The woman returns and her eyes seem to smile as she notices that you are still there. "Reason wins over bravado. Again. It's a good thing, too. Such valuable assets would be such a waste to eliminate. Now, on to business." She takes a file folder from under her arm and lays it out on the table. "I'll get right to the point. This is a 'prove yourself' mission. I'm sending you with a team of our soldiers to infiltrate this airfield. They will be under your command for the mission, but they will also be evaluating your performance. Once inside, I want you to take as much intel as you can and return with it. While there, if you find any targets of opportunity, take them out. Any monetary assets you find are yours. I'll leave this here for you to make your plan. Questions?"

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Opening the file, Smith can see that the airfield is near the coast of Pakistan about 30 kilometers inland from the city of Gwadar. According to the documents, you are to infiltrate the city via the harbor and then make your way to the site. Exactly how you accomplish that is up to you.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The woman looks at you, her eyes scanning your faces. "You will have a squad of 8 men. You are simply on reconnaissance. As I said though, targets of opportunity can be taken down at your leisure, but we want intel. As much as you can get."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

You'll get your basic mission choices, but no extra.
"What you brought with you, some ammunition if you need it and whatever you can pick up along the way. Your squad will meet you en route to the harbor."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

This is like, a mission within a mission, so you guys need to do your mission picks in Discussion, then you will at the speed of plot...

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I posted something in the discussion to see if you guys had finished your mission picks and I don't see them done yet. I also haven't heard from Jonny in a while either. Otherwise, we should be ready to go..

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

After some time and few discussions with the quartermaster aboard the submarine, you are eventually given the green light to go ahead with this mission. About half an hour later, the vessel breaks water under the cover of darkness. A few minutes after that, a fishing trolley pulls along side.
The woman comes out of the conning tower with you, nodding to the men on board the boat. They salute and she looks at you. "Make me proud." Her covered face betrays nothing, but her voice seems sincere enough. You climb a small ladder to board the fishing boat and the leader of your squad, denoted by one extra bar on his black uniform apparently, salutes. "Sirs, we are hereby placed under your command for the duration of this mission. The men and I are ready and willing, sirs."
Other than you and your squad, there is only a boat pilot aboard the vessel. As you pull away, the submarine slips beneath the waves again.
"Fifteen minutes to the docks.", the pilot calls back.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The junior leader pauses for a moment, as if weighing his answer. "Order 3 Sir! No real names. I am called Sixer." He then indicates the rest of the group with his hand. "Knucks, Chatter, Rake, Pins, Nosebleed, Jeopardy and Backdrop." His accent is definitely Eastern European.

Timothy K Smith |

Smith looks at these people and says, "
Отлично. Названия должны быть оставлены. Вы яблоко, кинза, чеснок, рожь, икра, пастернак, подорожник и ямс. Мы хотим, чтобы россияне обвинялись, если нас заметили. Понял."
Russian

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The man nods at Smith and then at the others. "Agreed sir. May I ask, what is our plan sir?"

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Mac holds in a laugh as Smith reassigns the crew temporary names for the mission. When he gets a chance he leans in and whispers to Smith. Did you just rattle of your grocery list? Then louder to everyone. Not sure what briefing you have already been provided but our mission is one of recon. As a side to that mission we are also authorized to take out any targets of opportunity that may present themselves. For now we are non-kill until authorized by Vodka nodding to Smith Or myself who you may address as Cigar.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Apple looks confused for a moment, but then regains his bearing. "We are trained in basic infantry operations and small unit tactics." He pulls aside a tarp to open a crate and you notice a stack of armor and several AK-74s and ammunition for them. "These were issued to us when we left, sirs. Our mandate was to provide support and follow your commands to complete the mission as well as report on mission success. That is all. Sirs."

Timothy K Smith |

Smith extremely frustrated with these clowns says, "This is a recce. You do not need any of that crap. You may as well run around in shining armor or wear hats that say incursion team in the local dialect. My first command is to buy civilian clothing. Cameras and hand held tape recorders."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Apple nods. "We would like to comply sir, but we were given no spending cash. We can attempt to appropriate civilian clothes if you would like."
The pilot calls back, "Five minutes, then we hit the harbor."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Apple looks at you. "Sirs, this is all we were given. We will have to get something ashore. Unless you have a better idea. As far as we know, we are simply to follow you to the zone and provide support. We were told that you would provide all the information we needed."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Apple salutes. "Yes sir." He turns to the rest and starts correlating with the rest of the squad. About then, the captain pulls the boat up to the docks area and a uniformed pier officer comes to meet him as he is tying up the boat. You can see them exchange a small package and a handshake. After that, the pier officer walks away and a the captain comes back to you.
"Okay, you have about 20 minutes to get into the city and then make your way out and towards your recon area. Good luck."
The squad grabs their gear and disembarks. "We'll need to retrieve this on our way out. We may want to procure some sort of clandestine transport to carry it, sirs."

Timothy K Smith |

Smith says, "Cigar and I will procure a vehicle, see you and for f*~!'s sake be discreet. Relay that to the others."
Only if Mac and I end up being alone and looking for a vehicle
Smith whispers to Mac, "I suggest we message Al-Salahar and have him pick up most of them or Luxumburg. They are either incompetent or I smell bushwhack."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Apple salutes and then the squad vanishes into the evening, heading for the edge of the docks.
Letting Mac have time to respond to Smith..

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Well that would depend on what our long game plan is in my opinion. Having all our team members picked up would probably prevent us from any further penetration into this organization. Mac talks quietly back. I think we complete this mission as best we can while limiting collateral damage. See if we can't gain more information with our success.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Back in the States with full access...
Smith watches as a patrol of two Soviet soldiers comes by and talks with the pier gate guards. The six of them light up some cigarettes and talk for a few minutes. While looking around, Smith counts nine other boats in the this pier area, of varying sizes from small motor boats to a full size yacht. Some of them have people on them, some of them do not. He sees Apple and crew move towards the far end of the fenced area and slowly climb over the fence, one by one, until each are across. They then vanish into the night. Meanwhile, Mac is able to find a red '74 Volga parked just outside the gate, but in order to get to it, he will either have to talk his way past the guards, sneak by them, climb a ten foot chain link fence, or dig in his bag of spy tricks and try something else...

Timothy K Smith |

Where are we again? Are we in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Iran?
Seeing the pickle that Mac is in, he calmly walks up to the guards and proffers a cigarette and says in Russian, "Comrades, you would not happen to know where a man could go find some ladies in this town, now would you?"
Take 10 Networking +4 = 14

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Gwadar, Pakistan. I'm not 100% sold on using Networking to Impress/Persuade the guards to pay attention to you, but since you don't have the Impress skill, that would be an untrained check with no bonus, giving you a 10, and since there are six of them, puts you at -10 for 0 and then -2 for their aloof disposition, so a total of -2 v. their Resolve/Resist Impress. That said, this is a roleplaying game, so...
One of the Soviet soldiers turns to Smith, an odd look on his face as he takes a puff of his cigarette. "An old sailor out to spread his salt, eh? Which boat did you come in on?"

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

That is a very good question Mr. Spy... the four gate guards are Pakistani, but the two soldiers are definitely Soviet.
The soldier nods. "Perhaps. The Wilhelmina eh? So then you know Captain Arhat?"
One of the gate guards, Kamren Fahad, according to his nameplate, shakes his head at the soldier who smirks before continuing.
"As you were sailor. Head down the docks to pier 27, tell the guards you are there to board the Midnight Express. Pay entrance fee and then you will find your fun."
Time in Minutes: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 2, 3) = 12
Mac has 12 minutes to do whatever it is he is going to do.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Not sure if we lost Mac for a bit again, but I myself am starting to lose momentum for this game. I wanted to see it go further, but with some recent IRL stuff, my time and honestly drive to run has been somewhat diminished, so I think I am going to close this one down. I will still run the other ones for the time being as long as there is still active interest, but for the time being, this operation is closing down.
