That list is not exhaustive. The reasons are manifold and as Smith is finding out, they don't always make sense without seeing the bigger picture. ..

Except my understanding was that she enlisted these "agents" by fear of killing their family so I don't think she has too much concern for them. I think Natalie's point was why the KGB would send a false agent rather than the real agent. I think the answers to that are also many possibilities.

Natalie Burns |

exactly, why would they send someone claiming she was Antonova to the consolate when the better answer would be to not give her a cover that was another agent?
Also, i do not know if I speak Russian as it seems I may not have defined my culture focus well enough? Russia is close by, so is it a language I know?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I believe your focus is good enough to allow Russian to be in your vocabulary..

Ok I guess now is a good time to step back and review the Mission objectives as we have completed the first one.
Objectives
Contact Abdul al-Salahar
Establish Safe House
Establish Yellow Brick Road
Locate Scientists
Rescue Scientists
So next on this objective list would be to establish a safe house. I suppose Abdul may be able to help with that. We need to develop a safe means of crossing the border. Also we need to generate more intelligence on the scientists. Where are they?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Your suite would be located back stateside, but your houseboat... that's mobile and I could be persuaded to make it have an appearance in the campaign... It could show up in the port of Karachi... Just note however that it will not be able to get into Afghanistan...

Natalie Burns |

I still have about 860 bucks, so yeah that's doable. But we're going to be leaving soon, so shouldn't we establish the safe house where we are going?
Also, if we need security clearances to cross the border, can I use my Celebrity trait to do so?
Celebrity- May request Caliber II invitation Security Pick without spending an action die or making the Request check

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Natalie could get the invitation, but she would have to especially convincing that the rest are her entourage. .

Just wanted to say I'm tickled my abilities and eq are coming into play here. :D
here's a list of my mission assets again:
Mission Gear:(1R, 4GTVR, 4 Common) Caliber II Bag Full of Guns, Caliber I Work Group- Survival +10, Caliber II Broad Reconnaissance, Caliber II Cover Identity (Red Cross Liason), Caliber II Jeep w/ 2 fuel loads, Pack of Cigarettes, MREs, Binoculars, Flashlight
12 Common Items
Cold weather clothes, upscale outfit, chemical body warmers, pocket knife, water filtration tablets, romance novel, luggage, tenting gear, flares, camera, camera tripod, Red Cross survival guide, (12 of 12 items)
everyone has their gun from the BFuG I believe, though getting that past customs may be an issue if this trick I'm about to ask for may or may not work
so maybe since I have a grade 2 cover as a Red Cross liason, I can use my free security pick as a work visa or something for the others? Let's not forget we can spend action dice for a chance to request something to assist our entry into Afghanistan. AND, I still have two uses of Behind the Scenes. SO I know this is sorta metagamey, but I don't see any other way to know this without asking outright.
Does Natalie feel confident she can get the crew in the country using her contacts? ie: Is it DC 10 or less to do so?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Thanks for the heads up. I will help push ahead as needed. Natalie would not be able to use the DC 10 version in this case, but her cover identity would allow for some leeway into the country. Essentially, you would be a hired Guard (Smith), Driver (Macomb), Aide/ Resource Manager (Ward), and the Liaison (Burns). So, using Behind the Scenes, she can secure these identities, but they will not pass anything more than casual scrutiny, except for her own cover of course. Time to make up excuses as to why they don't need to see your papers that closely...

Jason "Snake" Ward |

Is there any way I could fit my Richard Chandler identity into this scenario? We're sneaking into Afghanistan, right? I think we already had the idea that I'm helping fund some Red Cross stuff here while also looking to build some oil rigs to export oil cheaply or something.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

You could use that identity. How you pass it off will be up to your skills.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Al-Salahar will do what he can, but can only promise so much.. Some of Nat's behind the scenes stuff will be rolled into what he can do for her.

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

I have been monitoring but there hasn't been much for me to add.
I will add this Macomb has brought with him his personal rifle it is stashed with the bag of guns.
On his person he has his switchblade and taped to the bottom of his seat is his PPK

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I only used one of Natalie's behind the scenes to effect what was needed. And yes, the stash item check would be used.

Natalie Burns |

Hokay, now here's the tougher part, nobody has Investigation and we need to canvass the area, we literally cannot make this check, due to the skill cap unless we can get 3 thousand dollars to make it a 'wide' search.
so we need to find someone in the know. I'm not seeing anything from Networking that helps, so I'm not sure how to go about Timothy's request
Ugh, I need to take a level of Fixer

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Biggest thing going forward is how to get to the site. Right now, most of you have been helping with the load of wounded that just came in. So far, you haven't found anyone planning on heading out to the site directly.
