Ooh, he would be intimidating, wouldn't he? Braddon might have thought twice before heading out into the dark countryside to confront Samuel L. Jackson. ;)
I picture him a bit more as a Hugo Weaving type myself.

Phillip Hargreaves |

I promise I've a post inbound - it's just angst in another game is sucking my creativity from me at the moment. At least Phil is happily removed from the others so I'm holding up no-one but myself.
Joana - how are we doing synchronicity wise? - is everyone at roughly the same time.

Braddon Hurst |

Don't think I wasn't worried, especially when he didn't go down with Dayn's shot. First levels don't merely grunt when they get shot for 10 damage. I mean, yikes, there are 3rd level warriors that don't have 20 hit points. And here's me not using my bastard sword with two hands in case I kill him.
I knew it wasn't going to be a cakewalk when he started combat. Only characters with levels are dumb enough to think they can take out a group of bandits.
Speaking of levels.... :-)

Gristav |

Was that a set up for:
Speaking of dumb enough... :-) ?
Of course, narratively, misses and near-misses and all the HP until blooded are 'lucky misses'. So he's only 'lucky', not tough. We're supposed to be blind to such concepts as 'hit points'. And he wasn't narratively twisting out of the path of those arrows, while remaining mounted...
Then again, the wife did mention some former service...

Gristav |

Tempting as it is to say he's riding into the sunset with her...
He's taking her home to the Goblin. Please estimate for him remaining time on the Mount as they arrive.

Gristav |

Oy, that's a religious observance, it is! (And Gris has proven sincere at that.) Assuming you mean the kissing for luck.
Beyond that, the point is, 'maybe' also means 'maybe not'.
At least he's not already building the frame for their pictures. :)

Phillip Hargreaves |

I would have thought a kiss on the cheek is for luck... on the lips has different intentions? - regardless of how chaste you intend it. I'm reminded of a certain conversation in a movie about foot massages.
But perhaps I'm somewhat more a prude in real life than the Varisi are in game.

Braddon Hurst |

Hey, how come no one's picking on Braddon? He slept with two women in the same afternoon in the same bed.* He puts the both of you to shame. ;)
It's not a religious experience for Braddon. Just an awful lot of fun.
And don't think we haven't noticed the sheer abundance of willing ladies that have appeared to draw our attentions away from Samaritha. You'll have to work harder than that I'm afraid. :-)

Joana |

Hey, it is Riddleport where the largest temple belongs to Calistria.
Not to mention that I find the typical Paizo set-up where there's one beautiful, available (usually red-headed) female NPC per AP set up as the "reward" for some lucky roleplayer offensive. In my games, there are lots of different kinds of women with different ambitions and motivations, not just the Disney Princess option.
Sorry for the game-thread delay, but Braddon did demand the info dump. Got to get my Lil Scarlet dossier together. ;P

Braddon Hurst |

In my games, there are lots of different kinds of women with different ambitions and motivations, not just the Disney Princess option.
And Braddon will happily sleep with any he can. And being male, he will be admired and respected for his prowess and in no way be regarded as a slut. :-/
Though I can see that Samaritha's values may conflict with Braddon's lifestyle choices, which should be fun for those that aren't Braddon. :-)

Sorry about that. Braddon isn't the most patient guy in the world. And being young and enthusiastic....... he's looking for kicks. :-D

Braddon Hurst |

I'm beginning to get a little vicious with Braddon here, so let me know if I overstep any bounds. I've decided that his CN is going to manifest along the lines of him being actively good to people he likes, and actively evil towards people he doesn't. He may stoop to murder but I'll run it past you guys before he does anything that evil.

Gristav |

Proper [or at least, effortful) RP response in the AM when I can see straight. Mut for now, your answer: Gristav actually sees a risk of life in the unknowns he has to cypher with; the horse is named Hellbent. And he's riding it ii that fashion, and through the Boneyard.

Gristav |

What if we were only squeamish over little murders? Great, grand murders, I can see some of us going in for... like if Carbauxine gas is odorless, piping it into Zincher's office. Or if that old woman is found actually murdered, some carnival mirroring of her cause of death, perhaps, applied to whoever chose it.
So I guess it's not the little murder from which Gris squeams, it's the trite.

Braddon Hurst |

What if we were only squeamish over little murders?
Indeed. Apart from Phillip, the rest of us are of medium size. :-)
And while murdering an old woman's killer is something Braddon is likely to do, it wouldn't be clever or organised: it would be just a good old fashioned murderous rage.

Joana |

From a GM perspective, I'm liable to view cold-blooded, premeditated murder as a slip toward an Evil alignment.
Of course, then one has to define "murder." ;)
In many cases, I should think you guys would be able to goad the object of your animus into combat, in which case his death becomes a mere statistic. Suicide by adventuring party, as it were. You had to defend yourselves.
A truly poetic death, like the one Gristav proposes for Zincher, would obviously fall into the revenge clause supplied by the party Calistrian. You kill our friend, we kill you, preferably in a clever and ironic way. That's just justice being done.
Heat of the moment, you've got the sudden passion defense to fall back on.
I'm sure you guys can be creative. :)

Gristav |

Gris continues to ride further from Riddleport, going East.
His reasoning is that if the group encountered Weatherby, they would return the way they left, not the way Weatherby left.
I've not looked to see where the party is. If you'd prefer a meta-correct decision, do feel free to editorialize one. :)
Gris is deliberately not worrying about being a Hellbent hour from Riddleport in the middle of the night, and walking home through the Boneyard. Alone. Without his hat. Or his Disrupt Undead spell.

Joana |

Ethel's Stealth roll actually beat your 18 Perception, Mark, but as she was technically concealing herself from Liry and not from Phil, I don't think that ought to mean he lost sight of her. After all, she's selecting cover/concealment in relation to Liry, not to someone behind her.
Dayn will return to the others with the horses on Monday; I don't want to move any further without Malkith getting to have some input in the scene.

Gristav |

And here I thought that was another of the cast of NPCs.
Welcome, indeed, Javell! You'll perhaps remember Gunser? :)
Gristav is... not Gunser.

Joana |

Yes, everyone be nice to Javell! Mark and Thornborn know him already, obviously, and he and I have been in probably eight or nine PbPs together over the years. This is a difficult game to introduce a new character into, as all of you have good reason to be suspicious of outsiders, so I hope you'll try to find a way to make him welcome without metagaming that he's wearing a 'Hello, I'm the New PC' button.

Braddon Hurst |

Umm, yeah. Where did this idea come from that we welcomed each other?
Actually, the fact that he's an outsider is why we'd trust him- it's the only thing we all have in common. And these locals are just crazy. :-)
I thought Snake was an NPC too till I read this. Welcome sir. We are delighted to have you, not so much join us, but be near us, as we are to each other already. :-)

Malkith Deraythen |

I agree with Braddon. We aren't exactly warm and friendly towards the other members of our existing troupe. Malkith has developed a begrudging appreciation for Braddon's skills and what he considers recklessness, doesn't even have much of an opinion of Phillip by shear lack of interaction. I think it would be rather out of character for us as a whole to suddenly warm up to some new guy :)

Gristav |

What say you, Snake? The shorter trail, and maybe backup the larger party?
Gris knows they went that way, and expects they'd cleared the path for us, so he seems unworried.
