I'm not really seeing how Devils would be intimidated by that. Beyond that's those sights are would likely be normal in Hell - or the Hells as the case might be - I don't picture devils as being all that easy to scare. Heck, we weren't scared by seeing living humans in the choir device, why would dead devils scare a live one? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea for flavor, but I don't think it would have any effect on the enemy. On a side note, does anyone mind if I snag the whip?
Erik Annadar |
"Shall we start dragging our fallen opponents behind our chariots while their fathers look on as well? These are not sacred creatures by any means but I would not lower myself to their level. They are dead and that is enough. Such a grizzly display would likely turn my stomach as much as a devil's."
Bartholomew Hobbes |
If I had a chariot, I just might do that. But since the majority is against me, I will suppress my ideas.
"Cassie, keep a good eye out. You can sleep all day tomorrow if you want, but stay alert tonight. Good cat." He says as he rubs her nose. Then he curls up in a corner and tries to sleep for a bit. "Wake me up in a few hours. I'll watch the rest of the night."
Rev DM |
The night passes without interruption, although Hobbes notes that Cassie seems uneasy and that Brujo stirs in his sleep from time to time, as though resisting a call he would rather ignore.
Brujo
And on waking, you are fully restored with hp, surges and powers with 1AP each. Where and what now?
Bartholomew Hobbes |
"I agree. We should either go thru the choir room to the room beyond, or go down the other corridor to where the zombies came from." Hobbes says as he stretches his arms and winces a bit. He is very sore from sleeping on the cold ground. "I hope that farmer appreciated my sacrifice." He says under his breath.
Hobbes picks Cassandra up and says, "Good girl. Now take your rest." And she shrinks down and compresses back into his cat tattoo.
Ceara |
For her part, Ceara slept fine, though in the morning she spent some time practicing with the whip the group had found. Then, after whatever brearkfast the group had she hmmms. "What to be today." She thinks, then grins. "I know! This will be fun." Her body morphs into - Nialla! "I've never been a sucubbus before. Perhaps another talk with the cult - er, poor innocent victims is in order."
Bartholomew Hobbes |
Hobbes rolls his eyes at Ceara. "Very funny, Ceara. Too bad you're not authorized to bypass my arcane lock." He smiles at her. "But if you want to stay that way, feel free to liberate yourself from your clothes at any time you choose. Succubi tend to run around naked, you know." And he beams a smile at her with that one. then winks at her.
I don't care where we go, we are going to encounter whatever Rev's got cooked up for us in any case. Apparently, Kel thinks to move down and check that door to the main room. so I think we'll head there. After a reasonable amount of time, that is. When Kel gets back.
Rev DM |
Kel deftly kicks the door in to reveal a group of surprised spellscarred, engaged in a macabre picnic. Bottles of wine, wrinkled fruit, bread rolls and a pie which has seen better days are placed neatly on the bodies of two more farmers. Yet another body is being used as an inpromptu desk to support a large book.
The superficial civility of the arrangements is marred by the pair of spellcarred who are eating their table.

"Spellscarred again. This repetition will do no good for my story," says Erik with mock indignation as he draws his new blade and readies his shield.
"But there's so much varity among the spellscared who would notice."
Twin Strike on G4
arrow 1, attack vs ac, 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29, damage = 1d12 + 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (12) + (7) + 7 = 26
arrow 2, attack vs ac, 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33, damage = 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Second arrow was a crit damage = 19 + 2d6 ⇒ 19 + (4, 2) = 25

Kel's arrows sing through the air with devastating effect. One ghoul is bloodied before it can do more than raise its head from its meal.

"Time to burn," Perigia says as she steps into the room and launches a Fireball at one of the clusters of spellscarred. Move to J6 and cast Fireball in L11. G4 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30, G1 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15, G2 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19, damage 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 6 = 10 fire. Crit on G4 who takes 24 fire damage.
Rev DM |
The companions go immediately to work to break up the impromptu feasting. Kelgan hurtles into the room, narrowly missing G4, while Hobbes conjures a terrifying roll of thunder that slows the steps of the Commander Accordant and G3.
Perigia steps calmly into the room, flame sprouting from her staff in preparation for her next attack.
Perigia - it's a surprise round, so you can't both move and hurl a fireball. You can keep the roll and use it next turn.

'Nialla' laughs a little as the battle starts. "This should be over quickly." she says as shadowy darts rip out towards the wounded ghoul.
Shroud on CA, since free actions are ok in a suprise round. Shadow Darts vs Ghoul 4. Targets Ref. Attacks: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, and 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28. One hit: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11, two hits: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 3) + 6 = 17, three hits: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) + 6 = 13
Wow, I hope the 19 missed! If all 3 hit I lose damage!

AP: 1/1
Status: CA has 1 shroud.
Rev DM |
"Traitorous succubus b%$*@!" cries the Commander Accordant in outrage as Ceara sends a shadowy shroud towards him before attempting to annihilate the bloodied ghoul.
As the creature staggers, the other ghouls look longingly towards it as their next potential meal.
You'll be glad to know that 19 does miss, but the other two hit. He takes 17 damage.

Erik bolsters Kelgan's defenses with a harmonious spell of protection that fills the air around the fighter and deflects all forms of attack.
The daring bard then walks into the room himself and attempts to lure another ghoul into melee with him using another song.

Minor Action: Canon of Avoidance; Kelgan gains a +2 bonus to all his defenses, I can sustain this and move it to another ally as a minor action.

The Commander turns himself effortlessly into an insubstantial blue shade and moves closer to the wounded ghoul, effortlessly healing it.
"And what could possibly be a better offer than the one she already took? Isn't that enough?"
Spellplague Spirit. Commander becomes insubstantial and can enter an enemy space, making a melee attack on each enemy it passes in this way. Only one attack (v Ref) per foe.
Spellplague Succour (rechargeable). Ally within 5 regains 16hp and Spellscarred or Plaguechanged also gain Con bonus.

Drooling with a hunger that can never be satiated, the ghouls converge on the heroes, digging claws into Perigia, Kelgan and Brujo. Brujo avoids the attack, but Kelgan isn't so lucky, and Perigia is completely unable to defend herself against the onslaught.
