Calm Emotions. DC 18 Will Save to everyone in a 20ft radius. Best I can think to do in this situation as it could buy some time. Anyone attacking a calmed creature breaks the spell on ALL calmed creatures so in either case, it may stop them attacking for at least one round.

GM:

thinking of doing a dramatic reveal soon, but want to make sure I disappear again. Good thing Vanish is a level 1 spell and I have quite a few ;)

"Yeah..." Illthir gives Scarlet a quick nod before ducking behind her cover again. But how would anyone get *there*? And what was up with that gatekeeper?

"Are your men drinking on the job? Or just staggering around for fun?" she called into the darkness, where she guessed the leader still was. She hadn't seen him run away at least.

Then, quite unwise since she probably just provoked the archers, she moved over to the other edge of the wall and peered into the water. Was that Hotspur down there? Or an particularly large toad? And how would she know the difference?

When Numalar hears the splash, he turns back and looks over the battlements down at the moat. He looks for ripples or signs of someone in the water. "Something's in the moat! Is that Hotspur?"

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

So 5' step, then look over the battlements. It may be a move action to make the perception check. If I see any sign of him I will take a standard action to cast glitterdust.

If the perception check doesn't take a move action then I will also throw another snapdragon firework at Arbalasti.

Snapdragon fireworks damage (reflex DC 16): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The perception doesn't take an action, but it also doesn't turn up anything except the noise of a couple of dwarves running up the path to the castle and the rippling of moat water.

Numalar peers down into the darkness to the limit of his vision but can only just discern the surface of the rippling water. He fires another Numalar candle at Arbalasti who howls in anger as his only eyebrow goes up in flames.

Arbalasti reflex (hardy, DC 16): 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 2 = 10

Angus continues to sputter in rage at Miles.

Bloody Angus finds the rage within to free himself of the tangle goop with one more slash of his waraxe.

Seeing his crossbowmen finding their range, a dazzled Arbalasti moves to find larger targets to hit. In this case Durgan.

fire bomb v Durgan (range tough, range, dazzled): 1d20 + 3 - 6 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 6 - 1 = 10 fire damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13 miss: 1d8 ⇒ 3

And true to form he hits the side of the barn lighting it on fire.


Seeing this Lady Luljeta bites hard down on her knuckle.

Warbeard sets himself low and kicks at the earth like a bull before the charge. Then he lowers his shoulder and rushes at the giant, 10-foot Durgan.

Does Durgan get an AOO on Ledda for movement? He would have had to first move one square south before beginning the Overrun, as he can't move diagonally past the corner. Since that would not be a 5' step (he is also moving that round), the movement prior to the Overrun would provoke an AOO.
If he had cover against Durgan from the corner then no AOO. But it seems our initial positions were identical to the example of the ogre and the rogue here, where the corner does not provide the Medium creature with cover from the Large one.

Once again Numalar turns into a solid gold state for a moment, and the bolt flies away harmlessly.

Okay, it's a bit complicated a bit, but I see your point at agree. Also the Calm Emotions is a 20ft emination so even though it missed Angus, hopefully he got someone else.

Good point! I read that whole spell wrong. Anyone within 20 ft of Miles automatically has their rage, inspire courage, and other morale bennies suppressed. They can only take aggressive actions (like whacking or shooting one another) if they make a will save for as long as Miles maintains his concentration on the spell (up to it's duration). This includes Serena, Zokon and (oddly) Miles.

So, Angus, Will save to hit stuff this round: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 = 26 So he can and does free himself even though he himself doesn't feel the rage.

Suddenly Illthir finds herself falling over the edge of the battlements!

[ooc]It's not really possible to hide casting a spell with obvious verbal and somatic components while the person is looking at you. Numalar might have a better chance of attempting it while on the walk to the great hall (The old "You guys go on, I've got to tie my shoe" gambit.)

There are one or two little things that could re-ignite open hostilities, but for now they seem to be at an end....

A giant Durgan moves to help the giant Alia, (though he has to move by a giant Blue Beetle to do so). The Company musters to the aid of their fallen comrades. A few more dwarves arrive from outside.

I'm guessing that Durgan goes to tend to Alia. What are other people doing?
