining companions as he does so.

Brujo nods at Kelgan. "Get her out of here," and tosses a glinting bottle of potion towards the half-orc. He stands poised, readying himself for whatever the parent vine intends to throw towards the pair.

Delaying to see what the vine does.

The plant lashes out again in a wide circle, striking at Kelgan and his burden.

As the tendrils hit, Brujo gestures and sullen fire reignites, bloodying the plant. (Aegis does 9 fire damage to the vine). With a further twist, it sends out two more shoots to bar the way to safety.
Immediate reaction when bloodied.

The moonelf is already moving even as the shoots appear. Flame appears on his blade as he strikes, desperately trying to clear a path for Kelgan.

Actually, Rev, I'm going to have to nix the OA attack with my dragon scales utility. So I'm still not bloodied and not poisoned. +7 to all defenses for that attack. I figured it would hit. :)

Male Human Sorcerer 9

"Get out of there!" Hobbes yells at his comrades from the doorway. "Before these things turn you into mulch!" He moves forward and casts another fire spell. Then he sings a brief song of hope, in a strong and powerful voice. As he does, Ceara feels her wounds knit and start to disappear.

hmm, move up to I19, cast burning spray centered on S7, +12 vs Ref, 24, if hit, 1d8+13 or 20 fire and first one to hit me before end of my next turn gets 4 fire damage. then minor, use majestic word on Ceara, healing surge+5+1d6 or surge+8 hp back. Now get out of there, Ceara!

As the rampant vines attempt to strangle Hobbes, the sorcerer unexpectedly thwarts them by coating himself with icy dragon scales. In return, he sends a wild gout of flame into S7, crisping it horribly, but not felling it.

The prone shadow Ceara is back to her feet in an instant.

My apologies, but I'm about to get a new computer and may vanish until I get everything reinstalled. If Erik doesn't post before the magic moment arrives when I have to ditch this machine, I'll act for him and update the monsters so you can at least start the next round.

Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc

Rev, is this vine raised up on something? If it is then my slide for Ceara wouldn't be possible.

Erik only shakes his head at the continued attacks, realizing his allies aren't going to retreat after all. Deciding to go with it, Erik takes the now clear path and charges at the large vine.

Minor Action: Shift the Canon of Avoidance onto Ceara.

Move Action: Move to F21

Standard Action: Scorpion's Claw Strike on V1; 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 vs. AC for 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 8) + 6 = 21 damage and on a hit, slide Ceara to C22 and give her a +3 power bonus to her AC until TEOMNT. (Note, that won't stack with Canon of Avoidance but will supersede it for her AC).

It's rooted to the ground.

I am mostly back, but I can't find the relevant documents relating to this adventure - they lurk on a shared drive the new computer hasn't found yet. I'll deal with the monsters and Brujo as soon as I can.

Male Elf Ranger

Kel attacks the main vine again.

1st arrow, attack vs ac, 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31, damage = 1d12 + 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (9) + (6) + 7 = 22
2nd arrow, attack vs ac, 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31, damage = 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Kel's arrows do their work well. As they pierce the vital root system beneath it, the hideous plant finally crumples into compost. The shoots writhe in protest, but do not fall.

Male Human Sorcerer 9

"What angers me is that even if we kill all the shoots, we have to go thru the gate. This isn't the end, its just the beginning. We still have no way to get those people safely down off this thing." Hobbes calls out to Kel.

Ceara becomes solid and methodically strikes down another shoot.

Ceara

Spoiler:
Belatedly realised that I've only been taking half damage from you the last couple of rounds when it should have been full from the time of your first attack after using Shadow Form. The error is absolutely mine, so it stands.

Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc

Erik takes a deep breath and tries to blast 2 of the shoots away with the force of his own voice but the long fight has left him hoarse and fatigued. The wind barely trembles as his sonic waves bounce about harmlessly.

"We can do it. We are nearly done!"

Move to E24
