So tempted to write both sides of the dialog, at least in parts:
J: "Why do you care?"
G: "Why not help, if I can? It's great fun!"
J: "It's nonsense! You'll be thought a fool."
G: "I am a fool!"
And:
J: "Why in Varisi?"
G: "So that it wasn't meant to be overheard."
J: "But you did mean them to overhear. What if they don't speak Varisi?"
G: "Please, Varisi is spoken by everyone, save for foreigners and fools."
:)

My inner 14-yr old wanted me to ask, if the coin was heads or tails. :)
I asked of him, "Why give the coin power to set limits?"

I've been really busy the last week to ten days. While I very much doubt that things will let up in general between now and the holidays, I do believe the next few days will be less hectic. I should be available for updates more than once a day, at least.
Of course, I've found that saying out loud that I expect to have some free time is generally the best way to ensure that something totally unexpected will turn up to claim it. :P

Gristav |

Gold Goblin wrote:"It's a ship," the halfling with the bucket of pitch puts in, turning to look down over his shoulder at Braddon. "A pirate ship. What do you want with it?""A ship? Where is it? Where was it? Where's it going? Who's the captain?"
How many crew? What are their names?
I really enjoy reading Braddon. :)

Gristav |

Wow. Thanks.
There's space around what you have to have Braddon say, to paint his thoughts, his hopes, his understanding of his world. And he's got a decent wisdom, he's no fool. There's deep currents running in there. Or there can be, if that's the way you write it.
The scene where he asks Sam to teach him Varisi? Gold.

Gristav |

Ah, that heady mix of guilt, duty, worry, anticipation, and disappointment.
And people wonder why he's a bit... odd.

Joana |

A question has been raised as to the disposition of the evidence taken from Lil's flat. According to the record, Gristav has the diamond dust, Malkith the vials that detected faintly of poison, and Braddon was the last to say he had the scarf in his hands so I assume he's the one in possession of it. I don't believe you guys have actually had time to sit down and examine/identify the contents of the vials yet.
Also, in case he's forgotten, Malkith also has the token Oliver Bott left behind for Ananda and the scarred coin that will get him in to see General Mescher at Devil's Fork.

Gristav |

"Samaritha! I hadn't realized you were here, until I saw Braddon leaving. What's that? Inventory? ... oh yes! Horrible bother, but I suppose it must be done. I know I can count on you. Shall we, start with... freckles?"

Gristav |

Say, Braddon, it just occured to me. If you start counting freckles, you eventually get to a vermillion.

Gristav |

Whoa... that post, up there, was the 777th.
Just sayin'.
Is it ok to post sweeping OOC intentions here?
Gris will check on Larur, see what L knows of events, share what Gris knows, then try to study a spell into that empty 1st-level slot (Mount), at first in his room, but after a couple minutes giving that up and going to the sitting room.
If he's done studying, and no sign of the others, off to the docks. The staff flourished as nimbly as any cane...

Malkith Deraythen |

It looked like one of the most foreign alphabets available without going to something completely indistinguishable, like Korean or Arabic. I figure that as a language originating from an entirely different plane of existence, it should look as different as possible.

Gristav |

My Mrs. home tomorrow, 1st since 19th July (stroke, ICU, hosp, rehab), so please do forgive a certain sparceness or Spartan-ness for some days.
Heh.
This. Is. GRISTAV!

Joana |

I owe Mark an update for Phil, but it's getting to be dusk here and we're about to take the kids out trick-or-treating. I'll have it up later tonight.
I'll also make a summary post for Gristav covering his sweeping OOC intentions and consider him prepping his spell for the interim. He can jump back in whenever he's ready.

Joana |

I'll see your Ghostbusters, and I'll raise you a Macbeth. ;)
Really long day today, and it's after 2 AM now; I'll fully cop to putting up a placeholder just to say I posted. Will move things forward a bit better tomorrow (later today, whatever).
Which way are you headed to find Samaritha, Gristav? Where does he intend to look for her first?
Braddon and Malkith, from the groom's words, you'd expect to find the road Weatherby's traveling through Lubbertown to join onto the main road from the north. I don't want you to mistake the southern turn-off for the junction you're looking for. Any plans for what to do when you find him, or are you just going to wing it?

Gristav |

Have Braddon and Malkith ever taken the time to formulate a real plan?
Have any of us? Well, except for Phil, and the secret thorn on the rose of that attar.

Gristav |

Which way are you headed to find Samaritha, Gristav? Where does he intend to look for her first?
Leaving the back door of the Goblin, North two blocks, NW one block, W to the ferry, hoping Grimas might confirm or deny, not Samaritha's passage, oh no, that would be wrong... but rather the remaining credit on her account. :)
North past Weatherby's, not stopping unless discrete casual attention reveals a housefrau folding (or burning?) satin sheets against her sudden abandoned indigence. (Chivalry requiring discrete inquiry at that point, and KN:Local knowing where such infamous bedclothes might bring her the best price...)
On to Shoreleave, inquiring after a tattooed Varisi in traditional clothing ("Yes, I know, let me finish...", he grins), in company of a half-elf 'twice as wide as most, and three times as pretty'. And any persons they may have been in company of, or brought in.
This may well draw questions in turn. If that seems about to happen, Gristav will lead the trump of asking for the General.
If naught of that is aught of interest, then South and East to the Three-Billed Duck (as a landmark, but taking note of anything unusual or worrisome), then South to Zincher's Tenement and then back to the Goblin via the Arena/Bazaar.

Re: foot traffic, hoof-falls are the sirens of that age. Not that Gristav will abuse such, nor hazard pedestrians, but he and I did both expect the mount to speed things. If it will not, it's a waste.
No, he's still moving faster than he would on foot. And the next leg of the journey will definitely be faster on horseback, as the road up to Devil's Fork is much more lightly traveled. It's just that this is basically rush hour for the roads leading to the ferry, since everything this side of the Velashu closes at sunset; the further from the river he gets, the fewer pedestrians will be in his way.

Gristav |

Sorry for the public nuisance. I did not expect another crowd so soon after the last ferry left. Wise of Grimas to pass the yoke to an underling for rush hour. :)

Joana |

I'm moving Gristav around town one stage at a time to maintain some semblance of timing among the separated party. On to Zincher's Tenement next update!
I'm going to hold the scene with Weatherby until Monday to give Malkith a chance to have some input; the loreweaver's not usually available on the weekends. I got my map made, though, in case you guys can't convince him to come quietly. :)

Braddon Hurst |

No problemo. I'm not sure how you want to do the dice thing for bluff and intimidate. I'm happy to let you do the rolls, or wait until you call on me for one. If you want me to accompany dialogue with rolls of one kind or another, I'm happy to oblige, but usually I'll just wait until asked, even though that may skip some dialogue.

Joana |

If I think one is warranted and you haven't rolled it, I'll roll it for you. Since both Intimidate and Diplomacy require at least one minute of interaction, neither can come into play yet in this particular situation. I guess Bluff could be argued for, depending on exactly how "surrounded" Braddon is implying the scribe is. Since Dayn is on the other side of him, I hadn't really considered it a bluff, maybe more of an overstatement. ;)

[Agnt86]"Would you believe, an entire squad of the Elven Legion!...?"[/Agnt86]

Just saw the image, and I'm almost certain that in the theatrical version of Sargavan Red, Weatherby is played by Samuel L. Jackson. In fact, in my mind, I now pronounce Weatherby's name "Nathaney L. Weatherby".
^ the sort of nonsense that (p)rattles out of my mind.
