Kel's eyes flutter as his aura flares, a muttered prayer on his lips to Apsu for strength of spirit as he casts Castigate. "Waybringer show us your favor and bring unto this abomination the fear he enjoys wielding against others!

Caster Level check to beat SR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Bah!

(On the off chance that his SR is 12 or below, DC 17 will save: fail and he has to cower in fear for several rounds, pass and he's shaken for 1 round)

Nope, I was a dummy and used it during the mass combat section of the scenario.

"Your prayers are feeble, priest." the fiend mocks Kel, before swooping in to attack, not Nemesis, but Oret!

Flaming Spear on Oret: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

The Abadaran ducks the swipe of the spear, but finds his own blow blocked by a shield of force before the warlord springs back to the ceiling.

If I can change my action I noticed I have a fly scroll so I need to use that. So if I can will use the scroll (move action to get it) after a 5 foot step( step back first in case he has something that can reach me) away from Brae-Hagen and read the scroll( Standard action). Restart spell dance as a swift action

"ALL IS TO ASH!!!" Bellows Nemesis as she continues to brandish her unholy symbol.

Channel Negative Energy (excluding party), DC 17 Will save for half: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9

This time, the negative burst strikes the warlord hard, and he glares daggers at Nemesis, but does not fall. He does, however, briefly lose concentration on maintaining his position, dropping down almost to the floor.

Dryden has already declared his actions for last round. He is welcome to use his fly scroll this round. I did forget the fly checks for being damaged, so Nemesis' channels have brought him to floor level!

I am apparently even more of a moron - I forgot that I have spell penetration so that should have been a 14 to beat his SR last turn...

Kel gnashes his teeth as his prayers to Apsu are quieter this time, pointing his hand towards the fiend as three Barbed Chains burst from the ground to strike at him!

(Since he's flying and can't be tripped, the chains will all try to attack - if I'm incorrect and he can be tripped, these will be trip attempts first and then attacks after if he is successfully tripped)

Chain 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Chain 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Chain 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Damage 1: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Slashing (if a hit)
Damage 2: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Slashing (if a hit)
Damage 3: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Slashing (if a hit)

...really?

If any of those deal damage, the warlord must make a DC 17 Will Save or be Shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds.

Kel will then take a five foot step between Nemesis and Dryden.

Also, a note, GM - Kel has Deathwatch active, so if the warlord gets down to 3hp or lower, he'll know.

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

o.O He is still flying, just low to the ground. He sees your trip attempts and will not make it so easy on you. Although given those rolls, maybe he should have.

Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

One of the summoned chains slices a thin cut along the warlords face, which causes him to snarl, but there is less confidence in his growl.

Oret's mighty blow connects solidly with the warlord's jaw, snapping his head to the side! Almost immediately the fiend recovers, turning to face the oread again, the rents in his cheek not quite as deep as the blow suggested.

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

Dryden slashes once, causing the general to dodge aside, then slashes twice, catching the fiend in the throat. Brae-Hagen chokes, seemingly trying to form words, perhaps a curse, then pitches forward to the ground. As the blood pools around the fallen body, flames burst out all over the exposed flesh, slowly consuming it.

Combat over. What does the party do?

A sigh of relief flows through Oret's face. "A hard fought, with sacrifice as well, we must not let this be in vain for our fallen. Perhaps to bring his body into the heart of the war, will demoralize the enemy, and give confidence to our allies." Oret boldly suggest.

He will also make it a point to heave and carry the body of our fallen back to base.

The immolation appears to be occurring faster than a natural fire would consume a corpse. Oret estimates it will be ash in mere minutes.

Kel looks around a bit at Oret's recollection of earlier words, "Not to be crass...but this basstard did kill two of our friendss...would burning defenestration have the desired effect?"

"If nothing else, perhaps it serves the purpose." Oret bluntly replies in favor of Kel's idea and would proceed to doing the deed, unless someone violently objects, regardless of how much burn he would take. He eyes taking the body to the cliff edge, the mouth of the monument, and would scream a certain variation of bloody murder and justice is served at the top of his lungs as the body is flung towards its inevitable demise.

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

Fire Damage, No Save: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 5) = 15

As Oret lifts the burning body, the fire scorches his flesh. Dropping it down the ladder to the second floor, it lands with a heavy thud.

Let me know how you proceed.

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

Keep in mind you've taken 15 points of damage barring any resistances, and still haven't gotten the body to the cliff.

Kel will follow behind Oret, and, while not physically strong enough to help move the immolating body, he can help keep Oret from suffering in the process.

Kel spontaneously converts Bonehaker into Cure Moderate Wounds:
2d8 + 7 ⇒ (6, 8) + 7 = 21

He will also look to the others, "I don't supposse one of you might help us before there is nothing left of this fiend to show to his troopss in the canyon below?"

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

Looking at Kel's spells remaining, I'm going to call it good. I doubt Oret will go unconscious with a dedicated healer backing him up.

With a solid shove as the flames lick at the oread's stony flesh, the corpse of Brae-Hagen crashes through the right eye of the demonic facade. The burning halo turns it into a comet, streaking down to land in the melee at the bottom of the cliff. Demons and tiefling footsoldiers alike recoil from the body as it crumbles to ash.

Silver Crusaders, now is the time to make that speech! Intimidate or Perform (Oratory), your pick.

Along the way, Oret thanks Kel for his assistance.

Oret grunts as he heaves the body through eye, makes his way towards the end of the cliff and raises his voice to his physical limits.

"Hear this all! Let it be known today that the Pathfinders have taken down the murderous fiend Brae-Hagen! Let this be a testament to justice! And know that this Justice does not end here. Where there is darkness, balance will be restored!" He ends his oratory by raising his weapon in the air, as if to gather the support of his allied troops.

The battlelines waver at the magically amplified proclamation issuing from the massive jaws of the bunker, but stay strong. Oret sees the biggest disruption around the disintegrated body of the warlord, as the rest of the army does not seem to fully comprehend the results of the cliffside battle.

Kel will try to add force of personality to Oret's speech, using his gifts from Apsu to blast four Scorching Rays out of the eyes of the bunker for dramatic effect!

Hoping that the scorching rays and the below intimidate roll can aid Oret?

"Your warlord's arrogance was his undoing! The gods of good and law have seen him slain and his body rendered to flaming ash! You will all suffer the same fate if you continue to stand before uss!"

As the Pathfinders vent their defiance through the magically enhanced portal of the bunker, the demonic armies appear to realize the momentous events that have just transpired. Battle lines begin to break, and within a quarter of an hour, the Army of the Open Road is chasing the routing demons into the hinterlands.

A short while later, Warmaster Farabellus greets the somber procession of the returning strike force. "Congratulations, Pathfinders." he says, his smile fading from the boisterous grin to a sympathetic curve at the sight of the fallen. "Your actions have turned the tide to full on victory, and our forces have a clear march to Jormurdun. As we move to claim the sky citadel, I expect your sister team of agents will be neutralizing the masterminds Thurl and Tancred, having tracked them down while you were engaged. The Society and our allies are in your debt for the sacrifices made."
