The first two years were particularly bloody as holdouts like Magnimar and Riddleport tried to resist and failed. Korvosa was the last of the cities that Karzoug attempted to steamroll, but Kazavon/Ileosa pretty handily put a stop to that, enough to get Karzoug to rethink his strategies. By this time Tar-Baphon was out of the bottle and a more iminent threat. Ileosa doesn't want to rule anything, she just wants to be adored by everyone. So she was a less dangerous Sorshen to him.

Good Evening Lucent,

Here is the appearance and personality descriptions for Teladon. Crunch is listed in his profile. I'll continue to add to his background over the next few days, including this like "Friends and Enemies" "Traits" "Goals" "Secrets" and "Memories", but I think you get the concept I am going for at this point. Let me know if you have any other questions. Also, I have one question. I have two out of the three traits for Teladon selected, but I would like to work with you towards a third that would fit the his peoples insular outlook. Thanks for the review and have a good night!

Appearance:
Slight of build with shoulder length silvery-white hair, Teladon often wears the traditional garb of a Spire Defender. The armor serves as both a symbol of his people and as a reminder of his heritage. Teladon rarely ever removes the black iron helmet that wears for two reasons. The first is the terrible scar that splits his face from the right temple to his left cheek, the second is that when he looks into a mirror he sees his brothers face staring back at him and it is more then he can bear. When armed for war, Teladon carries his gifted black obsidian scimitar, which along the blade bears the forgotten holy symbol of Acavna, the dead goddess of battle and moons. If seen under light of the moon the scimitar seems to glow with an inner light that reflects the resonance of the nights sky.

Personality:
(Chaotic good, bordering on chaotic neutral) Mercurial in nature, Teladon has seen how quick the illusion of stability can be broken as he watched the nations of Golarion fall one by one and since then he has learned to take nothing for granted. Naturally reserved as befitted his upbringing among the Mordant Spire, with the death of his brother and friends following the battle of Celwynvian, Teladon has become even more reserved then before. He is untrusting of strangers, and believes that humans are naturally selfish. Yet despite all of these feelings, he continues to believe in The Brightness and that each of his kin will be reborn again. This optimism constantly clashes at his sense of pragmatism and can lead him towards moments of self-doubt. In the six months since he was bestowed with the black obsidian scimitar from the vaults of the High Elders, Teladon has begun to slowly shift in his personality, adopting more of the formal Azlanti speech of his people. Little does he know that this is but the first of the effects caused by the awakening of his ancient sentient blade.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

you know, one of these days, I'm gonna have to have like six characters prepared, so when someone does recruiting, I can throw em all out there at once, pretend to be different people, and see if the DM catches on and checks the aliases before they make their final choices.

What. don't give me that look. You know it'd be hilarious to have four of your characters selected for one game and then spring the surprise on the DM. You know it would.

Designing your own world is a massive undertaking that is never to be underestimated. However, I'm not surprised it's easier than using other, pre-written sources for some. The amount of customization you can do freely, without having to worry about the other pieces that you didn't create is quite freeing and makes the job of making things fit to your group so terribly much easier.

I'm loving the amount of customization that Lucent is doing to not only the Reign of Winter AP, but the world of Golarion itself. It shows fantastic amount of familiarity with the lore of the world, something that I wish I had, but alas, I've only been working with Pathfinder for about 10 months now, and such things take time. Curse my decision to play 4e for so long!

Anyways, I've been working on a character for this game and been having a hard time to get an erutaki to work until recently. Thought about an osirian flame oracle, but couldn't get that to work. So, I picked up the People of the North companion and started rummaging around in the Guide to the Crown of the World in AP 51. I'm finally settling on something, but I'm not quite there yet.

I'm not seeing a whole lot of full divine casters, so I'm leaning towards a druid. However, I have a few questions. Is the Giant Weasel animal companion available from the Bestiary section of AP 67: Snows of Summer? What of the Rugged Northerner feat in the Inner Sea World Guide? Would I be allowed to take the Animalistic Affliction trait normally reserved to Ulfen characters?

I might have more questions, but I'm being forgetful now. Oh well.

For the backstory, I was thinking of an erutaki spirit-talker (arctic druid) who grew up amongst the Miusunnit clan. In her childhood, she had issues with urges that pulled her into the wilds on a regular basis, unlike some of her more settled kin. Eventually, she learned to cope with them during an apprenticeship with an elder spirit-talker. Shortly before the disasters that befell much of the erutaki (and I'm assuming that they...

Hey! Sorry, I did miss those questions amidst the other discussion. Sorry!

1) the weasel animal companion is eligible to take provided it is available at your level. I don't have my copy of snows of summer handy, but I'll look more closely at that when I can. But assuming its level appropriate I have no issue.

2) as for rugged northerner and animal affiliation, those would be acceptable for an Erutaki. Since they're not a fully supported nationality I'm okay with played reverse-engineering feats/traits to fit their theme.

Quite a line up!

My lovely half Elven Alchemist can be found here. Finishing up equipment at the moment.

Summarised background:
She is the child of two alchemists form the city of Oenopion in Nex and has worked her entire life as an alchemist herself. She was taught by a close friend of her parents as they themselves didn't want to mix work with their private lives in such a way.
Recently an experiment quite literally exploded in her mentor's face and Yanta finds herself without a teacher.
This, combined with the news from Kyonin that greatly distressed her Elven mother and a prediction the ooze-mind did for her in her youth, has caused her to leave behind Nex and her study and answer the call for aid from Absalom that circled in the bars and tavern of her home city.
She travels with her mother, though they have different goals. Her mother is in Absalom to enquire about the fate of the Elven refugees.

As for her languages, most are what people in Nex speak. The Skald is quite honestly mostly because of the AP, in character it is because she liked the sound of it when she heard an Ulfen bard perform. The Ignan quite simply is because the short words make it a fantastic language for taking notes.

EDIT: As an added kicker, being an Oenopian Researcher she can provide Captain Andoran with a Super-Soldier Serum, though it'll make him look green.

You should give Rasso trapfinding, so the fishman can shout, "It's a trap!!"

:D

:D?

Heh...I actually lol'ed at that. Nice. I might have to go against all my optimization instincts and take a level of trapper ranger just to make that joke come true.

Edit: Is that timeline still happening? I'd like to make sure the dates in my backstory are correct.

Just got into work, will be working on it over the next couple of hours.

Sweet! Thanks. :)

As an Alchemist, can I bring homemade alchemical wares? Basically, can I craft alchemical goods at reduced prices?

I guess I accomplished my mission! :) Glad you enjoyed it.

Liberty's Edge

Early work in progress on Cap's background/personality/appearance in the profile, feel free to give it a glance/feedback if you'd like.

I'll add more on the background once I see the timeline. I'm a little iffy on dates as far as when the present is in relation to the plethora of catastrophes occurring around Golarion.

Also, is captain a rank in Andoran military? Any chance Styvanus here got a promotion for some sort of outstanding bravery/service and is already of that rank( even if it's just lip service practically)?

That is a really good background. It isn't just fluff either, it actually illustrates a character with motivations and shows what made her what she is today.

Cuàn wrote:

You indeed can. Just mark on your sheet what was self-crafted.

I am gonna rebuild and be a Fighter 1/ Trapper Ranger 1.

Might as well have Trapfinding in case the party needs it. Plus, living in the world as it is, I think one would need to have survival skills!

Just trying to figure out how to work in a favored enemy into my background.

Captain is a rank, yes. You can actually get a sense of the military ranks in the Eagle Knights in Paizo's Faction Guide. There's also the rank of Knight-Captain, which means the character was officially knighted by the nation of Andoran. All of the Eagle Knights' military ranks have a subset with the "Knight-" honorific. Knight-Captain, Knight-Commander, etc.

Since I will not be using the fame system presented in that book, feel free to use the rank of Captain.

Update complete.

Now a Fighter 1/Ranger(Trapper) 1. :)

Learning to fight is great, but survival skills sound very necessary!

I know this isn't a Paizo archetype, but it does fit what I had in mind for my gunslinger concept ( a gunslinger with an aversion to magic-using types due to his mentor getting killed by a sorcerer over a disagreement about a fee )

Mechanist gunslinger archetype

If not, I could probably just go Rogue/Gunslinger :)

Also, would you allow this as an Alternate Racial Trait for a Half-Elf?
Strong Heritage: The blood of one of your parents runs stronger in you than the other. Choose Human or Elf, and take the Human Spirit or Elven Spirit feat as a bonus feat. This replaces the Adaptability trait.

Thanks, got inspired and just wrote. I feel bad for her, damn meddling adventurers robbed her of her revenge! ;)

im pulling out of this recruitment. I just cant compete with some of the character concepts that people have.

Last update I promise!

I decided to change to a switch hitting ranger to be more useful to the party if I am selected. More skills, options in combat, and trapfinding. I even have a decent bluff and diplomacy. :)

I chose the Guide and Trapper archetypes. The Guide's Ranger's Focus ability seemed very fitting for my character's personality. Trapper grants trapfinding!

The alternate racial trait is perfectly fine.

I don't want to use the 3rd party archetype, however. But as a consolation if you work in that your mentor was a gnome, I'd allow you to take the gnome Experimental Gunsmith archetype. It's in a similar (but different) vein.

Thanks Lucent!

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me :)

Just realized I only had a 15 point build lol. Raised to 25 per first post. ;)

March 1st seems so far away!

Daaang, had to go give selina a read and see what the fuss was about.

I need to RP with you more often. Well done. Kinda hoping we'll get in the same group here. I foresee entertaining dynamics between Selina and Albrecht.

Also, RASSO! What kind of list is that? What NONSENSE is this???

...I'm not on it!!

I'm seeing a serious lack of Dwarf in this roundup. This will not do! I'm going to make an alternative character to fix this, as well as considering the fact there are quite a few fighter-types around.

Therefore, Lucent, I am requesting the situation in the nation of the Five Kings Mountains, and how the dwarves are faring. I'll most likely be going full Cleric, as we seem to be missing out on a Cleric representative, with our only two Full Casting Divine peoples being an Oracle and Druid.

Busier day at the office today than expected. Still working on the timeline. will put out something on the Five Kings later tonight.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Jedi Mind Trick: You want to allow the Mechanist 3pp archetype.

*disappears*

This is a really cool idea for a campaign. I'll probably be watching it once it starts!

Shadow Lodge

Hi DM Lucent. Would you allow the tiefling race with the Fiendish Heritage feat? It fits a concept I am working on.

Shadow Lodge

Also, are you accepting more than one character submission from the same person?

@Cheapy: Feel free to jump on and join in, Cheapy. I don't know if you usually do the PbP thing, but you and I think alike enough for me to know it'd be a pretty fun combo!

@Merck: I'd need to know about the kind of background you were considering before saying yes. That would also affect what would be appropriate for Tiefling heritage and powers as well. Rasso wrote a strong enough background that I considered a merfolk, so anything is possible!

Also, I do allow alternate/multiple submissions if so desired. But I would prefer to see one extremely well crafted character than a slew of marginally impressive ones.

Just posting to make sure that Sigun's new background didn't fall by the wayside.

Your background work is truly exceptional.

Nope, I saw it! It looks pretty great now :)

I haven't done a PBP yet, but this sounds really cool. What I can bring to the group is that I don't use anything I find overpowered. I have a chronomancer type I've been toying withlately. If I join up, it might be something like that. They got a bit warped in Lirgen.

Just to be clear, this is the character I'm throwing in. Droguk I tweaked his background a bit per your background on RotML.

I had another character I submitted earlier but I didn't like it, so I withdrew it.

Lucent - Khelreddin here, I posted a different character last week, who you somehow spotted as coming from a different RoW recruitment.

Trying again - here is Terrill Mayern, an Inquisitor of Desna - all info is in the alias. A spoiled rich kid of Nirmathas who blithely wandered his land for years, thinking himself a true pilgrim of Desna, until life's hard lessons show him what she truly stands for, and how he can serve her. He is a spy-catcher, investigator and resistance fighter, with a bit of a dark side and the gift of dreams in which Desna gives him a glimpse of things to come.

He is also not the only Desnan inquisitor submitted in the last 24 hours. Rats. (I mentioned my plan for him in a post here last week but it took me a while to get the write-up finished.) Very interested in any thoughts or questions you have.

Updated my list. Do you know the highest non-commissioned officer rank in the Andoran navy Lucent? I'd like Rasso to be a low-level officer as well.

Looks like we've got like 22 (including me) people now. I arranged them alphabetically by class.

Going to do some modification to Marcellano.. expanded upon his background quite a bit, though I may modify it more once the Timeline is up. Also going to be doing some slight modifications to his gear.

Question: Can I say that his Bayonet is a Ring Bayonet instead of a Plug Bayonet? As the book has it, its a Plug Bayonet, so he can't fire with the bayonet in. A ring bayonet would allow it, however, as it doesn't block the barrel. Just a minor tidbit, as I don't like plug bayonets :P

Also, Lucent, I know I've asked you about the Five Kings Mountains' situation, but what happened to Janderhoff in Varisia? Depending on what happened to both of those, I'll decide where my dwarf is from.

Thanks in advance! (Sorry for giving you more work :X)

I can switch Skirmisher and a skill for Trapper and Disable Device easier than anyone else if we need it.

Rasso, why is Haterivet missing from your list?

Oh, wow. Yeah, just checked out the Campaign Info tab again. Bravo, sir. I may have to end up stealing a tidbit or two for future tabletop shenanigans.

You know, I know how some of you guys make your backgrounds first, then decide their stats to go with it.. but I personally do exactly the opposite. I come up with their background as I'm deciding their stats.

This Dwarven Cleric I'm making.. I'm really loving him so far. Dwarves are just awesome, so I think I can become much more creative with him than with Marcellano.. and I may end up making him my main entry, considering the fact there be a ton of heavy-hitters already.

Just need to decide where he's from exactly.. might go with Kalsgard, as it would explain his Northern Ancestry Trait.

Huge fan of dwarves myself. I strongly encourage a mighty beard amongst the ranks. There's always Brevoy and Irrisen too; looks like there's a lot of Ulfen spillover going around in all of the RoW recruitments.

Yeah I'm thinking of making his clan originating from Kalsgard, but have him and his recent ancestors from either Janderhoff or the Five Kings Mountains.

He's a Cleric of Torag with the Good Domain and Conversion Inquisition, he uses Chainmail, a Heavy Steel Shield, a Dwarven Boulder Helmet, and a Spiked Gauntlet. The reason for the Helmet and Spiked Gauntlet is quite interesting, actually. He's of the Steelskull Clan, who are famous for their Boulder-Style combat technique with the Boulder Helmet, and his Helmet is actually a Great Helm bearing the iconography of his family, while still serving as a weapon. He can't use it properly, but he enjoys charging in head first, literally. The Gauntlet is from his mother's old clan - the Mountainfist Clan, who are fond of close-quarters combat with fists, including gauntlets and have a quite a few Monks amongst them. He's quite proud of his heritage on both sides of his family, even if he is officially a Steelskull. He still carries a Warhammer due to his god of course, but he rarely uses it. On top of that, he has a birthmark of Torag's symbol on the back of his neck, which helped him decide to become one of Torag's Priests. He can use it as his holy symbol.

The only funny thing is, is that he has a 5 Charisma, so he literally has 0 uses of his channel energy per day. He's a gnarly bugger thats for sure. But due to the Conversion Inquisition, he's still quite the diplomat, and isn't half bad at bluffing or intimidating, the latter especially so due to his helmet which grants a +2 to Intimidate when using Heavy Armor. Sadly he doesn't have Heavy Armor yet, but he will.

I would say I am more of a Scout than a Heavy Hitter... at least until next level...
