Miles De Nerthopln |

"Awrite thaur leprechain?" the skald says to Miles.
I could be wrong but I was looking up online and it looks like what you've made is a 5ft square and under the page of eminations and such 10ft should be bigger, but I think it is somewhat confusing and open to interpretation. Spell Shapes I think the problem stems from the areas being "Radius" but the spell says square so it's a bit confusing.
Miles grins as he looks at Angus, before blowing him a kiss.

Calm Emotions. DC 18 Will Save to everyone in a 20ft radius. Best I can think to do in this situation as it could buy some time. Anyone attacking a calmed creature breaks the spell on ALL calmed creatures so in either case, it may stop them attacking for at least one round.
thinking of doing a dramatic reveal soon, but want to make sure I disappear again. Good thing Vanish is a level 1 spell and I have quite a few ;)

Angus, entangled as he is manages to dodge Zokon's arrows.

Target one object or 10-ft. square
It's a 10 foot square--the way it says in the spell's description. A 2 x 2 section of map squares (on this one anyway) is a 10-foot-square. Some areas do not have "official" spell-shape diagrams and are either considered obvious as described or need to be extrapolated from the diagrams shown. 10-foot-squares, and 60-foot-cones (see most detect spells), are only two such examples.
Angus will (hardy): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22
He also dodges Mile's spell.

Illthir Winlowe |

"Yeah..." Illthir gives Scarlet a quick nod before ducking behind her cover again. But how would anyone get *there*? And what was up with that gatekeeper?
"Are your men drinking on the job? Or just staggering around for fun?" she called into the darkness, where she guessed the leader still was. She hadn't seen him run away at least.
Then, quite unwise since she probably just provoked the archers, she moved over to the other edge of the wall and peered into the water. Was that Hotspur down there? Or an particularly large toad? And how would she know the difference?
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Zokon Santyev |

"Zokon, do you have a wand? I need to get it to Alia." he asks, holding his hand out,
Slightly breaking from his concentration on the firing of arrows at targets he can't seem to hit
"A wand? what? Do I look like a spellcaster to you? No I don't." he replies to Miles

![]() |

Fireworks spring from Numalar's finger tips and strike the tower-top above.
fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
FYI the damage should be 1d4+1 because of my draconic bloodline arcana. 1 HP isn't likely to matter much, but it might add up.
"Who'd I get these arrows from, they fly all over the place?." he mutters after seeing the arrows spray
"Never buy arrows from a crooked arrow merchant. Or a crooked arrow merchant, for that matter. Hah!"
When Numalar hears the splash, he turns back and looks over the battlements down at the moat. He looks for ripples or signs of someone in the water. "Something's in the moat! Is that Hotspur?"
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
So 5' step, then look over the battlements. It may be a move action to make the perception check. If I see any sign of him I will take a standard action to cast glitterdust.
If the perception check doesn't take a move action then I will also throw another snapdragon firework at Arbalasti.
Snapdragon fireworks damage (reflex DC 16): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

RPGGGM |

The perception doesn't take an action, but it also doesn't turn up anything except the noise of a couple of dwarves running up the path to the castle and the rippling of moat water.
Numalar peers down into the darkness to the limit of his vision but can only just discern the surface of the rippling water. He fires another Numalar candle at Arbalasti who howls in anger as his only eyebrow goes up in flames.
Arbalasti reflex (hardy, DC 16): 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 2 = 10
"Ye daur cest a speel at me! i'll burst ye sae stoaner 'at yer dad will die afair he f#**s yer mom! I will!"
Angus continues to sputter in rage at Miles.
Angus will save (hardy, DC 18): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21

RPGGGM |

The crossbowmen continue to fire upon Illthir and Numalar.
black (tower top) crossbow v Illthir: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4 Hit, more concentration!
purple (arrow slit inside tower) crossbow v Numalar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5 Hit, more draconic defense?

Arbalasti Singe |

Seeing his crossbowmen finding their range, a dazzled Arbalasti moves to find larger targets to hit. In this case Durgan.
fire bomb v Durgan (range tough, range, dazzled): 1d20 + 3 - 6 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 6 - 1 = 10 fire damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13 miss: 1d8 ⇒ 3
And true to form he hits the side of the barn lighting it on fire.

Ledda Warbeard |

"Another giant. Heh"
Warbeard sets himself low and kicks at the earth like a bull before the charge. Then he lowers his shoulder and rushes at the giant, 10-foot Durgan.
improved overrun (rage!): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Ledda hits Durgan's knees with such force that he bowls the bigger dwarf over. Then, he looks smug about it.

RPGGGM |

More action when I can!

Durgan Far-Walker |

Does Durgan get an AOO on Ledda for movement? He would have had to first move one square south before beginning the Overrun, as he can't move diagonally past the corner. Since that would not be a 5' step (he is also moving that round), the movement prior to the Overrun would provoke an AOO.
If he had cover against Durgan from the corner then no AOO. But it seems our initial positions were identical to the example of the ogre and the rogue here, where the corner does not provide the Medium creature with cover from the Large one.

Scarlet Scarab |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

"Ye daur cest a speel at me! i'll burst ye sae stoaner 'at yer dad will die afair he f@%$s yer mom! I will!"
"It speaks!" Numalar cries in mock astonishment.
Hit, more draconic defense?
Yeah, I can't afford the damage at this point.
Once again Numalar turns into a solid gold state for a moment, and the bolt flies away harmlessly.
Since I still have my standard action I will go full defense. Brings my AC to 19.

RPGGGM |

Does Durgan get an AOO on Ledda....
Go for it.

Okay, it's a bit complicated a bit, but I see your point at agree. Also the Calm Emotions is a 20ft emination so even though it missed Angus, hopefully he got someone else.

Okay, it's a bit complicated a bit, but I see your point at agree. Also the Calm Emotions is a 20ft emination so even though it missed Angus, hopefully he got someone else.
Good point! I read that whole spell wrong. Anyone within 20 ft of Miles automatically has their rage, inspire courage, and other morale bennies suppressed. They can only take aggressive actions (like whacking or shooting one another) if they make a will save for as long as Miles maintains his concentration on the spell (up to it's duration). This includes Serena, Zokon and (oddly) Miles.
So, Angus, Will save to hit stuff this round: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 = 26 So he can and does free himself even though he himself doesn't feel the rage.

Lord Hotspur Selline |

Then, quite unwise since she probably just provoked the archers, she moved over to the other edge of the wall and peered into the water. Was that Hotspur down there?
stealth: 1d20 + 16 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 16 + 20 = 54
bullrush v Illthir (invisible): 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 2 = 21
Suddenly Illthir finds herself falling over the edge of the battlements!
So it's a DC 35 climb check to catch herself on the ledge (this means dropping everything in her hands and making the crazy roll), otherwise she's falling into the 10' of water 40' below.
Assuming she goes over....
"Well gnome," Hotspur says calmly to Numalar while flourishing his sword. "Will it be me, or your pale human-blooded friend?"

Zokon Santyev |

will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

![]() |

Who is up now?
I think Numalar has already gone, unless we are in a new round. And I don't think I can help Illthir.
"Hotspur!" Numalar shouts with surprise. "Well, that was rather un-gentlemanly," he says, looking at the spot where Illthir was.
"You know... there's a very simple solution to your current problem."
Not sure if Hotspur is going to let me talk but if so...
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Lord Hotspur Selline |

"BEETLE! Tell your men to stand down! That is an order!" He turns back to Numalar. "A wise move sorcerer. You know that it could have been you that I shoved off the battlements, though I think the resulting splash would of sounded much different."
Hotspur lets that sink in for a moment before continuing.
"You and your friends' valiant efforts have shown me the error of my path, I and my dwarven army will return to Mivon. There I will seek an audience with my father and discuss the matter of the Stolen Land and my ambitions for myself and Mivon."

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon semi-relaxes at those words, he does keep his bow in his hands with an arrow on the string . .for the moment.

Scarlet Scarab |

"Phew." Scarlet can't believe she's glad to hear Hotspur's voice, for once. "Now, I need to drag Alia to the side, here..."
She thinks about Alia's embiggened form. "Probably best we heal her... hey, has anyone seen her favorite estoc? She must have dropped it nearby."

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan is not inclined to believe a word of this. Hotspur gave up too easily when he had the advantage on Numalar.
Still, he does not attack for the moment. He lowers his axe. "Beetle, do you swear that you will escort Lord Selline back to Mivon for an audience with his father?"

Serena Mistcastle |

Serena holds her weapon in mid-swing, then lowers it cautiously, keeping an eye on Angus. If he continues to attack, she will go full defense for the first round. She waits to hear Beetle's response but does not take her eyes from Angus.

"You and your friends' valiant efforts have shown me the error of my path, I and my dwarven army will return to Mivon. There I will seek an audience with my father and discuss the matter of the Stolen Land and my ambitions for myself and Mivon."
Numalar rubs his chin in thought.
"Well, Lord Hotspur, that might be asking for trouble."
"You see, it was not us that conjured that enormous elemental. Someone else wanted to alert your father of what was going on, and that suggests that your father already had an inkling of what you are about, and is probably on his way now. Heading back at the head of your army here might be better than being caught by him in this castle, but not by much. Not by much at all."
"So you see, what you need is some kind of deniability. Some way that you could prove that it wasn't you that hired these men. You can always hire others later on. There are many mercanary companies for hire in the River Kingdoms."
"And it just so happens that we are in need of a few mercenaries ourselves. I don't think we had planned on a body as large as this, but beggars can't be choosers, as they say."
"SO.... what I propose is that you transfer your contract with these men to us. We can compensate you in lieu of whatever down payment you have made to these men. Then, when your father arrives, you can say: 'No father, I was merely acting as an Agent for my friend Numalar here. I would never dream of going against your will!' We will, of course, support your story. Won't we, everyone?" Numalar looks around.
"So, Lord Hotspur? What do you think? Take a gamble with your father catching you in the act? Or put off your plans for a little while and let us take the blame for this enterprise?"

Durgan Far-Walker |

Durgan adds, "My own interactions with Lord Raston Selline, and my rapid disappearance soon after, no doubt gave him the impression I was hiding something."

Numalar rubs his chin in thought.
"Well, Lord Hotspur, that might be asking for trouble."
Durgan adds, "My own interactions with Lord Raston Selline, and my rapid disappearance soon after, no doubt gave him the impression I was hiding something."
"Yes, I imagine he did find that most suspicious."
Hotspur considers Numalar's words for a moment and then says, "No, I think honesty is the best policy here don't you? After all as you said my father's agents might be watching all of this transpire? That Igor fellow had a unfavorable look to him, don't you think? And while my father is a stern man, he is a fair one. I doubt his judgment will be any harsher than I can bear with difficulty. We should adjourn to the great hall, take our rest, and see to the causalities while we await the city guard."
Accept the offer or decline? Feel free to discuss possibilities in the discussion thread, or on this thread in-character. Should be pretty simple, after all it is only the fates of nations in your hands. :)

Zokon Santyev |

Without disguise Zokon exclaims "Huh? I have no idea what you are up to, but I have no gotten the impression that any dealings with you will be in any way honest or helpful to a group of relative strangers to you in any way." he has not put away his weapon yet
