The game will be going on a Temporary Hiatus as of today.
Right now, I have a week left in Korea. In that time I need to finish my audition tape, finish selling my stuff/mailing it home/packing up my life and say goodbyes to my friends here. After that I'll be travelling through Japan. After that I'll be visiting my girlfriend's family and then finally I will be home for the summer.
I've been trying to run my games up to the last day, but this game has just been dificult to write. I can't make up encounters on the fly or with little prep work and while I can see the overall story, finding ways to make this a fun adventure and not just my choose your own adventure is getting dificult. In short: writer's block.
So I'm putting the hold on a little early for this one. I'll take some time to plot and think and we will get back to it when I get back.
Keep an eye on this thread around March 1st to March 11th.
Thank you for understanding (I hope)

Hey guys! It's great to see pretty much everyone still interested. I'm back in Canada now, finally starting to get over Jet lag, and almost ready to start this game back up. I'm going to wait one more day (as of this posting) before an update, just to get my notes in line, and to give anyone who hasn't posted a last minute chance to catch up, or push against the DM rails, :p
May the Force live long! or.. something like that.
DM Rennick |
I am travelling this weekend, probably won't be posting until Tuesday because of this.
On top of this I was accepted to an international grad school today... kind of been a shellshocked whirlwind of a day, hence no post today, sorry folks.
DM Rennick |
Alright, I'm trying to get a sense of how to keep this game going...
As far as I can tell, We still have Aran and Zee as players... maybe Cordal?
I understand why this happened, I take responsibility for it and don't hold anything against those players we've lost. But I think we need to consider options.
Option A: Stick a fork in it and call it done. Pack up, move on and I will eventually start a new PbP... This is the option I don't like.
Option B: I recruit some new players and we keep going. This means we need to pick a basic idea of what direction we want this game to go in, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Do we keep on the rising Resistance thread, do Aran and Zee break away for Fringe, trying to put as much distance between them and the Empire and Resistance as possible?
what do you guys think? I'd like some thoughts before I put up a recruitment thread.
Cordal Mhoy |
Cordal's still here, but everyone else seems to have disappeared in the confusion, and I have no idea how our entrance and Aran and Zee's deal intersect.
I guess option B.1 could involve having everything go pear-shaped and only Aran and Zee make it to the shuttle where Cordal is holding the entrance, waiting for the exit. They board as explosions go off, we fly off and have to figure out our next move having bungled the first mission.
DM Rennick |
See Cordal, you are the hitch in all this, :p
Aran and Zee are on a completely different mission than you are.
The good news is I just need to get you off the prison ship.
:p The bad news is I need to get you off the prison ship and not just ignore it.
Which is fine, I can work with that. Waiting to hear what Zee and Aran say.
And Cordal, thanks for sticking with us.
ZCC or 'Zee' |
My vote depends on how your time will be when you hit the UK.
If you've got the time to run the game then maybe a bit of a fresh start will work.
I like Zee but he is built to work inside of a group with some combat power. He's a specialist skill monkey and not a fighter type and doesn't work well if he's thrust in combat situations.
Aran Fin |
Well, 'being done' is untenable.
Rebooting isn't that bad but I do have to laugh a little because that would be the third time roleplaying Aran somewhat reluctantly taking up arms against the Empire.
I think I like the direction we were going. Keep on kickin' with the alliance, and the prison mission being a failure (or just a couple of our own not coming back) is some good drama.
We tie up the current business and it's a pretty good chance to introduce new players (new recruits, heck maybe from the prison ship?), so I do like Option B best.
DM Rennick |
If we were to reboot, it'd be a completely different game. I would probably set it in around the KoTOR games, with enough space that I could do our own thing.
Still I'm happiest with continuing from where we are and getting in some new blood (Aran you and I think alike, prisoners is just what I was thinking)
I'm going to get a recruitment thread up monday and an update, The update may be late monday or Tuesday, just so I can get everything set and get Cordal towards you know... surviving. :p
Oh, and on Zee's point. I have no idea what is going to happen to these games when I start my masters. I'm hoping to continue them but I honestly can not promise that for sure. Still I won't be leaving for that until September.
Janus Marr |
Hello all, and thank you for welcoming me in, Rennick!
It's a pleasure to be here amongst you all, and I look forward to being here amongst you all and spreading forth some Light into the darkness.
... Yeah. But in all seriousness, I'm glad to be here. This'll be my first PbP Saga game, and my second in total, so feel free to hand me advice!
Also:
I understood that'd all be gone. I figured it was taken and put somewhere on the ship!
Also, are there any other optional rules I need to know before we go on? I'm eager to see where we go from here, so I wanna make sure I've got it all straightened out!
DM Rennick |
Haha, beaten to the punch but I want to welcome Janus and Jarl to the game.
You two will have your debuts in the next update.
And as far as I remember no, there aren't any optionals.
Oh, Cordal! With this latest update you are back in the action.
DM Rennick |
Jarl and Janus - I'm sorry you guys aren't in this update. Due to some really personal stuff in my home life I haven't had much time for gaming over the past couple of days, (though things have sorted out, I should be back to top speed tomorrow) And I didn't get to update my games till much later than I wanted to today.
The short of it is I want to give you guys good entrances and would rather wait a little bit, rather than half-assing it when I'm falling asleep on my keyboard.
DM Rennick |
So you know what's a piss off. Writing up a huge update that deal with combat, multiple locations and the introduction of our last character. Coming back the next day and finding out that somehow only two words posted. >_<
I'm going to try and get you guys updated by tonight, but I wasn't planning on a long post tonight. Will try my best and if not I'll have it up by tomorrow during the day.
DM Rennick |
"hey! where are these discussions we were told were coming?!"
Sorry for not posting when I said I would, I've been down and out with a broncial flu that's had me floored for a few days now, and still pretty bad.
I'm just going to jump to the meat of things and ask people for what they think. My new job is doing set-ups, take downs and serving for events and banquets at my city's casino. What this means is that my work schedule is hectic, and not on any sort of a regular basis. I could work 7 days a week one week and 1 day the next, I could work a 5 hour shift one day, then work a 19 hour shift the next (this has already happened.)
I can't keep a day to day game going right now, I just can't. So our options are these, as I see em.
We call it quits.
We reduce the posting rate to once or twice a week, and every needs to accept that I can't always say when those updates will come.
This game in particular, I'm torn on. I'm having a hard time plotting it, I'm not sure why, and maybe having a few days between updates is all I'll need for it. But it really is you guys and the support shown that's kept me from just closing this one down.
Alright, so what are people's thoughts?

Well, the first PbP I joined on Paizo has managed to turn into a rate of a post a... really, really long time, and I'm still soldiering on there. If you think you can live with it, I'm sure I can.
As for a new campaign, it'd be kinda blah to give up on Aran again but if that's the consensus I could live with it. (Also I love Zee).
