"See, that's the thing. I'm not putting myself above anyone. I'm putting us all on the same level, worth wise. They might have more experience, but that doesn't matter if they use it to make other people miserable. Now, without the upkeep of the Sun, we're all equals. I'm equal to you equal to them equal to the surfacers. We're all just as good as each other now, as long as we deserve to be that way. Now, this is where there's unequalness. They make other people sad, so they're not as good. Other people that help people to be happy are good. I don't care to do either, so I am in the middle, I suppose. If you help people, that's great, good on you. If you make people feel bad, that's not good and you need to stop or be stopped. I don't really feel like getting all that into this. It's all debatey. Let's talk about something else."
Ulna Terrianos
Watching at Archena speaks, and then pausing after the fact to dwell on her response, Ulna nods slowly once, with a furrowed brow, then says, "Very well."
It doesn't appear that she's going to initiate the 'something else' topic start, as she's still thinking on something, and looks the others within view over, then back towards window and out while still listening.

Melody Waverider |

Mel looks up at the person that spoke.
I don't think we have met... I'm Melody, but most people call me Mel.
why don't you have a seat, tell us about what you can do with metal. or actually anything about yourself really, like your name, and are you a student here.[/b]

Zuki Barang |

He gives a curt nod, and grabs a metal lunch tray. Then goes through a small kata and does this. he hands the swan to Mel.
"My name is Zuki Barang. I am a student here. Right now, most of my free time is used up...umm with punishment. But that'll be over soon, and will have time to help."

"Sooo," Etain said with a cheerful grin, trying to steer the conversation in a safer direction, "what kind of music do you like? I mean, you don't really look like the chamber music types, but, hey, I've been wrong before."
Alev snorts. "Don't be fooled...he just wants an excuse to talk about his favorite band. He has music crystals hidden in all his pockets because he couldn't bear to lose his favorite recordings."

David.De'Foul |

@melody before the new guy shoes up: Dave frowns"I think I've met this igni guy, if I'm thinking of who you're talking about, he was saying some rather rude things to and about Raelle,"
....
@new guy: "Well I suppose I have two questions for you, one, how are you at fine manipulation, and more exotic metal and metallic alloys, we're wanting to make a watch, we want it to be hard to damage, but still visually appealing, we were thinking a gold andamanite alloy, secondly your "punishment" how soon is "soon" and for what were you punished"

Melody Waverider |

@ Dave,:
I know exactly where you are coming from, but I can tell you I owe my life to both Raelle and Igni, they worked together to save me, along with Arthur. They learned alot about each other, and if they can find a way to work together, than we all can.
she pauses here for a second, Even you and Ace. she adds looking to find a way to mend relationships.
@ Zuki:
Yes, I was just going to ask that, what was your punishment? I mean I just got done detention yesterday.

Zuki Barang |

"I can blend metals, sure. With a good firebender handy, probably could make all kinds of alloys.
How fine? Like itty bitty gears and stuff? Never tried, but I dont see why not. Umm...played a few pranks...got caught. Now I'm working to get the materials wharehouse back in shape by taking the twisted metal and turning it back into shelving."

Tybalt Baneko |

Tybalt vehemently shakes his head.
"Nope. Sorry Mel. I can't be in a room that hot unless I can get a quick solution to the ice problem. If you need it, I can leave Jer with you with a metal cooling spell, but I'm afraid I can't be near that.

Dara Jhiwoon |

Dara was feeling nervous. He didn't like going to class with all the other students. He decided that he'd had enough of breakfast and had built a gravity defying fortress of spoons and forks around his seat in the corner of the elementary cafeteria.

Ori Reading |

Ori was watching Salis prepare his lessons for the day with a certain amount of envy. Just a few days off of teaching and she was already bored out of her mind and desperate for something to do. Grading papers seemed almost fun in contrast to this. Almost.

Ryleh |

Ryleh frowned as she watched her bank of scrying screens. There was a great deal of unrest in the world, most of it seemingly unrelated to Avalon, but one could never be sure. It made her nervous. It was unusual to see so much political turmoil at once. It was probably the paranoia talking, but she had long since learned that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not all out to get you...

Jeran Darkclaw |

Jeran stumbled into the cafeteria half asleep after pulling an all-nighter watching over Kuros. He made his way through the line, blindly piling his tray with every protein option he could find and sat down at the nearest table, wolfing down his breakfast.

Lysander Sandwalker |

Dara was feeling nervous. He didn't like going to class with all the other students. He decided that he'd had enough of breakfast and had built a gravity defying fortress of spoons and forks around his seat in the corner of the elementary cafeteria.
"Nicely done, Dara," the white letters that appear inside the fort read, "but how will you eat without making a hole for the world?"

Serrin Surya |

After listening to her cousin go on about equality, Serrin had had enough. She looks Archena in the eyes as she talks, in a voice loud enough to be heard by most on the bus. "Talking about equality is great n all, but let's face it, that's nonsense. If you're injured, would you rather go to a healer who is just ok, or go to one of the best?"
She looks at the other firebirds, challenging almost. "What I don't get is why fire magic is so highly prized. Most of what one can do with fire magic is destroy. Sure, it can be used to help forge stuff, but that requires outside metal. My shadow magic can be used to create, destroy, or trick. I slip through the fabric of reality in order to travel and I can conjure forth all manner of beings to assist me in both combat and otherwise. Yet, I was shunned for my purple hair, pale skin and dark abilities."

Pyrrhos Svarog |

"You said it yourself." Pyrrhos responds. "you can use your magic to trick. Deceive, fool, lie. How do we know your hair is purple, or that you are even a firebird, which, by the way, is why we respect fire magic so much as it makes us who we are? What exactly did you do to make part of yourself reject you so readily that you must use what fire creates as your magic?"

Tybalt Baneko |

"Thanks."
He says simply.
Tybalt is seated next to Dave, with one of Dave's wings around him, he gently runs his hand down the feathers, liking the feel of thin gold as he thinks. He stares off into space, idly stroking the gold feathered security blanket.
Hopefully this isn't too much for Dave at once. He doesn't even appear to be doing it consciously.

Kevin Ramos |

"Hey, hey, Calm it down with the hostilities. This is a place of learning, not warfare. You're safe here. No enemies." He says gently.
He resumes eating, mumbling to himself again.
"Heh. War. What's it good for anyways..."

![]() |

"were we any other race, you would have a point, fire magics, the powerful kind especially is used, primarily to destroy, and though the power to destroy is one to be respected, there are a million and one ways to destroy, but we are creatures of fire, the flame does not destroy it nurtures, it heals, it protects, even to the surface dwellers, fire represents a duality, it is destruction, but it is also life, fire keeps them warm, lights their way, cooks their food, fire is that which you use it to be"

Archena Surya |

Archena sighs.
"I don't know what it's called, but I liked the fast music my friend played on the violin she had. She was hired as a servant and she would play the stupid classic stuff when my parents were around, but when they left she played the fast stuff I really liked. I like to dance sometimes."
She chooses not to respond to her scary cousin.
Years of oppressive parents had well trained her to not say what was on her mind when people annoyed her and to keep a straight face that didn't give away what she thought.
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them knooooooow!

Serrin Surya |

"Sure, for us, yes. But for the majority of people, it destroys. Can it cook food or and keep people warm? Yes, but for the most part, it ruins. As to why my hair is purple, I suppose it has to do with my connection to the Shadow Plane. Even now, I can feel it calling to me, pulling me, whispering to me."

Serrin Surya |

"Apparently your teachers or studies were lacking. The Shadow Plane is not infernal, that is Hell. Heck, the Shadow isn't even evil. Sure, evil things come from there, but it is a reflection of our world. So like here, there is evil, but also not evil" She says to Vis, though she avoids using the term good. Such is not found much in the realm of darkness.

![]() |

"to talk of fire as a force primarily of destruction is hypocritical, the shadow plane is one that intersects closely with the plane of negative energy, and brings with it several conotations, the shadow is dark, cold, a force of fear and secrets, one of death and despair, and yet what you said is also true, it is useful, it is versatile, can do many things, the same is true for fire, the difference is cultural, we are beings of fire and light, we are creatures of the sky, born of fire, and thus fire is valued to us, but then I suppose, it is wise to also see value in other gifts, myself for example, though I have some significant mastery of the fire of our people, I also know some druidic magics,"

Vis Niyambi |

"Infernal... I have a separate definition in my religion. I realize you don't think the shadow plane is infernal but to me, it is just as infernal has hell."
vis avoids eye contact.
Serrin Surya |

Looking to Lucas, she nods "That's my point. Too many of our society see mastery or even possession of different abilities and powers has an abomination and thus censured. Sure, are my powers weirder and darker than fire magicks? Yes, but they are still quite useful. Its important to embrace all, regardless of power, look or ability."

Mel is a little disappointed at the reply but she definitely understands.
Well maybe that Klien field will help, if I ever can make it work. Anyway, I'll still have to talk to Igni to see if he is up to helping.

"Great! I don't have a music player with me now, but I'm sure they have them at the school and I have a few music crystals you might really enjoy," Etain said, smiling and ignoring the more serious conversation flowing around them while Alev and Elektra appeared to be having a heated debate via some sort of sign language.

"Not hungry," he signed, presuming that if the letters could get in, then they could get out as well.

Dara Jhiwoon |

"Then you don't need all the forks and spoons."
"Want. Safe. Not like class. Class scary," [i]Dara signed.

"Ace" |

Ace grips his weapon, and finds a strategic spot to hold the bridge. Once the SIM starts, he dives almost head first into combat, jumping, flipping and dodging foes left and right, his staff smashing down again, and again against his enemies. When there's foes too far away, or any that take to the sky, his staff becomes a longbow, and he launches deadly arrow after deadly arrow. At a few points, he appears surrounded, and but then flies into a rage, spinning a massive battleaxe in arcs of destruction. Whenever there's a pause in the fighting, the young man takes a few moments to heal himself, drawing on his divine connection to his deity, The Traveler. There's even times when he blasts his foes apart with eldritch energies or moments when he shapeshifts into a more suitable form, allowing him better defenses or modes of attack.
Not sure if Ace should 'win' or not. Doesn't really matter either way

Damiani |

Ulna Terrianos
Listening to the siblings, and assorted others talking, Ulna appears to be more interested in listening, primarily, though, when the discussion of music near her continues, she smiles faintly and shares her tastes, which equate to 'Classical' and Electronic Dance equivalent.
"... as long as the voice isn't the main thing, if that makes sense. The music should carry the song, with the singer adding to it. I have little patience for vainglory in performers. That's smacks of arrogance, and not homage to their craft, entertaining others. Male or female isn't important, though, obviously some voices are more heavenly than others." She ends the feedback with a shrug.
It would be somewhat apparent she doesn't appear interested or focused when the discussion of planes comes into play.
Other Skimmer Passengers
Mostly, the three males remain quiet in their own way, while only Sven seems the most active, being alert compared to stoic short ash haired youth, and sneering tall thin youth.

Tybalt Baneko |

"I believe you can. You're smart enough."
He smiles encouragingly to Melody, as he continues to absentmindedly stroke his shiny security blanket.

Fei, of the Sun Soul |

"Oh hi Fei. You might not remember me, but I was one of the people that helped when you got all exploded and stuff. Glad you're better now. Oh hey! You have the thing too. Sorry this is new to me. And we all have nice things. Are there people with bad concepts too?"
He seems cheerful, with his final question being ambiguous towards either Fei or Vai.
"I do remember, and good morning," Fei replies warmly, with a respectful bow (and noting the 'aura' now surrounding the catfolk).
"That is...relative, I suppose. It appears, though, that many of these concepts can be 'bad', regardless of what they actually represent..." he says very quietly as they enter the raucous din of the Cafeteria.
Florence Levitt wrote:Tybalt wrote:"Well, good to see you all. Um... What are you two talking about?""Hey Vai. You look all bright and stuff. Oh! Do you do that thing too? That's so cool that we're both right here in the same place."
^_^"It's a long story." Vai says in response to Florence. "A long, you're probably-better-off-not-knowing type of story. But yeah Tybs, there's... alot of us here. You'll be surprised how many." She replies companionably, though her mood turns decidedly more sour when David approached, and then her pointed ears perk slightly and she glances in the direction of... Ardiente and Raelle? Raelle looked like she was crying.
There's something of a accusatory glare at David, before Vai quickly turns on her heel and marches away, making for where Raelle and Ardiente were standing, right in the middle of the cafeteria, approaching from where Raelle could see her with a hand raised lightly to wave if she did.
The young monk watches the brief interchange with this other student before Vai abruptly leaves. Unsure of the exact cause, he decides it best to remain silent while the others speak.

Cindra Svarog |

"something to think on, certainly" he rolls his eyes
Cindra listens quietly for the most part, but after this comment from Lucas she mutters very quietly to herself, and her tone is dripping bitter, "At least her abilities have a potential use." Too quietly for any save Solus or Hestia, who are right next to her, or someone with exceptional hearing to notice.
