Smith then says to the Steward, "Get the first aid kit, hopefully it has some smelling salts in it to wake up the pilot who is unconcious."

To Ward and Nat, he says, "Glad you'se rocked up."

I am having fun mixing new england and rhodesian slang...

Savage Rifts RotRwT

A crackling sound comes over the headset as Timothy moves one of the pilots out of his chair and takes the controls. The yoke is heavy and no matter how much you attempt to level it, the plane lists to the side. You are however able to slow its descent, giving you more time to deal with the pilots.

"PanAm 237, this is Karachi Control. Copy mayday. We have you at 12000 feet, bearing 250 at 350 knots, can you confirm?"

Meanwhile, Ward checks on the pilots one at a time. Each one is breathing very shallow and has a low pulse. Make a Medicine/ Diagnosis check please.

As Natalie recovers from her predicament, some of the passengers are getting more restless. One of them, a tall olive - skinned man with a dark scraggly beard and a heavy accent, mistakes you for a stewardess and begins a determined march towards you. "What is happening? ! We have a right to know! " The other passengers add to his query. .

and says, "Roger, confirm heading and altitude. Something must be causing a problem with the flaps. Karachi control, I have never flown a plane before. What are your instructions, over?"

This reminds me of the bundy episode of the Unit...

Dead or no, Jason stripes one of the pilots, the one that looks to have about the same size clothes as him, of his uniform and puts it on. "I'm going to pose as a pilot to ease the passengers."

Jason exists the cockpit, "Hello, everyone. I am Captain Ward. There is a minor technical malfunction in the control systems. Is anyone here a doctor? One of the other pilots was injured and requires assistants, but I have a man in there who will get us on the ground safely. If you have any more questions, I'm here to answer them."

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

Natalie notes the unconscious two, a concerned look on her face. When Jason starts the bluff, she steels herself to go along with it, if needed. He beat her to the lie, so the least she can do is back it.

is my red cross manual in storage, or in overhead? Might be a little bit of help if I can get to it.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Sorry if I stole your spotlight, but I figured I'd make a better liar right now, and I knew you had the Red Cross thing going, so I thought you might have some medical expertise. I only now realized you don't :/ I hope there's no hard feelings. Plus, it's the 80s, so they are more likely to believe that a guy is a captain than a woman. Sad fact of life that people treat women that way :(

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

no worries at all, Jason!

Savage Rifts RotRwT

*rolls some dice behind the screen* Haven't watched the Unit, but heard it was a decent show.

Natalie remembers that her manual is in her carry-on bag above her seat, which she will have to work her way back to.

The passengers look incredulous at Ward, but they seem to believe him. A flurry of questions and statements bombard you, some in broken English, many in foreign languages. The ones you can understand..

"Will we get there on time?"
"Will we be reimbursed for this?"
"Oh thank you. Allah be with you."
"As long as we get there safely."
"Never flying this airline again."
"You don't look old enough to fly."
"Who is flying this plane?"
etc..

Meanwhile..
"Control copies." There is a pause. A very long few seconds later, another voice comes on.

"Pilot, this is Kareem Almuhed. I fly for Pakistan International. Control tells me you know some basics about instrument reading. I can help you, but I need to know if you have someone trying to revive the pilots."

At that moment, the Steward returns with the first aid kit, as requested.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

We will be delayed, but the extent of which I do not know. You will all be reimbursed as per company policy, with a 50% bonus reimbursement as well. Those of you who fly this airline again will get a free ticket as well, as a show of good faith. The auxiliary pilot is flying us down right now. I am more than old enough to captain this plane, thank you very much. And Allah be with you all. Now, I ask again: Is anyone here a doctor? A nurse? A lifeguard? Anything? Anyone?

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Through the headset Smith says, "Roger, we have someone looking at the pilots. Could you assist?"

Then he switches to the intercom to speak with Ward and says, "Captain Ward, please report to the cockpit...."

To the steward, "Captain Ward will handle the pilots..."

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

Natalie manages a grimace as she looks at the two downed pilots. "I've got that red cross manual in my carry on, it's bound to help. I'll be right back." She gives an encouraging nod to Jason as she makes her way back to her seat to retrieve her carry-on luggage.

Dex 1d20 ⇒ 13

Either way, she prepares for the possibility of several items coming down out of the cargo, considering the bumpy terrain.

If I can shift to 'fight defensively' after I get to my seat, I'll do so. I just picture everything falling out of the hatch!

Savage Rifts RotRwT

"Copy pilot. Going to guide you in as best we can. First thing. ..", Kareem goes through a series of checks with Smith and continues to give instruction as to how to land a Boeing 707 when you've never flown one before. I'll need a series of checks here shortly

Natalie manages to get to get seat and retrieve the needed manual without much fuss. As she arrives back to Ward, the steward says, "I have some training in first aid, but it was a two week course."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Jason reports to the cockpit and takes a seat as Smith's copilot, I'm not such a good doctor. I'll let the red cross agent and first aid knower get the serious business done, and I'll just play pilot. Now, anything you need of me? Maybe the air conditioner controls?

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

Natalie opens up the manual, "I'm a liason, not an aide, but at least I should be able to lend a hand. Captain Ward can see to the passengers if they act up. We'll do what we can for the pilot."

She looks into the manual, and moves to aid the steward.

I'll aid another, and if the manual gives a gear bonus, I'll give it to the steward of course. I said to myself, 'should I get Medicine?' and I said, 'I'm sure someone'll have it.' Sure wish I had taken feat training : bandage for at least a mild bonus!

Aid another! 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Smith continues to keep the plane steady and says, "Just revive one of them and get him to do this. I was an airborne ranger not a pilot... "

Savage Rifts RotRwT

As one of the pilots starts to come to, Smith thinks he finally has the hang of flying. The pilot, though somewhat groggy, gets up and takes a seat next to him, after shooing Ward out of the way. "I.. I don't know who you are, but thank you. Let's get these people on the ground safely and I will make sure PanAm thanks you personally." He doesn't wait for a response and puts on a headset and starts speaking to ground control. After that, he starts ordering Smith to push some buttons and turn some dials in order to right the plane.

The steward continues to try to revive the other two pilots with Natalie watching on.

As Ward gets up, he notices someone in the back of the plane, pushing his way past the other passengers towards the front, very much in a hurry...

Razor:

Director Chavez was never a directly nice man, so when he offers you a cup of coffee during your briefing, you are genuinely suspicious. "Razor? Interesting. I'm sure I'll hear the details later. I've just sent three agents on a gathering mission to Afghanistan. They need a babysitter to make sure they get home safe with the cargo. You're it. As soon as you arrive, make contact, meet with the local ISI representative and be on your way with the mission. The details are in the dossier in front of you. You leave tonight." He doesn't say much more as he turns and leaves the briefing room, a single file folder is on the table in front of you.

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Smith does as he is bidden and says to the pilot, "What the hell happened?"

He looks at Ward and hands him his Gerber Mk 2 combat dagger, which was taped to his leg, "Take this, something ain't right on board."

Savage Rifts RotRwT

The pilot looks at Smith. "One moment we were going through approach procedure and the next, we all started feeling drowsy. We tried to fight it off...I was the last to go down."

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Smith crinkles his nose and says, "Did you have any strange taste in your food?

Smith then talks to ground control "We want you to quarantine the plane. Seems there was a murder attempt on the pilots, over!"

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

Natalie's relief is apparent, though she wonders exactly how much she did to help, and moves to take care of crowd control for the moment. She keeps a watchful gaze on the crowd, though she didn't see what Ward sees, Timothy's comment puts her on guard. "You may all relax, it seems the co-pilot was simply hypoglycemic, and was low on sugar. PanAm appreciates your civility and composure."

She stands at the entry to the cabin itself, unarmed.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Jason takes the dagger and walks slowly through the plane towards the man, "The other pilot is awake now, and is getting us on the ground. There is nothing to worry about.". He tries to simply blend in as he approaches the man and tries to conceal the dagger as well.

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

Natalie eyes Jason as he steps past. While unsure of what his intentions are, she can gather that he's got an objective.

Keeping my eyes on him!

Savage Rifts RotRwT

Control comes back with "Copy pilot, alerting local authorities now. "

The other pilots start to come to and the one flying the plane answers. "We each had something different to eat, and none of us felt ill, just very tired. "

With the plane back under control, most of the passengers attempt to return to their seats, except for the one pushing his way to the front.

The passengers comply, leaving Ward facing him in the aisle.

"I don't know who you are, but you are interfering in the Great Jihad. This plane is mine and we are all going down with it. Now get out of my way!"

Okay, just wanted to clarify, as it matters with initiative and such.

The terrorist doesn't look surprised as Ward comes in with Smith's blade in an upward thrust. He steps to the side, as much as he can, flipping his own knife to a combat hold, rather than a threatening hold.

I hope I am okay to start posting in here. Thought Bloodmoon gave me the go ahead.
Meanwhile thousands of miles away and a few below...

Johnny Macomb waits until Chavez leaves the briefing room to rifle through the mission folder. He takes his time reading through each agents description. The profiles are not long and consist mainly of physical descriptions and head shots (the kind that don't leave behind a bloody mess). Johnny whistles through his teeth when looking at Natalie's photograph. That's one fine looking agent He thinks to himself as he reads about her skill set. When he gets to Ward's picture and description he nods slowly. Is this that guy Ward trying to work off his Daddy issues. Motivation to bleach his father's transgressions could get us all in deep trouble. Now this one can be useful if it comes down to a shoot out he thinks as he reads through Agent Smith's skill set. At least I won't have to babysit THAT much. Now who is it I am supposed to contact
Razor leans back in his chair as he reads through the dossier on the local ISI agent he is to rendezvous with. As he does his mind goes rapidly through a checklist of gear he will need to pack and get to HIS, ok the agency's, Helicopter.
DM what can you tell me about the ISI contact that was in the file

Savage Rifts RotRwT

Smith moves through the aisle as best he can, slipping past Ward in a surprise move to attempt to grapple the terrorist. He manages to get a hold of his arm holding the knife and struggles to maintain it.

Razor:
Abdul Al-Salahar has been with Pakistan ISI for practically his entire life. A true company man, he is well decorated and has been promoted many times, his last to Senior Director of Operations.

We can do that, I suppose.

Natalie spends her round moving into flanking position, while fighting defensively.

Razor finds his mission gear which includes lining up a requisition of Helicopter out of the Japanese Army Base. Humming "Flight of the Valkyries" to himself he lines up the next available flight out to Japan. Damn that was a good movie. What was the name of the girl I took that film? Whoever it was she didn't like it said it was too violent. Clear sign that she wasn't the right one for me. Violence seems to be more my dance partner than any one lady ever has.

Savage Rifts RotRwT

So as I mentioned in the discussion thread, I will roll for you guys from now on if I need a reactionary roll so we can keep the game moving along.

As Smith maintains his strong hold on the terrorist's arm, Ward climbs over some seats and passengers to get to him,
Athletics(Maneuver): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14 and is now standing on the other side.

The terrorist continues to struggle against Smith's grip and is too distracted by Natalie's movement,
Athletics (Maneuever): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1 to be able to fight back effectively. Natalie is unable to make any progress and instead falls flat on her face in the aisle behind Smith due to a sudden shudder in the plane.

I looked over your stuff and it looks good and well organized, thank you.

You make your flight plans easily enough, landing periodically at various refueling posts all the way into Pakistan, where you are directed to land at Karachi airport. When you arrive, you hear that a plane is coming on approach that has to be quarantined because of possible terrorism. Unfortunately, this also means that once the plane lands, they are going to ground everyone until the situation is resolved.

While you are having your OH-58 Kiowa looked at and refueled, a ground crew personnel walks up to you holding out a piece of paper. "Macomb?"

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

I *would* pummel, but it's a full round action.

Natalie rights herself, using a seat to help steady herself in the volatile wind condition. " On it!" She exclaims, bringing her elbow up and across the terrorist's face, a restrained action done to hopefully put this guy down properly.

Male Irish American Soldier 2/ Wheelman 2 38/38 V 16 W

Yeah me too. But I checked and security is a Wheelman class skill so next level I will have to dump skill points into it. DM is there a home rule limiting how many skill points you let us point in a skill per level?

The rules place a Max Rank in a skill that don't mention how many ranks you can add per level gained. For example next level per rules I could add up to the max ranks in security which is 6. But sometimes DM impose house rules limiting the max you can place per level to more simulate natural skill development. Was asking what DM wanted for this campaign.

Any idiot could hotwire a car from 1980...

But why do we want to anyway... we should break in search it and then throw the bodies in our van and bury them in the desert...

No fuss no muss...

Without any instructions, we would need to contact HQ...

Savage Rifts RotRwT

I don't have any such rule, as far as that goes. You can place up to your max ranks at next level. My idea is that as you use the skills, you get better at them. That and you can account for off time training.

I'm good with Timothy's plan, but honestly I'm fine leaving it in our Wheelman and Scout's hands. I see the two as more in military command of the situation.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Firstly let's break into the car. I wouldn't mind taking it if we hotwire it. Hell, did any of the guys have the keys for it? Maybe they're inside the car.

Male Irish American Soldier 2/ Wheelman 2 38/38 V 16 W

I would prefer to not take the car as it stands out like a polar bear in the desert.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

So does our van, I'm sure. And us.

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Its night time so, so people won't know we're foreign from within the van. A van is non descript a BMW on the other hand says, "look at me"

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Jason (and his persona Richard) are a bit vain :P I wouldn't have had Nat carry to bodies if her strength was lower, but since she's a martial artist anyhow, I figured that even with her 10 Strength, she probably still had more muscle or something, you dig? But also Jason is pretty vain :D

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

I have one!

Also I have 900 bucks

Male Caucasian Scout 3 Snoop 1

I am not being overly cautious, my character is using common sense. The other option is to go to the desert and burn the bodies... just saying. There has to be a gas station. :)

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

As mentioned elsewhere, I'll back any other decisions here. I think we could use a de facto leader for the group, for speed's sake.

Options

1. Hail and Well Met. We CAN try to talk to em, but that can become a gunfight awfully fast. However we DO have the bag full of guns in the van, so that's a bonus. Natalie's damn good at her ability to impress others, but if they're already suspicious, it may not work out well.

2. Bail and Tail. They may not notice us, or pursue.

--If they do not notice us, we can circle around keep watch on them, but I'm not good at Blending.
--If they do notice us but do not pursue, that tells us a bit about their focus, and we can still keep watch on them maybe.
--If they pursue, we get a Chase, and can lead em out of town.

3. Pre-emptive Vengeance. We could initiate hostilities with the bag full of guns, maybe even a hasty ambush (doubt it), and hope we get some serious damage on em early, use the van as cover and ensure we pop those tires. We could find out more about who these people are, if we capture one, but this assumes they're part of the guys watching us.

I personally believe option 2 is best, I'd rather know who we're dealing with, and this is the least risky way to do it.

Female Human Advocate 2/ Martial Artist 1 20/20 Vit 11 HP

option 2 by consensus it is!

Male Irish American Soldier 2/ Wheelman 2 38/38 V 16 W

I opt for riding on agree that maybe talking to a truck full of people is not the best. I will drive casually. Until I can't.

Savage Rifts RotRwT

You drive a bit more, watching the other vehicle cautiously. It drives towards the construction area, finds a place to park and the driver gets out. After a moment, he motions for the others to get out as well. Then you drive past and can no longer see what they are up to.

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

Savage Rifts RotRwT

Male Witty Grifter Faceman 3 (6,000)

It's cool, DM. Speaking of mixing up tabs, if we're going to discuss our next action, we should do it here, instead of in OOC tags in the gameplay thread. But AFAIK, we're just waiting for Macomb to declare he's driving us to the desert, right?

The Exchange

M

I honestly have no idea how we can make contact with our contact, I really think that this van full of guys has got to help us out in some form. Too bad none of us are really the stealthy types, I'd suggest two of us circle back and the others drop off the bodies.

Western Asia

Western Asia does include the Middle East according to the rulebook, so Macomb would have a basic understanding of Pashto.

I believe it was waiting on me. Work has been brutal lately. I think Macomb has some objections to shooting unarmed possible innocents who tried warning us about the area being dangerous. Words sometimes works better than bullets. I understand why Smith opened fire based on the character. I think he might have a case of PTSD.

That was the entire first round, my apologies for my not making it more clear. I will endeavor to do so. With arrows and stuff.

I uh...I hope no one is firing at whomever I'm right next to. Just saying.

It should be noted that she's never had such an experience happen to her before.

Language tag: This check is difficult unless the character and his target share at least one language, or the character speaks the tongue of the area in which the check is being made. If this is not the case, the character’s result cap is reduced by 20.

he could help if he wished, but his success isn't great. With that -8 on this guy, I may have him, but lets see how it plays out.

Natalie's Cultures include North America, Asia and Europe. Due to the campaign, we will say Western Asia, which includes the Middle East and Eastern Europe, which includes Russia.

I do not speak Pashto, but I'm willing to bet he speaks "gun pointed at head" and is fluent in "shot in the leg." But yeah maybe I should sit this one out.

Maybe Smith should fire a shot right past his head and scream at him? I bet it'd work.
