Okay, I'm assuming that my glitterdust failed.
Numalar struggles with the webs, trying to get free.
escape artist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Scarlet Scarab |

"Jeez, what are you- stop- ARGH!" Scarlet is confused and frustrated with the infighting, so she just double moves up the stairs, up to the edge of the web. "Alia, where are you? I'm gonna burn the web, one second!"

RPGGGM |

Durgan draws and uses his scroll of Invisibility Purge.
This is a 25' radius and lasts for 5 minutes.
Drawing the scroll will provoke from Red, as would casting (assuming Red has Combat Reflexes). I don't think he provokes from Orange because there is cover from the corner.
The dwarf sees the scroll and knows enough about magic to realize that Durgan is about try and put "the 'fluence" on himself and his allies ans so swings his axe at the bit of parchment.
He doesn't have improved sunder so this provokes an AoO from Durgan. Note: Durgan is on the stair and has higher ground (+1 atk bonus, and there is no way Anakin Skywalker is going to beat you).
red waraxe v Durgan (AoO, rage!): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Damage to scroll: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Miss
Serena, well and truly confused as to just who is on whose side, settles her gaze on Durgan, knowing him to be a friend. She comes down the stairs behind him, settling her eyes on <red>. With a moment's concentration, she brings a small ball of fire into existence in her hand and hurls it at the guard.
Red: "See! See! I toldja! You all thought I was being paranoid about magic!"
The dwarf reacts as one might when being burned. "OUCH!" he yells.
"Jeez, what are you- stop- ARGH!" Scarlet is confused and frustrated with the infighting, so she just double moves up the stairs, up to the edge of the web. "Alia, where are you? I'm gonna burn the web, one second!"
This action combined with the above, and the rage kindling in their hearts by song and anxiousness over being caught in the keep by Mivoni forces triggers the now famous dwarven multi-axe salute.
orange waraxe v Scarlet (AoO, flank, rage!): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11 damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Miss
It works as well as one might expect a firing squad in the round to work.

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan decides the time has come to bust some heads.
"If you are helping the bandits, then have at you!"
AOO on Red, Bless, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 27
Battleaxe, 1-handed (scroll in hand), IC: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9

Miles De Nerthopln |

Took my action earlier here I know a bit faster than usual, but what can I say, I'm catching up in posting.

Illthir Winlowe |

Illthir gnashes her teeth. There weren't much she could do from where she were, even if she could drop the illusion and open the door. And leaping from the battlements screaming and swinging her hammer wasn't that tempting either.
Trying to be somewhat helpful she looked around at the nearby scene. Maybe there were some quick-release for the portcullis somewhere. It made sense people would want to be able to drop that down quickly! Or maybe even a sign of that pesky noble?
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Maintaining Silent Image and looking around, trying to spot either a way to actually seal the exit or maybe Hotspur himself.
Oh and she'll take an especially good look at the paths leading to either set of boats. Can't have him row away now can we!

Alia of the Blade |

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Alias lips turn into a narrow line as she realizes that her remaining options have gotten diminished greatly with her focal weapon disarmed from her hand.
"My precious..."
I need to make myself a locked gauntlet..., passes through her mind.
Oh well, at least he's not deliberately trying to kill me...
"Surely you don't expect me to yield after such an insult? If you are so certain of yourself, face me in a spell duel. Here and now."
The spells charge still lingering in her weapon hand, she lunges towards the dwarf, barely missing her mark.
Touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 + Fatigue Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 44
Cursing inwardly as her hand does not connect with her target - despite it's size - Alia quickly withdraws it, letting herself fall backwards into a roll that lets her stand back up close to her original position.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23 Technically useless, but I'm trying to "tumble" my way to picking up my blade. Which could possibly be argued for, but not if the blade is hidden in darkness. So yeah, move action to try and pick it up. Provoke from both.

The Blue Beetle |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

The moment she moves Alia sees the black katana twist in Beetle's hands, and lunge at her. She thinks she is hit but didn't feel the blow so sharp is the black rune blade. But now she has her own blade in hand (albeit relative to the hand it is quite small now).
Wavecutter the Black Katana v Alia (AoO, arcane enhancement, flank, heroism, power attack, 2-handed): 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 = 19 damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
In cold deadly tone, the Blue Beetle growls: "Don't you ever call me Shirley."

Bloody Angus Makdoon |

[Chord of Shards]2d6 Reflex DC 16 negates
15ft cone shaped so it should only hit Angus, the horse (plus rider if there is one) and miss Erevenywg.
Angus reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
horse reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Angus looks at the gnome coolly and says "Och, noo yoo're a deid mon."

RPGGGM |

When Dwarves Attack! I gotta go just now, so it'll be a while before I can get to the named ones.
The dwarf flails again a Durgan who had just rung his bell. Then the warrior staggers back a step and his fellows rush in, axes a'swinging.
red waraxe v Durgan (rage!): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Miss
orange waraxe v Durgan (rage!): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Miss
yellow waraxe v Durgan (rage!): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Miss
Crossbow fire erupts from the tower top and arrow slits raining steel-tipped bolts down Zokon's position.
black (tower top) crossbow v Zokon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3 Hit
purple (arrow slit) crossbow v Zokon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5 Miss
The dimly-lit gate area the dwarf behind Alia twirls his halberd around trying to snag the giant Alia's boot, and bring her down. This provokes and AoO from Alia.
green halberd (unimproved trip) v Alia (flanking, rage!): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Miss

Arbalasti Singe |

Relieved at twice now evading the worst of the magical effects.. Zokon directs his derisive relief at dog dwarf
"Ha! Your magic stinks.. la! la! La! La! La! La!"
Arbalasti drops one of his vials over the parapet.
fire bomb v Zokon (ranged touch, range, throw anything): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 2 = 15 fire damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8
BOOM!! The merlon beside Zokon topples from its place and into the courtyard like a rotted tooth.
"HOWWWWWWW!!" howls the wizard with glee.

The Blue Beetle |

"How appropriate, you being a giant and all."
Wavecutter the Black Katana v Alia (arcane enhancement, flank, heroism, power attack, 2-handed): 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 = 19 damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
The black sword flashes again at about shin-level. It is followed a moment later by the subtle click of a katana being re-sheathed, and a giant THUD!

RPGGGM |

RPGGGM |

As she slumps to the ground Alia hears a voice as if from far away. Beware the darting water arrow... The arrow from the inky depths that steals all hope....

Scarlet Scarab |

"Alia, what's going on there! Bah, I'm gonna burn the webbing. Sorry about the heat!" Scarlet takes a step back, pulls out a torch and casts Burning Hands on the southeast section of webbing, which should barely miss Numalar.
I don't know if fire on webbing spreads, or if it just fries the corner. Either way, Scarlet would like to light the torch ablaze as well for style points (and for more web burning.)

Sure. Now off to work.

![]() |

Unable to get around Durgan, Serena casts burning disarm on <orange>. He gets a Reflex save to drop his weapon as it grows red hot. If the save fails (or he can't, for some reason, drop the weapon), he takes 2d4 fire damage.

Alia of the Blade |

As a Dwarf she can actually SEE tries his best to fell her, Alia whirls around to refocus on him...being flanked between enemies was not a good thing, if she managed to dispatch this one quickly, she could step back from the darkness and focus on the leader...
Attack of Opportunity(green Halberd): 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 24 Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18 Nonlethal: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
That same moment, her thoughts are interrupted by a painful slash spreading diagonally across her back. Screw that shin-level. Ain't going down from such shenanigans. So he jumped or something, but I want a proper hit, not the combat equivalent of falling unconscious from stubbing my toe on a table.
Stabilization DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (18) + 1 - 3 = 16
As everything starts to go black and her footing becomes unstable, she attempts to fall on her assailant in a last act of spite, hoping to bury the blue dwarf beneath her mass...but finds her muscles not reacting, instead letting her slump down and falling over, curling up in a fetal position around her normal-sized Estoc.
At least I'm with you...

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon losing sight of Ledda, Zomon takes a 5ft step back and fires a pair of arrows at Arbalasti
"You use fire on me? You will regret the escalation."
Bow+pbs-rs-da: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 211d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

RPGGGM |

The gate guard goes down with one mighty blow from the 12-foot-tall Alia.
orange reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 8 fire damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
The dwarf seems stunned by both Durgan's blow and his scalded hand.
Zokon's angle is really bad (and because of the way geometry works you can't quite manage point-blank shot from that square--Zokon has to be in the one next to the tower--if you have a 5' step left to give, let me know if you want to stand there. It doesn't improve or worsen your angle--and therefore affect all the cover Arbalasti has--but it gets you to within 30' for PBS). One of his arrows deflects off the battlement the other off of some invisible force about a foot in front of the dwarf.

Zokon Santyev |

Is there stairs up to arbalasti near Zokon?

Illthir Winlowe |

Illthir sighs as she can't seem to find anything helpful. But then she suddenly perks up. The skald turns towards the road outside the castle and gesticulates wildly - as wildly as her concentration and the web spell would allow anyhow.
"Hotspur's here! Quickly! Before they drop the porticulis and burn the castle down!""
Bluff: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Gallant Inspiration: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Yes there's totally a large squad of guardsmen just outside! You silly dwarves better hurry to block the gate and/or run away!

![]() |

"Yes! By Macrathane's codpiece, burn this blasted stuff!" Numalar shouts.
Numalar continues to struggle with the webbing he is stuck in.
Escape Artist (untrained): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Nope. But next round the fire should spready to my square, freeing me.

Well, technically there is. They just all happen to be dwarves. Those that are close by look up in Illthir's direction quizzically.
The dwarves once again rush Durgan.
orange waraxe v Durgan (rage!): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Miss

purple (arrow slit) crossbow v Zokon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1 Miss

Arbalasti Singe |

Arbalasti drops another one of his vials over the parapet.
fire bomb v Zokon (ranged touch, range, throw anything): 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 2 = 20 fire damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8 Hit
KABOOM!! Now it is thunder, fire and castle flagstones raining down on Zokon.
"HOWWWWWWW!!" the wizard howls at the sky.

The Blue Beetle |

"Now to put an end to you for good." Arbalasti says coming to stand over the stricken elf.
He pops the black-bladed katana, Wavecutter, free of its sheath with his thick thumb. It slides out smooth a serpent through silk. In the blink of an eye it strikes--a terrible overhand slicing coup de grace!
There is a horrible clang of metal upon metal as katana strikes estoc and neither yields. Blue pauses and inspects the blades.
"Calm yourself, Wavecutter. Be still. It is a worthy foe your enemy. Did you suspect that it would be overcome so easily?" says the dwarf calmly.
Blue bends down to again regard the estoc. "Still, we can forge for you a prison of lead, and then drop you in the Tuskwater on our way east. How does that sound blade?"
He stands back straight.
"Warbeard! secure this weapon. Angus! Come see to the elf and Collinshammer."
Warbeard rushes over.

Bloody Angus Makdoon |

Miles grits his teeth, finding himself in a horrible situation so he decides to take a step away from the raging dwarf and then casts a spell, dissappearing from view, but continuing the inspire courage.
5ft step back and cast vanish. Invisible for 4 rounds.
Angus looks about suspiciously before saying, "Och aye. 'at seems abit yer speed, coward." He spits on the ground and stomps away toward his captain.

Erevenywg |

Miles smirks and shakes his head.
"If I turn my back, I can never possibly repent for what's happened." she turns to see that now he is well and truly cornered along with Erevenywg.Sylvan:"You best help me so I can help my friends, I don't think this dwarf nor this horse will go down easily."
Erevenywg whispers into the empty air.

Durgan Far-Walker |

Is Durgan low enough that he can take a 5' step south off the stairs and not risk falling damage? I'd like to give Serena a chance to get in there.

RPGGGM |

The steps are very steep (difficult terrain). It would be tantamount to jumping down 5 feet, so probably no significant damage, but Durgan may end up prone.

Durgan Far-Walker |

Okay, never mind. Not worth ending up prone.
Durgan strikes at Red, hoping to finish him off.
Attack, Bless, IC, Higher Ground: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 3 = 22

"FREE! I'm free! Hahaha!" Numalar cackles, full of nervous energy and frustration.
He throws a bolt of golden glitter down at the dwarves below.
Casting glitterdust, finally. Will save DC is 17. I will also take a 5' step towards Scarlet (which I assume is now clear).
"Can anyone tell where Hotspur went?"
And it looks like the main gates to the castle are closed. Is that the case?

Zokon Santyev |

Can Zokon get to arbalasti from this level? Steps or something?

Scarlet Scarab |

"Wh-where's Alia?" Scarlet runs to the end of the balcony and pulls out a rope.
Can Scarlet see Alia?

Alia of the Blade |

@Durgan: Technically, if you don't "fall" accidently, but deliberately, then the damage from the first 10 feet is nonlethal(regardless of acrobatics). And only creatures taking lethal damage from a fall end up prone. So it should be save to step off the stairs. Sentence 2 and 3 of the paragraph, respectively. Of course, it could be that doing that proper means a 5-foot step doesn't cut it and you need a move action that provokes. But still better than prone :) Of course, the same would also work for Serena, who could move action down ~20feet, then move action stand up if she fails the acrobatics.
Alia lies unconscious, unaware of what is happening, but even so, holding on to her Estoc with determination.
Also, Scarlet has Darkvision, I'd expect you to see pretty clearly that your brother was just attempting to murder me with an overhand-chop-decapitation!

RPGGGM |

Sorry Z, forgot to answer that one last night. Not on this level is the answer. Zokon could either climb the outside of the tower, or go downstairs and in through the chapel.

Serena Mistcastle |

Serena reaches forward and touches Durgan on the back, granting him a warmth of healing. She calls on Serenrae to bring her warmth to this ally.
Lay on Hands for 1d6 ⇒ 5 points.

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon will do that, he shall move downstairs and then up the tower as fast as he can
I'll let the GM move that as i'm not sure how to rep that on the map, he has 30ft move

RPGGGM |

"Wh-where's Alia?" Scarlet runs to the end of the balcony and pulls out a rope.
Can Scarlet see Alia?
Yep.
Zokon blows past a surprised Lady Luljeta, and promptly runs into the log jam on the steep stair down to the courtyard. It takes a double move because of the stair being difficult to navigate.
The other options being climbing down the outside of the building or heading to the stairwell in the southeast tower that the party initially came up from near the great hall.

The Blue Beetle |

"FREE! I'm free! Hahaha!" Numalar cackles, full of nervous energy and frustration.
He throws a bolt of golden glitter down at the dwarves below.
Angus will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Blue will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9Warbeard will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
"BLOODY HELLS!" roars Blue. "ARBALASTI!"
And it looks like the main gates to the castle are closed. Is that the case?
It looks that way from where Numalar stands (or at least it would if he leaned over the battlements to look), but I'll say this, if he interacts with the gates he gets a Will save. Also, I would like to note that maps and pictures of doors are usually shown closed, even though they may actually be open, so feel free to ask whenever.
