yeah it was down for me too. terrible times, as i spend a lot of time on the boards.
good idea splitting us up GM. minimizes the chances of a giant battle erupting between us hahahaha

I believe the RP we had to use was 25, I could be wrong though if so I can add in moar bonuses! =D
Elwë Alcarin |
Quote:Ice Armor (Su): You can conjure armor of ice that grants you a +4 armor bonus to AC. At 7th level and every 4 levels thereafter, this bonus increases by 2. At 13th level, this icy armor grants you DR 5/piercing. In cold conditions, the armor bonus and DR bonus increase by 2; in very hot conditions, however, they decrease by 2. You can use this armor for 1 hour per day per oracle level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but must be spent in 1-hour increments.as an aside I believe this grants you 12 armor, 4 to start, at 7, 11, 15, 19 you get a +2 for 12 total..
He might have been taking the -2 penalty for still being in a hot climate.

Okay, I'm trying to jump back in here, but even reading back entries from my time away (100+ of them), I'm confused. I don't want to just drop the game or anything, but I'm trying to figure out how to get back in...
What exactly is going on (as far as the PCs know), and where's Azulth at the moment?
Ivanna Láska |
We have been split up into 4 groups.
Right now, Ziggles, TTT, and Wilbur are in the lake getting to this temple.
Alcarin, Tinkerer, and Alton went to through this white, magic door into some kind of maze.
Oom and the NPC halfling went into the building and down holes made for very small folk.
Ivanna is currently looking at this aberration that looks like a tree.
Each of the four groups are a different task that involves stopping or taking control of some device. The device, from what I gather, is/used to create/summon some kind of BBEG(s) (I'm guessing here).
There are some fights taking place as well at some of the locations (Like underwater).
We needed only up to 3 people at each site. If you can make yourself small, you can catch up to Oom and the NPC. Otherwise, you are free to join me or just do your own thing like set-up a lawn chair and catch a few drinks while watching the show. XD
Azulth the Slayer |
As much as I'd love to just sit by and watch this pan out... And that might actually be a good way to give the character an interesting side, and I'll probably incorporate that as what he's been doing in the meantime.... I'll go ahead and join Ivanna.
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
yeah i wouldnt want to splash around with the crazy meathead folks, and without the ability to see the white door or be smaller than a breadbox, options are limited haha

Decided it best to move this to this area of the campaign.
yes, even if it was slain you call it back with it. there is no prohibition with it from calling it again if you already had and it was slain today through the spell.
It only ignores death due to damage, not death effects. I'll double check the FAQs, but the spell does it it acts as if you summoned it normally with a few exceptions. Death effects are not one of the exceptions. It seems pretty straight forward to me as it lists the exact exceptions from normal eidolon summoning rules.
DM-DR |
My only point is that the spell does not over-ride the "slain by death effects" clause under the summoner's SLA for his eidolon. As much as I would like to just re-summon him, I will have to wait until the next day in game. There is no FAQ for it, but everywhere on the message boards says the same thing. When it is summoned the next day, it will have half-hp, but there is still a one day wait period.
If it died due to damage, I could summon it. But Phantasmal Killer's save or die does not deal damage on a failed save.
Ivanna Láska |
There is a difference between death effect and death by hp.
I'll try to make this as simple and contiguous as I can.
1)Phantasmal Killer -School illusion (phantasm) [emotion, fear, mind-affecting]; "If that save fails, the phantasm touches the subject, and the subject must succeed on a Fortitude save or die from fear."
2)From Summoner's Eidolon class feature: "A summoner can summon his eidolon in a ritual that takes 1 minute to perform. When summoned in this way, the eidolon hit points are unchanged from the last time it was dismissed or banished. The only exception to this is if the eidolon was slain, in which case it returns with half its normal hit points. The eidolon does not heal naturally. The eidolon remains until dismissed by the summoner (a standard action). If the eidolon is sent back to its home plane due to death, it cannot be summoned again until the following day.
3)Summon Eidolon Spell: "Treat this as if you had summoned your eidolon normally, except that it only remains with you for the duration of this spell. While summoned in this way, your eidolon cannot touch any creature warded by protection from evil or a similar effect and your eidolon can be sent back to its home plane by dispel magic.
If you cast this spell while your eidolon is already on your plane, this spell has no effect. This spell allows you to summon your eidolon even if it has been returned to its home plane due to damage."
Both by RAW and RAI, there is a distinction made between being slain by damage and slain by death effects. If the spell was intended to over-ride death effects, it would simply have said "even it is has been returned to its home plane due to death."
It seems very clear to me, but beyond the point, I do not have the spell on my list and so there really doesn't matter in the end; especially since I'm the only summoner by class in the game thread and thus the only one affected by it. I'm not too worried about not having my eidolon as I didn't even take my free cohort from leadership since it is just for fluff.

you're reading the summoned until the following day part.
The eidolon forms a link with the summoner, who, forever after, summons an aspect of the same creature. An eidolon has the same alignment as the summoner that calls it and can speak all of his languages. Eidolons are treated as summoned creatures, except that they are not sent back to their home plane until reduced to a number of negative hit points equal to or greater than their Constitution score
When your negative hit point total is equal to your Constitution, you're dead.
It died when it goes to it's plane that way.
When you cast summon eidolon it summons it period. It doesn't matter if it died due to hp or due to slay living etc... it comes back always and only for that duration.
DM-DR |
This will be my last comment regarding this discussion.
The spell specifically states that it allows you to summon the eidolon if it was sent back due to damage. It does not specify other forms of being slain and thus the "cannot be summoned again until the following day" clause is still valid. The only death the spell over-rides is damage.

Question on the vines and pit:
I understand that it won't fall and take the falling damage, but does any portion of it go into the pit? The hungry pit deals damage to anyone caught inside, not just at the bottom.
Ivanna Láska |
Have an idea of what I am doing next, but giving Azulth a a chance to do whatever he would like since he his character has knowledge mine doesn't and I don't want to interfere too much with what he might have planned. Just letting you know so you don't think I dropped out or anything.
Alton VenRysn |
yeah, all of the undead makeing spells have costly material components, well other than a 1st lvl "animate skeleton" but it only makes 1hd skeletons (though it has a nice effect of that one skeleton not counting against my total)
Terrible Terry Tate |
I was really surprised with the evil leanings some have that we didn't have juju zombies.
Terrible Terry Tate |
I was modeling him after the terrible terry tate office linebacker series (it's in the profile!)
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
tinkerer's still here. just nothing particularly going on with him at the moment. (just building a castle from the sacrificed life energy of numerous beings of supernatural power)
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
If I can do the spell myself, does it expend the spell or just require knowledge of it?
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
Yeah that stinks. Seems like a few othera havent been particularly active as well.
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
Heh that would be an interesti g recruitment. "Kill my party!"
Terrible Terry Tate |
I would hope if that's done that they don't get to create their characters with ours in mind lol.
I made this guy with it in mind to be part of a party, not to be an invulnerable warrior on his own right lol
"The Tinkerer" Dr. Bertram |
Yeah I made this one as support but then there I was, facing an incorporeal spirit trying to possess me and its undead minion!
