Glory rogue is fine.

Good luck to you Icehawk! May you find greener pastures.

Tenro, even in that state it made sense, and thank you for your support.

No for a man made of worms. No! LOL :)

Well give me a little bit of time to collect all my material and we can get the gameplay thread moving.

Vampire.... yea or nay?

I want to be a vampire ranger/fighter

male Grey Elf Oracle (bones, black blooded, duel cursed) 5/arcanist 3/glory rouge 2 (mageslayer)

Woo, glory rouge
Yay

M Humanborn

question, would the new intro characters feel the massive rift, or just the de-levelers?

M Humanborn

additional question:

are we limited to a certain percentage of total wealth by level to be spent on one item? the armor i want will cost just a bit over 25% of WBL which i believe is the assumed rule? i don't recall, that might be a vestige of my 3.5 days.

M Humanborn

basically, for armor, i am looking at one of the following armors:

3800 gp Mithral Agile Breastplate (+6 AC, 0 ACP)
OR
990 gp Fire-forged Chain Shirt (+4 AC, -1 ACP, 2 Fire Resist)

The mithral breastplate would normally be out of the question as i am not medium-armor proficient, but since the ACP is reduced to 0, it makes it possible for me to wear without penalties.

That said, the other armor is MUCH cheaper, and provides Fire Resist 2 (which correspondingly protects from hot environments), but provides 2 less AC, which is significant.

male Grey Elf Oracle (bones, black blooded, duel cursed) 5/arcanist 3/glory rouge 2 (mageslayer)

Is hot environment something we are liable to face?

M Humanborn

Kelmarane is at the base of the Brazen Peaks, a mountain range surrounded by desert.

Map

not too much further north before you are in Osirion, the Golarion analog to Egypt.

EDIT: I am by no means well-versed in Golarion lore, but seeing the cover of the player's guide to legacy of fire made me think Arabian Nights immediately, and i knew i wanted to make a local. So i did some research on the area. It gives me fond memories of Calimshan, one of the few places in FR that i actually liked. Although that character was brutally eviscerated in the middle of the night by a party member who decided he would save the silver and sleep outside the town instead of in the inn and contracted lycanthropy.

Everyone feels the rift!

Yes you should know just from being in the region fire you will likely encounter.

I am fine with either armor.

Investigator 5 // Monk (MoMS) 3 / Rogue (Investigator) 2

gear is 95% complete, I just have a few poisons and other alchemical items to buy. for appearances, he has the following items (magical):

A coarse, hempen robe.
A bright white keffiyeh that remains spotless.
A shabby and worn grey hooded cape.
Extremely light mithral breastplate (actually weighs less than studded leather)
Over the armor, a well-made leather vest with shiny metal buttons and bulging pockets.
Fine silk wraps around the wrist and forearm.

A masterwork hand crossbow.
A sack slung on his shoulder under the cape.

I decided to go with the mithral breastplate, as my AC was high enough that 2 more was actually helpful (i was sorta on the cusp of things with decent BAB being able to hit me regularly, now my defenses are in line with someone focusing on defense).

To make up for not haveing the fire resistance of the fire-forged steel, i got him the Keffiyeh of Cooling. I wanted him to have a number of items that suggested a cosmopolitan, "been to a few strange places" nature, while not so many that he couldn't play things low-key when necessary.

done with my equipment, just going to pretty up my .txt file and upload the changes.

EDIT: I assume we are traveling at night, to accommodate our vampire? If we travel during the day, Arasmes will also be using a parasol to shield himself from the sun's harmful rays.

male Grey Elf Oracle (bones, black blooded, duel cursed) 5/arcanist 3/glory rouge 2 (mageslayer)

I suggest a robe of the vampire (wondrous item enchanted with continuous protective penumbra)

Grushdeva du kalt misht

I wear armor with +2 to AC. I don't need it unless I lose it.

:)

... i dont see what +2 to AC does for your weakness to sunlight.

(not trying to critique your character build or anything, just wondering what is going on and if we are traveling at night). Traveling at night would probably make more sense anyway, that is what we usually do in my dark sun game.

Even if we travel at night a cloak of the vampire is must have equipment

Yes, please explain why the +2 armor keeps you safe from the sun?

Look under pathfinder srd.... there's something in there about it....

Sorry about not posting recently everybody, my laptop's power cord died and I just got the new one today. That said, I'll be traveling until Sunday to visit family, so my posting may be erratic or nonexistent. Please DMPC me as needed!

Male Human Paladin 3

I don't want to just go... "I have a cloak, I can saunter through the sunlight..." I still want the sun to be.... frightening...

I cannot find the ruling, but I don't want the cloak. I'll just reside in my tent during the day

male Grey Elf Oracle (bones, black blooded, duel cursed) 5/arcanist 3/glory rouge 2 (mageslayer)

Meh,
The original also gave Chanel resistance and a few other nifty things, and a 5% chance each day (non cumulative) to fail to protect against the sun for that day but I don't have the price for those things off the top of my head.

well if he wants the sun to be frightening, makes sense to me.

besides, traveling at night is smarter anyhow

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

True, but if I was afraid if something I'd try to do something about it
Granted he may not know such items exist and I don't think he has craft wondrous
In any case the point is to have fun, so long as you're doing that not much else matters (unless you're infringing on someone else's fun)

Just dig into the ground. Seriously a cloak is not going to protect you unless it is made out of lead, or at least lined by it. It will still be very painful. Night play makes it much more interesting too. :)

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

The cloak would be enchanted as per the 2nd lvl spell protective pnumbra, which is designed for that
But lead and silk woven together may be some of the material components

M Humanborn

although since he doesnt want the cloak this conversation doesnt matter, i am wondering why lead? lead is anti-divination not anti-UV

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

actually it is anti-radiation, it's kinda overkill (for most people) to block UV

M Humanborn

ah yes i forgot about the whole antiradiation thing. but still. lead poisoning.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

undead, immune to poison
and if you're going there it's heavy metal poisoning, gold is a heavy metal (I think silver is too but I'm not sure) plus this is a world with magic

Only recently has it been UV=dead vampire...

Originally, it was because the sun was good, significant symbol of holy power... and destroyed the abominable undead...

I realize this, I was just saying in response to his point, but as it bloks magic well *shrug*

happy new years everybody!

Grushdeva du kalt misht

I want to choose the Natural Weapons Combat style for the ranger... Rending Claws for the win :)

I'm Statting out my character right now...

What is the point buy for this campaign again?

Wont be on for a bit, having my birthday dinner with some friends and likely to be fairly tired, if not hung over, for a portion of tomorrow.

drink lots of water, should prevent the hangover unless you drink so much they could bottle your piss afterwards

LOL, well get on when you are sober, we aren't moving very quickly.

M Humanborn

heh, no hangover for me!

I didnt drink more water than normal but the evening revolved around dinner, which was a lot of meat and bread so we were fine. haha

I am missing all my info right now, it is at home. I will get some word walls out in a few hours. =P

Azulth, that would all be one intimidate check... as per the rules, the check takes at least a minute.

I got that post, but it's from earlier, and I left after that. My most recent post was after Azulth went and talked with other people, and he thought the evidence all added up.
