My bad, the page turn made me miss your last post Buzz. He doesn;t have local.

"I see something patroling the walls over there. Not sure what it is though. We should avoid conflict if possible."

Raising an eyebrow as he looks at Malok, Ivar finally shrugging, "Ok, we can try to avoid trouble. but how do you recommend we get inside the walls? Should we try and speak to the occupants and ask them to let us in?"

"Well now that I think about it we aren't very sneaky.. I just thought if we didn't alert the whole place it would be good. As for how to do that. I'm not sure.."

Haha yes, avoiding trouble really worked well for us in the past. I'll hold back and let you do the talking and avoiding, staying close to Ivar in case i get to cheerlead him again. says Lalali with a sarcastic smile.

It might be a good idea for Lalali to do a knowledge local check based on the description.

The fact is, I'm being nice trying to avoid you walking into an ambush since you don't really have a scout.

Seeing the odd creatures, Ivar elbows Lalali, pointing toward the creatures, "Do you recognize those thing?"

kn:local: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

Elbowed by Ivar, she answers:
What am i, your lexicon or teacher?

Charau-Ka CE Small humanoid.

They are evil money men who usually worship demons and happily eat sentients.

Their only special thing is the ability to go into a frenzy which acts like haste and they can throw anything with proficiency.

From your understanding, you believe negotiation would be futile.

If i'm no mistaken, those are Charau-Ka, evil little monkey men who usually worship demons and probably would eat you raw and alive, or cooked who knows. They can be pretty fast and throw all kind of things around. Most likely any negotiation would only be about on how they serve you and when... Perhaps we can go around and avoid them?

Your goal is in the walled outpost they are guarding. If you mean sneak inside, maybe, if you mean go around, no, this is your objective.

"Lead on."

Well then, Ivar come over here...

Lalali rolls up her sleeves and casts heroism, enlarge person and protection from evil on Ivar, given his consent and the foes being in timely reach of the latter two spells.

She herself will take up to the air with a fly spell, prefering to stay out of reach.

Cool!

Nodding, the enlarged, heroic, protected, and bark-covered Ivar rests his greatsword on his shoulder and begins to quickly move forward towards the wall, looking for a gap in it and the nearest monkey.

I guess he will take 10(21) on perception watching for the easiest place to scale or go through the wall.

You notice an area where there's a gap in the wall, but you also notice that there's a crude snare trap in it.

anyway around it? or to spring it? I forgot we don't really have a thief.

Stopping for a moment Ivar gestures at the trap, "Anyone want to give it a go?"

If you want a gap, there's a trap. The traps are purely mechanical. Alternatively, you can climb the wall, which is very old and pitted (easy enough climb check). However you'd be under attack (actually since nobody is a good sneak, you're probably be under attack at any approach).

"It's times like this that I wish that big monkey training back in that clearing with all the sleeping people worked out. Then we could just ask the big monkey to go talk to the little monkeys up ahead and have it tell them we're friends then maybe they would be our friends. Ivar do those ones look trainable? I always wanted a pet monkey, maybe I could ride on its shoulders. Can you train one for me?"

did Hindi disable the trap?

no

Lalali looks from Hindi to the now large Ivar, then nods in agreement.
I prefer flying to riding actually, but i can definately understand your notion Hindi. They are adorable in their own ways.

Flying in the air next to him, she rubs one of her long ears then puts a hand on Ivars shoulder.
Now Ivar, why don't you just smash it and then the wall? Or take a tree and lean it against the wall so the rest can climb over? Or lower a rope once you are over? Actually i could attach a rope while you busy them. Go now great warrior, some of those spells don't hold forever.

Nodding in agreement with Lalali, Ivar moves to the wall and begins to climb.

"Oh my goddess, look at him climb that wall, just like a monkey. I bet that impresses the monkeys and they want to become friends."

Yes, yes, monkeys everywhere. Now let's go follow him, i want to keep this monkey alive!

She flies off following Ivar in the air, shooing the rest of the group along, looking for hostiles from slightly above.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

I reckong all follow along and this triggers initiative or something.

I've put up a map of the outpost (Tazion). Indicate on the map where you are climbing over. The brown stuff is a tar pit and you obviously know that's to be avoided. The gaps are at S1 (but are trapped). The rest seems pretty easy to climb (it's a very old ruin).

Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

You find the climb laughably easy. (though I still need to know where you are doing it).

Since we don't have any real knowledge about this place and walking around it is really long, let's just randomly pick a direction to approach from.
Clockwise around the compass: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW
Random Direction: 1d8 ⇒ 5 South it is.
We approach from the South side.

I look up at the very high wall and fell like this is going to be super hard.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 hmmm, this seems really hard

"Can someone lower a rope and I can just tie it to myself and get some help up this thing?"

Actually that is a sufficient climb check. You are barely able to scramble over the ruined wall.

Inside there's more jungle as the ruins are quite overgrown. You can hear some ape men talking in the distance (from W).

Can I overhear any of the conversation and understand it?

Whispering to the rest of the group. "Do you guys want to go towards the talking sounds or try to keep quiet and avoid them?"

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

They are using a guttural form of polyglot, so you understand. They are basically just grumbling about things as soldiers are want to do. There's some comments about how Roagru is making us sit around this stupid ruin instead of roaming the jungle for fun and loot.

Hearing the sounds Ivar gestures toward his enlarged stature, "It would be a pity to waste this wonderful magic. Let's confront them. Maybe we can pick a fight."

Ivar starts looking for the nearest soldier ape to smash.

Map is up. You are in some dense brush which enabled you to get close enough to see what the monkey men are doing. The circle is the well they are standing around.

Absolutely not Ivar. You're entitled to go and smash some apes now.

Smiling at Lalali, Ivar burst through the brush, charging the nearest monkeyman, swinging his enlarged weapon at the simian.

In effect: Enlarge person, barkskin, heroism, protection from evil: charging AC 20/22 if evil, attack: Greatsword Weapon attunement, Power attack, Furious focus
attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30 for damage: 3d6 + 9 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4, 4) + 9 + 6 + 1 = 26

Ivar rushes up and chops a vicious gash into a monkey man, dropping to the ground.
