The native swamped with various reptiles goes down in a bloody heap.

Ivar swats his foe (who looks rather confused at the violence coming from his new 'friend') down in a single mighty blow taking out a large chunk of their torso.

Lalali wasted her spell, thinking she could of course talk to that person. How wrong she was. Time for violence.

Scorching ray: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 224d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 3) + 4 = 19 on 3 if i see him or whoever still stands.

A charred wreck of a human collapses to the ground. (hit, dead)

The last one attempts to kill Ivar some more.

to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 8 damage: 1d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (4, 2) = 18 hit

PCs again.

Hindi, is the life link up?

Getting hit in the back by an arrow, Ivar turns, seeing the archer on the other side of the glade. He lets out a snarl and begins moving toward their assalent sword in hand.

Combat over.

You are able to get your camp set up and sleep through the night without further interruption.

You continue your trek. A couple of days later you come across a section of the river where it widens, and there's a bunch of hippos frolicking.

However there's also a group of lizardmen hunter present who see you and prod a couple of bull hippos so they rush out of the water to attack you.

init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

What nice specimen...

A couple, does that translate to 2 or more? And are the lizards staying to enjoy the show?

frowning, as he sifts his sword off of his shoulder, "Once we kill the hippo's should we deal with the lizardmen?"

Couple means 2. The lizardmen are staying to watch the fun.

The attackers had human bane arrows. I believe 4 were remaining (total).

Your sheet says Glitterdust has DC 18. You didn't announce use of an arcane point, and 18 is what the numbers come to, so I'll use that.

will save: 2d20 ⇒ (12, 3) = 15 fail, fail (moot I suppose, but I'd prefer to understand why your number was off).

My mistake, forgot to announce the arcane point, probably a bit too tired^^. But that's where the 19 comes from, to prevent misunderstandings.

The two hippos stop charging since they can't see anything.

The two lizardmen toss javelins at Lalali for stopping their fun.

There is no combat map so I'll just assume I'm near enough to Lalali since we are always in the back of the group where it is supposed to be safe.

I move next to Lalali and cast a cure spell.

The Lizardmen do not get to see if their joke works, dying before the punchline.

Mh, i guess this joke is on them. Let's move on before those hippos can see again...

The hippos get a save next round, combat is not yet over.

Ivar smirks, "Nice job on the Lizardmen, do you think the Hippo's will charge?" Looking toward the others, he shifts his stance slightly lifting the sword over his head, waiting to see if the hippos continue their aggression.

They might, the spell doesn't hold that long. We could try to run you know...

Yeah i know they get a save and it's not over yet, hence my suggestion to leave quickly :D

"There is no reason to kill the beasts.. Let's go."

Malok will leave his summons behind directing them to not harm the Hippos but delay any chase they might give.

With the blocking serpents, escape is easy.

Nothing further occurs this day.

Further along your route you find:

The trees grow broader and taller here, their gnarled branches rising to a tangled canopy that blots out the sun. Digging into their roots, giant, parasitic corpse-flowers blossom across the forest floor. Littering the banks of the river are several humanoid corpses, their armor and bodies ripped apart as if by large claws. Suddenly, a series of loud slams and crashing noises echo through the jungle, sending small monkeys in the treetops screaming in all directions.

Malok casts Speak with Animals..

"Whatever this is, let me try and talk to it before you murder hobo.."

Looking at the number of dead corpes though.

"Perhaps we should try hiding first, then speaking if found, then murder hobo /run if necessary.."

Looking from giant, parasitic corpse-flowers blossom and the bodies ripped apart as if by large claws, to the small monkeys fleeing. He raises an eyebrow as Hindi comments about setting up camp. Then nodding his head in agreement with Malok when he speaks about hiding. Gesturing toward the corpse-flowers then the river he asks, "Any preference where we hide?" As he watches the forest to see what is coming toward them.

perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Yeah this does not seem like a talking situation on first glance. Perhaps i can charm one of whatever caused this, but the magic will wear off eventually. Hiding first seems good.

While you dither about what to do a giant ape comes crashing in from the jungle.

(that much talking is at least a round in time, so no prep for you)

Jealous?

Waiting sword in hand for the beasts onslaught, Ivar shrugs, then turning to Lalai-Re he smile, "Maybe!"

How do you train him with a sword? I went to this circus one time and they were using whips to make the animals do what they want. I can't wait to see how you train him with the sword. Yes, a giant gorilla chanting abracadabra in mezzo-soprano.
