Automatic Failures and Successes
A natural 1 (the d20 comes up 1) on a saving throw is always a failure (and may cause damage to exposed items; see Items Surviving after a Saving Throw). A natural 20 (the d20 comes up 20) is always a success.

Skills are not auto fail or succeed.

Random Check-up on you guys:
I'm one of those mean GMs that would have auto-fail/success for skills, but only if there was something major to be risked or gained. Mostly it was to make some skills useful and obtainable at low levels and still instill some risk and danger at really high levels.

Misinterpreted your post dm....
Darn it...

This seems weird having a barrier that electrifies and magnetizies? moves? your weapon if you strike it...

Hmm I'm in heavy armor, if I gave myself 19 resistance to electricity... What would happen?
RETIRED Warforged (Living Construct, Dwarven) (Gestalt) Artificer / Machinesmith 20
yeah that is a rather weird barrier. i wonder why they would have constructed it? It would be quite effective against any force trying to sack the village if they used weapons.
Ivanna, if they fail the DC by more than five, sometimes depending on the skill bad things happen.
It is a barrier to keep out gargantuan beasts, that must not be immune to E.
19 resistance? That seems to be a weird number.

granted by an ability that uses caster level=to character level minus 1, it's an eldritch heritage thing

Archoma always gets 20 on initiative. He doesn't roll, he just has a permanent 40.
You still act first, get to it! :)

Why doesn't Alton go in round 2?
He didn't go in round 1???

Because you need to go round one first....

as a note the reason he shot first is twofold
one he can fix it
two it's obviously a lesser being

it's a pet peeve of mine that someone misunderstand what logic is,
and saying that if something is wrong, it must be illogical
Alton was quite logical, he just has a different frame of reference
(one that I don't share, but that I do understand)

I don't actually agree with my character, I find he was too logical
he did however make one assumption he should not have (in addition to one he maybe should not have that being that the beast would attack) that mistake being that he would have help....
he will not be making the same mistake again.

yeah, Tinkerer would have attacked probably id the strange man hadn't yelled out after the beast was attacked. Tinkerer has more of a follower mentality except in his primary areas of expertise.

so if you met someone with cloudy eyes that responded to visual cues, you couldn't logically assume they were blind.
Visually impaired? probably... but incapable of sight, you'd be dumb if you thought that.
-edit- just for clarity, I'm a nurse and see cataracts every day nearly.
